Daquein McNeil to plead not guilty -- An attorney for Minnesota guard Daquein McNeil says the sophomore will plead not guilty to charges he attacked and injured his girlfriend. McNeil appeared Monday in Hennepin County court. The 21-year-old is charged with two felony counts of assault for allegedly choking his girlfriend and whipping her with a belt last week. "All night, we were really just trying to get two feet in the paint and Derrick (Walton) did a great job getting into the paint and ended up drawing the defense in," Albrecht said. "He made a great kickout and fortunately I was able to knock it down." Gaston Diedhiou eligible for Gophers Minnesota freshman forward Gaston Diedhiou has been admitted to the university and added to the roster. The Gophers made the announcement Thursday that the 6-foot-9, 240-pound Diedhiou has joined the team and will be immediately eligible to play. The native of Dakar, Senegal, was denied admission for the fall semester because of problems with the school's English proficiency exam. Diedhiou played at the Canaris Basketball Academy in Spain. He'll give the team some needed depth in the frontcourt, following the decision by freshman forward Josh Martin to transfer from the program.
