No. 16 Purdue beats Indiana to clinch share of Big Ten crown

No. 16 Purdue celebrated the perfect party on Senior Night.

Players danced around in black-and-gold confetti as the fans sung "We Are the Champions." They climbed ladders and cut down nets. And they did it all by dethroning the defending Big Ten champs.

Dakota Mathis scored 17 points in the first half, Caleb Swanigan matched that total in the second and the Boilermakers pulled away from foul-prone Indiana for an 86-75 victory Tuesday night to clinch a share of the conference crown and the top seed in next week's conference tournament.

Late 3 gives Iowa win over mistake-prone No. 22 Wisconsin

Jordan Bohannon looked in the direction of his older brother, Zach, as he ran back up the court after hitting a 3-pointer with 9 seconds left against Wisconsin, his sibling's alma mater.

Little brother hit a big shot for Iowa.

Bohannon's 3 finished a frantic comeback from a nine-point deficit with 4:15 left, and the Hawkeyes brushed past mistake-prone No. 22 Wisconsin for a 59-57 victory Thursday night.

Tom Crean out as coach of Indiana after 9 seasons

Indiana and Tom Crean have parted ways after nine seasons, the school announced Thursday.

The Hoosiers went to the Sweet 16 three times in his tenure but have not made it to the NCAA tournament twice in the past four seasons -- including this year, even though they beat Kansas and North Carolina early in the season.

Michigan State forward Ben Carter granted sixth year of eligibilty

    upload_2017-5-8_21-19-34.png

Michigan State forward Ben Carter was granted a sixth year of eligibility Monday as the NCAA approved a medical hardship waiver submitted by the school.

Carter, who was a graduate transfer to Michigan State from UNLV last year, underwent knee surgery that ended his season last October after landing awkwardly in practice. It was Carter's second knee surgery last year as his final season at UNLV ended abruptly due to a surgery he had last January.

    Isaac Copeland eligible for season

Nebraska Cornhuskers forward Isaac Copeland will be eligible for the entire 2017-18 campaign after receiving a waiver from the NCAA, a source close to the situation has informed FanRag Sports. Copeland transferred to Nebraska from Georgetown back in January.

However, he left the Hoyas back in December.

The Raleigh, North Carolina native spent the first two years and change of his collegiate career with Georgetown, but his playing time diminished this past season. During his first year with the heralded program, Copeland played in 33 games and made 11 starts, averaging 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 20 minutes per contest. He shot 45.1 percent from the floor, made 38.9 percent of his three-point attempts and connected on 80.9 percent of his free throw

No. 2 Michigan State tops North Florida, next up No. 1 Duke

Miles Bridges set up teammates at the start of his sophomore season, dishing the basketball instead of shooting it himself.

The leading vote-getter for The Associated Press preseason All-America team scored in a variety of ways later in the game, including a layup after going around his back with the basketball as he went up for the shot.

Bridges finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, helping No. 2 Michigan State beat North Florida 98-66 on Friday night in a tuneup for a highly anticipated game.

Jordan Murphy sure got his junior year off to a good start.

The Gophers are eager to see how much higher he can take his game.

Murphy scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Reggie Lynch added 15 points and 10 rebounds and 15th-ranked Minnesota overpowered South Carolina Upstate in the season opener for a 92-77 victory on Friday night.

Edwards helps No. 20 Purdue rout Chicago State 111-42

Based on his stat lines and shooting volume, it's safe to say Purdue sophomore Carsen Edwards is an offensive-minded guard.

One such example was his 36-point performance against Israel in this summer's World University Games, which was the most by any player throughout the entire tournament.

But it was defense that excited Edwards on Sunday as the 20th-ranked Boilermakers beat Chicago State 111-42.

Murphy's 23 helps No. 15 Minnesota get past Providence 86-74

Providence brought plenty of energy to its matchup with No. 14 Minnesota. However, the Golden Gophers had the toughest player on the court, and he showed up when it counted.

Jordan Murphy had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Minnesota outlasted the Friars 86-74 on Monday night.

No. 19 Purdue controls paint to beat Marquette 86-71

Purdue coach Matt Painter simplified the game plan against Marquette knowing he had a size advantage in the paint.

Dump the ball into 7-foot-2 center Isaac Haas for easy buckets. Have the big man find open shooters when the defense collapsed on him

Haas scored 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting, Carsen Edwards added 15 points and 19th-ranked Purdue beat Marquette 86-71 on Tuesday night.
