No. 3 Purdue holds off Michigan 92-88 for 16th straight win

Purdue's Isaac Haas stood his ground Thursday night.

If he saw one defender in the post, the 7-foot-2 center went straight to the rim. If he was double-teamed, he let teammates make the plays. The strategy worked perfectly, again.

Vincent Edwards scored a career-high 30 points, Haas added 24 and No. 3 Purdue used one late charge to finally get past No. 25 Michigan 92-88 for a school-record tying 16th consecutive win.

Langford scores 19 as No. 6 Michigan St beats Maryland 74-68

Surely, there will come a time in the near future when Michigan State coach Tom Izzo will allow himself to savor another 20-win season and look forward to competing in the NCAA Tournament.

For now, however, the Hall of Fame coach has other things on his mind.

Minutes after the sixth-ranked Spartans rallied past Maryland 74-68 on Sunday, Izzo spoke softly about what it's been like to prepare his team to play in the wake of an investigation of the program and the school involving sexual assaults by athletes and staff.

No. 3 Purdue holds off Indiana for record 17th straight win

Isaac Haas and Vincent Edwards keep putting up big numbers for No. 3 Purdue.

They're more concerned with winning. Right now, they can't quibble with the results.

The two seniors combined for 45 points and 12 rebounds Sunday to help the Boilermakers pull away late for a 74-67 victory at Indiana, and a chance to celebrate a school-record 17th consecutive win on the home court of their most bitter rival.

No. 24 Michigan outlasts Northwestern 58-47

John Beilein made it clear where the credit should go after this victory.

"The whole press conference should be about our defense," the Michigan coach said. "We're up two at half -- are you kidding me? We didn't make shots, we didn't make foul shots, but we held them, and that was the key."

Charles Matthews scored 14 points, and the 24th-ranked Wolverines outlasted Northwestern 58-47 on Monday night. Michigan labored through an ugly first half but still led 21-19 after 20 minutes. The Wolverines ended up shooting just 42 percent from the field and 7 of 25 from 3-point range, but Northwestern couldn't take advantage.

No. 5 Michigan State rallies and beats Penn State 76-68

Tom Izzo sat Cassius Winston at the beginning of the second half, benching his point guard to send a message.

    It seemed to work.

Miles Bridges had 23 points and Winston scored 12 of his 15 points after halftime and finished with 10 assists, helping No. 5 Michigan State come back from a double-digit deficit to beat Penn State 76-68 on Wednesday night.

No. 3 Purdue gets past Maryland for 18th consecutive win

Isaac Haas provided the perfect remedy for No. 3 Purdue's ills on Wednesday night.

With Vincent Edwards not at 100 percent, the 7-foot-2 center went to work. He repeatedly posted up for baskets, drew fouls on Maryland's big men and nimbly found teammates to take care of things on the outside. He even delivered the knockout punch in the final minute.

Haas finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, capping the 75-67 win over Maryland with a thunderous dunk that extended the nation's longest winning streak to 18.

No. 5 Michigan St. beats Indiana 63-60 for 6th straight win

Indiana thought a lineup change might help it stand up to Michigan State's length on Saturday.

Instead, the fifth-ranked Spartans found their own solution.

On a night when Matt McQuaid scored 12 points and made the decisive 3-pointer with 68 seconds left, Michigan State again matched the school's single-game record with 13 blocked shots to hold off the hard-charging Hoosiers 63-60.

Edward helps No. 3 Purdue hold off Rutgers, 78-76

Vincent Edward spent the early part of the week resting in bed due to an illness, and vomited when No. 3 Purdue arrived in New Jersey. While trainers are unsure if he is dealing with a sinus issue or the flue, it didn't seem to have an effect on his game.

Despite missing the past two days of practice, Edward had 18 points, seven rebounds and eight assists to help the Boilermakers hold on to beat Rutgers 78-76 on Saturday for a school-record 19th straight win.

