Wieskamp scores 24, No. 23 Iowa routs Savannah State 110-64

Once it became apparent that Savannah State posed no threat, Iowa seemed content to let Jordan Bohannon shoot his way out of a season-long slump.

Bohannon responded with his best game of the year -- a positive sign with the bulk of the Big Ten season just over a week away.

Joe Wieskamp scored a career-high 24 points, Bohannon had 18 on six 3s and the No. 23 Hawkeyes blew past Savannah State 110-64 on Saturday for their fourth straight victory.

Wisconsin tops Grambling 84-53 as Happ gets 1,000th rebound

Often, Wisconsin coach Greg Gard says, Wisconsin's defense feeds off its offense. And once the Badgers started capitalizing on opportunities Saturday, the other end took care of itself.

Playing for the first time in nine days, the Badgers shook off an early challenge from Grambling State to beat the Tigers 84-53. Along the way, Ethan Happ led the Badgers (10-2) with 19 points and grabbed his 1,000th career rebound.

Jackson leads No. 15 Ohio State past UCLA 80-66

Ohio State was locked in a tight game with UCLA when Buckeyes coach Chris Holtmann made a small tweak to his approach against the Bruins.

    Then everything changed.

C.J. Jackson scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half, and No. 15 Ohio State handed UCLA its third consecutive loss with an 80-66 victory Saturday.

Winston scores 24, No. 8 Michigan St beats N. Illinois 88-60

Cassius Winston made two 3-pointers in the opening minutes, and it proved to be a preview of what was to come from Michigan State's point guard.

Winston matched a career high with six 3-pointers and scored 24 points, leading the eighth-ranked Spartans to 88-60 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday.

No. 24 Iowa survives lowly Bryant 72-67

It had been over three decades since Iowa had last finished its non-conference team schedule undefeated.

But the 24th-ranked Hawkeyes will resume Big Ten play next week at 0-2 in the league -- and coming off one of their ugliest wins in years.

Tyler Cook scored 19 points with 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double in seven games and 24th-ranked Iowa held off lowly Bryant 72-67 on Saturday night.

No. 2 Michigan pulls away for 74-52 win over Binghamton

After another nondescript December win, John Beilein and Michigan are eager to resume Big Ten play.

"I know people would probably say, you'd like more nonconference games, games you're going to win by 20. I don't want them," Beilein said. "We're done with that."

Iggy Brazdeikis scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half, and No. 2 Michigan eventually pulled away for a 74-52 victory over Binghamton on Sunday. The Wolverines have not had a weekday game since Dec. 4. Since then, they've played one game apiece the last four weekends.

Cowan scores 19 as Maryland gets past No. 24 Nebraska 74-72

Nebraska's final attempt to score had gone awry, and as the buzzer sounded, Maryland's players rushed to the middle of the court to celebrate the team's most significant victory of the season.

"We beat a really good team. We need that for a confidence builder," coach Mark Turgeon said after the Terrapins used a late push to get past No. 24 Nebraska 74-72 on Wednesday night.

Nick Ward was so dominant in the first half he didn't have to score after halftime to help No. 8 Michigan State stay undefeated in Big Ten play.

Ward scored all 21 of his points in the first half to give the Spartans build a big lead and they went on to beat Northwestern 81-55 Wednesday night.

Coffey scores 21 to lead Minnesota past No. 22 Wisconsin

Minnesota coach Richard Pitino dared No. 22 Wisconsin to beat the Golden Gophers from the 3-point arc and the free throw line.

The Badgers weren't up to the challenge.

Amir Coffey scored 21 points and Minnesota put Wisconsin in an early hole before holding off a furious rally to win 59-52 on Thursday night. The Gophers (12-2, 2-1 Big Ten) ended an eight-game losing streak in the rivalry with their first victory at Wisconsin since 2009.

Langford scores 28, No. 21 Indiana defeats Illinois 73-65

Indiana appeared to be in trouble against Illinois in its return from an 11-day layoff.

Then, the No. 21 Hoosiers' defense locked in and freshman Romeo Langford did the rest.

Langford scored a career-high 28 points, Juwan Morgan added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Indiana defeated Illinois 73-65 in a Big Ten matchup Thursday night. The Hoosiers (12-2, 3-0) have won seven straight games.

No. 2 Michigan still unbeaten after beating Penn State 68-55

Jordan Poole is noticing some extra attention from opposing defenses now.

"I think today was the first time that I was actually being denied the ball on the perimeter, so it was something that I had to adjust to," the Michigan sophomore said. "But we know that we were able to read the coverages. I think that's something that really started to get us going later in the second half."

Poole scored 17 points and Iggy Brazdeikis had 16 points and 11 rebounds as No. 2 Michigan returned to Big Ten play with a 68-55 victory over Penn State on Thursday night. It was the ninth straight game in double figures for Poole, who appeared comfortable on a night when his team struggled to get untracked.

No. 8 Michigan State holds off No. 14 Ohio State 86-77

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Riding a seven-game winning streak, No. 8 Michigan State came to Columbus to play No. 14 Ohio State with captain and scoring machine Joshua Langford sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury. The team's two other veterans had to pick up the slack.

Cassius Winston scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half, and Nick Ward had 21 as the Spartans rallied and then pulled away late in the second half to beat Ohio State 86-77 on Saturday in a game that was closer than the final score indicated.

Happ leads No. 22 Wisconsin to 71-52 win over Penn State

After two straight defeats, the Wisconsin Badgers got back to what's made them successful in the past.

    Stingy defense.

Ethan Happ had 22 points and eight rebounds as No. 22 Wisconsin stopped a midseason slide by routing Penn State 71-52 on Sunday. The Badgers held Penn State's talented starting guards to 22 points combined on a night when the Nittany Lions made just 20 of 53 field goal attempts and committed 16 turnovers.

Rutgers stuns No. 16 Ohio State, first major win for Pikiell

Rutgers may not be the doormat of the Big Ten Conference anymore.

Montez Mathis hit two contested layups and Geo Baker nailed a jumper with 10.3 seconds to play as the scrappy Scarlet Knights posted their biggest conference win under coach Steve Pikiell, a 64-61 decision over No. 16 Ohio State on Wednesday.
