No. 9 Badgers top Purdue to halt 3-game end skid

    - Wisconsin finally found a way to win again -- get back to basics.

Frank Kaminsky scored 16 points and Sam Dekker and Traevon Jackson each had 15 as No. 9 Wisconsin ended a three-game losing streak with a 72-58 victory at Purdue -- a win that should make ailing coach Bo Ryan feel somewhat better.

Re: No. 9 Badgers top Purdue to halt 3-game end skid

The previous time No. 10 Iowa went on the road it was a nightmare. On Saturday, things were a bit smoother for the Hawkeyes.

Roy Devyn Marble scored 14 points and Iowa never trailed, beating Northwestern 76-50.

Gabriel Olaseni had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Mike Gesell added 11 points for the Hawkeyes (16-4, 5-2 Big Ten), who avoided losing consecutive games for the first time this season after falling 75-67 at No. 21 Michigan on Wednesday.

Michigan State deals Iowa its first home loss in wild OT affair

Michigan State had every reason to fold.

The seventh-ranked Spartans were coming off a draining loss to rival Michigan and again were down two starters to surging Iowa -- which was hosting its biggest game in years.

Michigan State responded with the toughness it has shown so often under coach Tom Izzo and emerged from Iowa City with a season-defining win.

Keith Appling scored 16 points and the Spartans outlasted No. 15 Iowa 71-69 in overtime Tuesday night, handing the Hawkeyes their first home loss.

Northwestern upsets No. 14 Wisconsin as Badgers go cold

Drew Crawford played the role of savvy senior leader to perfection.

The Northwestern forward hit a tricky 3 off a curl in the second half. He jumped high and made a long bucket with Wisconsin guard Josh Gasser playing nearly flawless defense, a shot so tough that Crawford pumped his right arm and let out a yell as he jogged back up the court.

Crawford, a fifth-year senior, scored a season-high 30 points, JerShon Cobb added all 10 of his points in the second half and the Wildcats upset the 14th-ranked Badgers 65-56 on Wednesday night.

D.J. Newbill, Penn State upend Ohio State with 2 seconds left in OT

D.J. Newbill didn't know that Ohio State had Penn State's number.

Newbill hit a pull-up jumper over Aaron Craft with 2 seconds left in overtime, lifting Penn State to a 71-70 victory over No. 24 Ohio State on Wednesday night and ending years of futility against the Buckeyes.

Caris LeVert double-double helps No. 10 Michigan keep rolling

After an uncharacteristically sloppy game for the Big Ten leaders, Michigan coach John Beilein was relieved to have won.

"It's going to be a battle all year long," Beilein said. "We're pleased that we could keep our head above water tonight."

Caris LeVert had 14 points and a career-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double, and No. 10 Michigan beat Purdue 75-66 on Thursday night, extending its winning streak to 10. The Wolverines were outrebounded and turned the ball over 16 times, but their brilliant shooting can cover up a lot of problems.

Aaron Craft helps Ohio State escape at Wisconsin

With his fist against his forehead, guard Ben Brust walked off the floor. His sullen look said it all.

No. 14 Wisconsin is free-falling down the Big Ten standings, and not even a game in Kohl Center can help.

Freshman Nigel Hayes had 17 points off the bench, but the Badgers missed a 3 at the buzzer and wasted opportunities at the line in a 59-58 loss to No. 24 Ohio State.

No. 15 Iowa weathers Illini comeback for 81-74 win

It was quite a recovery by No. 15 Iowa. Even coach Fran McCaffery was impressed.

Gabriel Olaseni set career highs with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and the Hawkeyes topped Illinois 81-74 on Saturday night after blowing a big lead.

Yogi Ferrell helps Indiana upset No. 10 Michigan

Yogi Ferrell orchestrates pretty much everything in Indiana's offense.

Coach Tom Crean added another responsibility to Ferrell's plate Sunday: guarding the opponent's top scorer.

Ferrell came through on both ends -- scoring 27 points and shutting down Nik Stauskas -- to lead Indiana to a 63-52 upset of No. 10 Michigan.

Aaron Craft helps improving Buckeyes upset Iowa

It was easy to forget about Ohio State after a string of losses, including one at home to Iowa, sent the Buckeyes tumbling out of the Top 25.

They got the Hawkeyes back in Iowa City behind a signature performance from senior Aaron Craft.

Craft had 17 points with six assists and six steals to help Ohio State upset 17th-ranked Iowa on Tuesday night 76-69 for its third win in four games.