No. 24 Michigan holds on to beat Minnesota 76-73 in OT

Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman made up for missing two free throws late in regulation when he failed to take advantage of an opportunity to seal a victory.

Abdur-Rahkman bounced back with a tiebreaking three-point play with 3.8 seconds left in overtime and finished with 17 points as No. 24 Michigan held on to beat Minnesota 76-73 Saturday.

No. 17 Ohio State holds off pesky Illinois to win 75-67

With Illinois leading by 11 points with 8:45 left in the first half, Ohio's State's Keita Bates-Diop went to work.

Playing in his 100th game for the Buckeyes, Bates-Diop reeled off 11 unanswered points including a pair of dunks , a 3-pointer and a tip-in off an offensive rebound. No. 17 Ohio State ended the half up by four and outlasted the pesky Illini in the second half to win 75-67 on Sunday.

No. 4 Michigan State survives Iowa 96-93

Once the calendar hits February, avoiding a bad loss can often be as important as earning a big win.

The fourth-ranked Spartans somehow survived their trip to Iowa City on Tuesday night -- and if they can beat No. 3 Purdue on Saturday, their hopes for a Big Ten title will remain intact.

McIntosh scores 24, Northwestern beats No. 20 Michigan 61-52

Maybe it was too soon to write off Northwestern.

The Wildcats finally appear to be finding the rhythm that had them dancing all the way to the NCAA tournament for the first time last year.

Bryant McIntosh tied a season high with 24 points, and Northwestern beat No. 20 Michigan 61-52 on Tuesday night.

No. 14 Ohio St. closes strong to end No. 3 Purdue's streak

Ohio State's Keita Bates-Diop managed to end the nation's longest winning streak and shook up the Big Ten title race Wednesday night.

All it took was one big basket.

His putback with 2.8 seconds left capped Ohio State's final charge, gave the 14th-ranked Buckeyes a 64-63 victory and ended No. 3 Purdue's school-record 19-game winning streak.

Forget about the NBA. This is worth the wait for the talented sophomore.

Hot-shooting 1st half helps No. 20 Michigan beat Wisconsin

Duncan Robinson earned his first start in a month after putting on a 3-point shooting clinic at practice.

He rewarded coach John Beilein's trust and kept hitting from long distance in the first half against Wisconsin.

Robinson scored 16 points and made all four of his 3s in the first half, Moe Wagner had 20 points and 11 rebounds and No. 20 Michigan rode a hot-shooting start for an 83-72 win on Sunday. The Wolverines (20-7, 9-5) won on the road for the first time since upsetting Michigan State on Jan. 13.

No. 2 MSU tops Minnesota 87-57 with 27 points from Jackson

With smooth moves, a sharp jump shot and an unavoidable 6-foot-11 presence on the floor, Jaren Jackson Jr. has given Michigan State another vast skillset as the lone freshman in an otherwise-all-sophomore starting lineup.

This performance was his best yet.

Jackson scored a career-high 27 points on 10-for-14 shooting in just 22 minutes for the second-ranked Spartans, who cruised to their ninth consecutive victory by beating Minnesota 87-57 on Tuesday.

Carr, Watkins lead Penn State over No. 8 Ohio State

A mob of white-clad fans stormed the court at Bryce Jordan Center and Tony Carr disappeared among them.

Carr was the most noticeable player on the court until then, scoring 30 points to lead Penn State to a 79-56 rout of No. 8 Ohio State on Thursday night.

Happ's double-double leads Wisconsin over No. 6 Purdue

Ethan Happ made his mentor proud.

On a night when Wisconsin honored Frank Kaminsky, one of the best players in program history, Happ led the current crop of Badgers to their biggest win of a challenging season.

Happ finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds after the school retired Kaminsky's jersey, and Wisconsin beat No. 6 Purdue 57-53 on Thursday to hand the Boilermakers their third straight loss.
