No. 3 Purdue beats No. 13 Illini for share of Big Ten lead

Jaden Ivey and Eric Hunter Jr. provided the second-half muscle for No. 3 Purdue on Tuesday night.

They didn't even need much help from their big guys.

Hunter scored all nine of his points during a game-changing run to start the second half and Ivey scored 26 points, 22 coming after he got angry, to help the Boilermakers run away from No. 13 Illinois 84-68.

Rutgers is never out of a basketball game when playing at home and fifth-year senior Geo Baker is feeling it.

Baker had 25 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 18.8 seconds left, and Rutgers scored the final 10 to stun No. 16 Ohio State 66-64 on Wednesday night.

Hall, Walker lead No. 17 Michigan State over Indiana 76-61

Michigan State coach Tom Izzo questioned his team's toughness and emotion earlier in the week following a home loss to Wisconsin.

The No. 17-ranked Spartans responded Saturday with a hard-fought 76-61 victory over Indiana, snapping a two-game losing streak.

Rutgers tops No. 14 Wisconsin, 3rd win in row over T25 team

Rutgers understands it must prove it can beat quality teams on the road to get back into consideration for the NCAA Tournament.

The Scarlet Knights took a giant step in that direction Saturday by winning at Wisconsin for the first time and posting their third straight victory over a ranked opponent. Ron Harper Jr. scored 21 points and Rutgers went on a late 11-0 run in a 73-65 victory over the 14th-ranked Badgers.

Davis' closing flurry sends No. 15 Wisconsin past Indiana

Johnny Davis packed a powerful closing punch Tuesday night.

    Indiana couldn't counter.

The sophomore guard scored the final 13 points for No. 15 Wisconsin, finished with 30 and boosted the Badgers' Big Ten title hopes with a 74-69 comeback victory over the Hoosiers.

Lundy leads Penn State past No. 19 Michigan State 62-58

Micah Shrewsberry was a bit starstruck before Penn State's game against Michigan State.

As the first-year Penn State coach watched the pregame shootaround, he couldn't take his eyes off counterpart Tom Izzo at the other end of the court.

"The standard-bearer for our league," Shrewsberry said. "I'm like, ‘Man, he's about to tie Bob Knight for Big Ten wins for coaches.' That's so impressive. That's longevity man."

Instead of Izzo equaling Knight's 662 Big Ten wins, Shrewsberry earned his first victory over a ranked team.

Seth Lundy hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:37 remaining and finished with 17 points as Penn State beat No. 19 Michigan State 62-58 on Tuesday night.

Michigan coach Howard hits Wisconsin assistant after a loss

Angry about Wisconsin calling a late timeout, Michigan coach Juwan Howard began arguing in the postgame handshake line.

Moments later, he hit a Badgers assistant in the head, and mayhem followed.

The Wolverines' inability to boost their NCAA Tournament credentials was the least of their concerns after a 77-63 loss Sunday at No. 15 Wisconsin. Their head coach could be facing major discipline after his poke turned a pushing-and-shoving scrum into a punch-filled brawl.

Michigan men's basketball coach Juwan Howard suspended for rest of Wolverines' regular season

Michigan coach Juwan Howard is being suspended five games -- the rest of the regular season -- for hitting Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the face after Sunday's game, sources told ESPN on Monday.

An official announcement, as well as punishments for the other coaches and players involved in the postgame altercation, is expected Monday night. Hefty fines are expected to be part of the discipline.

Murray scores 28 as No. 25 Iowa beats Michigan State 86-60

The present made sure to acknowledge the past.

Iowa forward Keegan Murray knew where former teammate Luka Garza, The Associated Press national player of the year last season, was sitting during Tuesday night's game against Michigan State.

So, when Murray scored on a layup while being fouled, he made sure to look over to Garza and give a subtle flex of the muscles the way Garza did.

"I kind of wanted to resemble him a little bit," Murray said, smiling.

"That's his only celebration," teased Kris Murray, Keegan's twin brother.

Keegan Murray had another big performance, scoring 28 points as the 25th-ranked Hawkeyes defeated the struggling Spartans 86-60.

Wisconsin Badgers hold off Gophers 68-67

The Gophers fell short of mounting a comeback, falling to Wisconsin 68-67 at The Barn. The Gopher defense held Johnny Davis in check, they shot well from three as a team and played an overall solid game, but they had no answer for Steven Crowl and Tyler Wahl in the paint who scored 20 and 12 points respectively, combining for 17 rebounds.
