Coffey's 32 points helps Minnesota down No. 11 Purdue 73-69

After the students streamed onto the court in celebration of a critical victory over Purdue, the five seniors on Minnesota's roster each took turns with the microphone to thank the fans in another indelible moment from their last home game.

In a season marked by missed opportunities, the Gophers produced a winning finish and in the process denied the Boilermakers' bid for an outright Big Ten title.

Amir Coffey matched his career high with 32 points, making two free throws with 2.5 seconds left on Tuesday night to seal Minnesota's 73-69 victory over No. 11 Purdue and give the Gophers a big boost for an NCAA Tournament berth.

No. 21 Wisconsin routs Iowa 65-45

Wisconsin coach Greg Gard said he had a feeling Ethan Happ would have a good game against Iowa.

    He was right.

Happ did a little bit of everything to help No. 21 Wisconsin beat Iowa 65-45, scoring 21 points in his final home game and grabbing 14 rebounds. He also had three assists, two blocks and two steals, all the while helping keep Iowa's post players in foul trouble for much of the game.

Cowan scores 21 as No. 24 Maryland beats Minnesota 69-60

If Maryland was feeling pressured to snap a two-game losing streak, it sure didn't show prior to the opening tipoff against Minnesota.

The Terrapins completed their warmup session by gathering in the lane to dance to the hip-hop music blaring from the loudspeakers. They laughed and joked with the team's two upperclassmen on Senior Night, and jumped for joy when senior Ivan Bender dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.

And then, No. 24 Maryland kept the good times rolling, completing the regular season with a feel-good 69-60 victory Friday night.

    No. 9 Michigan State 75, No. 7 Michigan 63

Cassius Winston struggled to make shots for more than a half and his rivals took advantage, controlling a game with a share of the Big Ten title at stake.

When Winston started to finally get shots to drop, though, he took over and there wasn't much anyone could do about it.

Winston made five straight baskets in the second half to lead a stunning surge and finished with 23 points and seven assists, lifting No. 9 Michigan State to a 75-63 victory over No. 7 Michigan on Saturday night.

No. 21 Wisconsin survives Ohio State rally for 73-67 OT win

Wisconsin coach Greg Gard wasn't sure whether to be mad at his players for blowing a 23-point second-half lead at Ohio State or happy they found a way to win.

Ultimately, Gard settled on a positive outlook after his 21st-ranked Badgers rallied for a 73-67 overtime win on Sunday.

Winston, Goins lead No. 6 Michigan State into Big Ten final

In a story March 16 about a Big Ten Tournament semifinal between Wisconsin and Michigan State, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Kenny Goins missed a dunk in the closing seconds of the first half. It was Xavier Tillman who missed the dunk.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Winston, Goins lead No. 6 Michigan State into Big Ten final

Cassius Winston, Kenny Goins lead the way as No. 6 Michigan State beats No. 19 Wisconsin 67-55 in Big Ten semis

Winston, Michigan State hold off Bradley 76-65

For about 35 minutes, it felt like Bradley might pull off the first bracket-busting stunner of this year's NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State survived by leaning on the brilliance of Cassius Winston and a remarkably efficient performance at the free throw line.

Winston scored 26 points and second-seeded Michigan State, thanks in part to a season-high, 25-of-26 showing from the line, held off Bradley 76-65 on Thursday in the opening round of the East Region.
