Ayala reaches 1,000, No. 21 Maryland beats Quinnipiac 83-69

Eric Ayala reached his milestone, as expected. It just wasn't a big deal to him and his coach.

Ayala scored 13 points, surpassing 1,000 for his career, and No. 21 Maryland beat Quinnipiac 83-69 to start the season on Tuesday night. Ayala entered the game with 994 points and made a 3-pointer and a three-point play in the early minutes to reach 1,000.

No. 21 Maryland uses strong 2nd half to rally past GW 71-64

Maryland's shots repeatedly bounced off the rim. The Terrapins appeared a bit out of sync while running their offense, and the defense was often a step slow.

Coach Mark Turgeon knew there would be early-season games like this for his revamped team. Fortunately for the Terps, they won anyway.
Qudus Wahab had 18 points and 15 rebounds, Fatts Russell added 15 points and No. 21 Maryland bounced back from a lackluster first half to beat neighboring George Washington 71-64 Thursday night.

No. 6 Purdue dominates middle to take down Wright St 96-52

Purdue forward Trevion Williams used a milestone moment to show off all of his skills Tuesday night.

He delivered the usual highlight dunks, strong rebounds and jarring screens. He also made a nifty behind-the-back pass, took a defender off the dribble, showed he could hit some jumpers and even threw in a couple of dance moves as he celebrated.

Williams finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds, helping the sixth-ranked Boilermakers blow out Wright State 96-52 on a night he became the 16th player in school history with 1,000 points and 650 rebounds.

No. 14 Illini hold off K-State 72-64 in Hall of Fame Classic

Kofi Cockburn missed the first three games of the season for Illinois for violating NCAA rules, and Alfonso Plummer might as well have missed them given the way his normally reliable shot kept bouncing out.

Both of them made their presence known Tuesday night.

Cockburn bruised his way to 23 points and 13 rebounds in his second game back, and Plummer hit seven 3-pointers and added 21 points as the No. 14 Illini held off Kansas State 72-64 in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Classic.

Wisconsin holds off No. 12 Houston with 65-63 upset

No. 12 Houston scored the first 17 points against Butler in the quarterfinals of the Maui Invitational on Monday, and then allowed Wisconsin to score the first 13 points en route to a 20-point halftime deficit in Tuesday's semifinal.

It cost the Cougars in the long run, as Johnny Davis scored a career-high 30 points to lead Wisconsin past Houston 65-63.

Brown, Spartans pull away late to beat No. 22 UConn 64-60

Michigan State followed a thrilling last-second win by blowing a big lead against a worn-down opponent and finding itself trailing late in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Tom Izzo's Spartans advanced anyway with toughness and tenacity in the game's critical moments for the second straight day.

A.J. Hoggard hit the go-ahead free throws with 30.3 seconds left and Michigan State scored the final nine points to push past No. 22 Connecticut 64-60 in Thursday's semifinals, earning a trip to Friday's championship game.

Malik Hall helps No. 22 Michigan State beat Louisville 73-64

    https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=401370126

Malik Hall was the best player No. 22 Michigan State had on the court for stretches, showing flashes of his potential that coach Tom Izzo would like to see more often.

Hall scored eight of his 15 points in a 1:34 stretch early in the second half, helping the Spartans build a big lead they needed to hold off Louisville 73-64 Wednesday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

No. 2 Purdue holds off Iowa 77-70 in Big Ten opener

Trevion Williams showed his senior leadership down the stretch Friday night.

Not only did Williams motivate his teammates, but he led the way with his effort.

Williams contributed 13 points and 18 rebounds, including two huge ones late, Jaden Ivey scored 19 points and No. 2 Purdue held off a late Iowa rally to win 77-70 on Friday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Dickinson 23 points, 14 boards as No. 24 Michigan tops SD St

Hunter Dickinson stayed in school to work on his shot, particularly beyond the 3-point line, and it paid off as he and No. 24 Michigan bounced back from a disappointing showing.

Dickinson scored 23 points, making all three of his 3-pointers, and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the Wolverines beat San Diego State 72-58 Saturday.

Davis leads No. 23 Wisconsin past Marquette 89-76

Brad Davison is no slouch offensively. Still, with a talent like Johnny Davis on Wisconsin's roster, he says sometimes the best approach is to give the sophomore the ball and let him figure it out.

Davis, who averaged seven points a season coming off the bench last year, scored 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting Saturday to lead No. 23 Wisconsin past in-state rival Marquette 89-76.