No. 10 Wolverines cruise past Huskers in wake of first Big Ten loss

    - For a second straight game, Nik Stauskas was held to only a few shot attempts from the field.

This time, Michigan didn't need much scoring from its standout sophomore.

"I'm never going to be a player that forces shots," Stauskas said. "If my teammates are open, I'm going to find them."

Freshman Zak Irvin scored all 16 of his points in the first half, and No. 10 Michigan breezed to a 79-50 victory over Nebraska on Wednesday night.

Adreian Payne returns in limited role as Spartans rout Nittany Lions

Adreian Payne returned and Keith Appling sat out.

Just another night in this injury-plagued season for Michigan State, which is still right there at the top of the Big Ten standings.

"I just feel that we're in the hunt right now," Spartans coach Tom Izzo said. "After what we've gone through, we're in the hunt, and that's what I told our players. You've got to be in the hunt before you get a chance to win a championship."

Payne scored 12 points in his first game back from a foot injury, and the ninth-ranked Spartans kept pace in the league race with an 82-67 victory over Penn State on Thursday night.

Roy Devyn Marble scores 26 to help Iowa beat Michigan

Roy Devyn Marble's hot shooting at the start sparked his teammates. It even helped his defense.

Marble scored 22 of his 26 points in the first half and No. 17 Iowa beat No. 10 Michigan 85-67 on Saturday. Marble even drew the defensive assignment on Nik Stauskas for much of the game, holding the Wolverines' leading scorer to 10 points.

Traevon Jackson's jumper lifts Wisconsin over No. 9 Michigan State

In the closing seconds of a close game, Traevon Jackson takes the big shots for Wisconsin.

Doesn't matter if the point guard had been struggling in recent weeks with his shot. Or if he's having a tough day handling the ball, as he did Sunday with five turnovers against Michigan State. Coach Bo Ryan trusts the tough junior.

Jackson rewarded his coach's confidence Sunday after hitting a pull-up jumper from about 10 feet with 2.1 seconds left to lift the Badgers to a 60-58 win over the ninth-ranked Spartans.

No. 15 Michigan beats Ohio State for 1st Columbus win in 11 years

Everybody knows what Nik Stauskas has done this season.

But he had a lot of help from Michigan's freshmen in leading the way to yet another big road win.

Stauskas scored 15 points and freshmen Derrick Walton III and Zak Irvin each had a big game to power the 15th-ranked Wolverines to a 70-60 victory over No. 22 Ohio State on Tuesday night.

No. 9 Michigan St. handles Northwestern to stay tied atop Big Ten

Adreian Payne is surprising even his coach with his recovery from a foot injury.

"It's amazing," Michigan State's Tom Izzo said of his senior star. "Here's a kid that two or three years ago couldn't get up and down the floor more than 15-18 minutes a game. Now he's carrying our team. I'm proud of him."

Payne had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and No. 9 Michigan State cruised past Northwestern 85-70 on Thursday night to stay tied atop the Big Ten. Izzo can only hope his other injured players come back as well as Payne has. Keith Appling was out again with a wrist problem, and Branden Dawson has an injured hand.

No. 21 Wisconsin beats Minnesota 78-70

Diving on the floor for loose balls. Strong drives to the hoop for dunks or to draw fouls. A blocked shot that whipped the "Grateful Red" student section into a frenzy.

Wisconsin's frontcourt regained some of its swagger in a 78-70 win Thursday night over Minnesota.

Melsahn Basabe leads No. 16 Iowa past Penn State

Coach Fran McCaffery didn't need his Iowa team to outwork Penn State. Matching the Nittany Lions toughness was good enough.

Melsahn Basabe scored 16 points as No. 16 Iowa pulled away from Penn State 82-70 on Saturday.

Roy Devyn Marble added 15, Aaron White 14 and Mike Gesell 13 as the Hawkeyes (19-6, 8-4) won their third straight Big Ten road game of the season for the first time since 1998.

No. 22 Ohio State topples poor-shooting Illinois

Ohio State trailed by three at halftime, and coach Thad Matta told the Buckeyes he thought they would find a way to win.

    Turns out, he was right.

Aaron Craft scored 14 points and No. 22 Ohio State held Illinois to 28.3 percent shooting on the way to a scrappy 48-39 win on Saturday night.

Terran Petteway and Walter Pitchford pushed Nebraska to one historic win.

Petteway scored 23 points, Pitchford had 18 and the Cornhuskers beat Michigan State 60-51 on Sunday to get to .500 in the Big Ten for the first time since joining the conference.
