    Ryan Keiser no longer hospitalized

After several surgeries and more than three weeks of hospitalization, Penn State safety Ryan Keiser is finally on his way back to Happy Valley.

Nittany Lions coach James Franklin announced Tuesday that Keiser is out of the hospital and soon intends to rejoin the team. The senior suffered a fractured rib Oct. 23, and he was forced to undergo operations for a related small bowel injury. He remains out for the season.

Ohio State tops Indiana, clinches Big Ten East Division title

Jalin Marshall was the problem last week and the solution Saturday for Ohio State (No. 6 CFP, No. 7 AP).

The freshman returned a punt 54 yards for the go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter and then added three late insurance scores to carry the Buckeyes past Indiana 42-27, the Hoosiers' sixth loss in a row.

No. 11 Michigan St routs Rutgers 45-3

Jeremy Langford and Tony Lippett have seen it all. Saturday, they showed we haven't seen the last of them.

The super-resilient "L & L Men" celebrated senior day in style as Michigan State (No. 11 CFP, No. 10 AP) smashed Rutgers 45-3 on Saturday. They also enjoyed their 40th win in four seasons and 51st in five.

Wisconsin edges Iowa as Melvin Gordon surpasses 2,000 yards

    - Melvin Gordon's single-game rushing record barely lasted a week.

His Heisman Trophy hopes -- and Wisconsin's Big Ten title chances -- are stronger than ever after another brilliant performance from the nation's top running back.

Gordon surpassed 2,000 yards rushing with 200 yards and two touchdowns, and Wisconsin (No. 16 CFP, No. 14 AP) held off Iowa 26-24 on Saturday for its sixth straight win.

No. 25 Minnesota rallies to get past No. 23 Nebraska

Jerry Kill's building project at Minnesota has taken another huge step.

Down by double digits in the third quarter, and with star running back David Cobb on the sideline injured, the Gophers (No. 25 CFP) stunned Nebraska (No. 23 CFP, No. 21 AP) 28-24 on Saturday to keep alive their hopes in the Big Ten West.

Noah Spence's appeal to play denied

An appeal by Ohio State Buckeyes defensive end Noah Spence to have his permanent ineligibility restored by the Big Ten was denied Tuesday, officially ending his career with the program and within the league.

The process reached its conclusion after Spence's case was presented to the conference in an effort to get his ban for failing multiple drug tests overturned and allow the former All-Big Ten selection to return to the No. 6 Buckeyes.

J.T. Barrett injured as No. 6 Buckeyes surge past Michigan

Raw emotion was everywhere: Joy for a win, concern over an injury, shock for a missing player.

The thrill of beating rival Michigan 42-28 on Saturday was tempered for Ohio State (No. 6 CFP, No. 7 AP) by star quarterback J.T. Barrett's broken ankle and the disappearance of teammate Kosta Karageorge.

Michigan State returns opening kickoff, coasts against Penn State

R.J. Shelton's one-handed grab off a squib kick led to his right arm raised in triumph in the end zone.

Shelton needed all of 14 seconds to douse the enthusiasm of the emotional senior day festivities at Beaver Stadium when he returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. His next return should come on a larger stage -- Michigan State again proved its good enough to land a New Year's Bowl invitation.

Jeremy Langford ran for 118 yards and two scores to help the 10th-ranked Spartans warm up for a bowl game with a 34-10 win over Penn State 34-10 on Saturday night.

No. 14 Wisconsin clinches spot in Big Ten title game

With Paul Bunyan's Axe back in his team's possession for another year, Melvin Gordon jumped for joy in the locker room after a victory over a bitter Big Ten rival.

A Wisconsin win Saturday night to claim a berth in next week's league championship game sure made it easier for Gordon to withstand any pain from a sore right ankle.

Gordon ran for 151 yards and accounted for two scores, Joel Stave threw for 215 yards and two touchdown passes and the 14th-ranked Badgers rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to beat Minnesota (No. 18 CFP, No. 22 AP) 34-24 to take the West Division title.

Michigan fires head coach Brady Hoke

Brady Hoke has been told he's been fired as head coach at Michigan, a source told FOX Sports.

Hoke was 31-20 in four seasons at Michigan, but the team's win total declined in each of his four seasons in Ann Arbor, going from 11 wins to eight to seven to this season's 5-7 record. Hoke was also 6-10 in Big Ten play the past two seasons.

A former Wolverine assistant, Hoke's tenure in Ann Arbor started with much promise. He's elevated both the Ball State and San Diego State programs in his two previous stops and went 11-2 and won a Sugar Bowl in his debut season at Michigan, but his offenses struggled as the program went from the transition of his predecessor Rich Rodriguez's spread attack to his style.

Nebraska hires Mike Riley as coach

    - Nebraska has hired Mike Riley to lead its football program.

Riley, 61, comes from Oregon State, where he coached since 2003 after a three-year stint as coach of the San Diego Chargers.

"It is truly an honor to join the University of Nebraska family," Riley said in a statement released by Nebraska. "Though we love Corvallis and Oregon State, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to coach at one of the nation's most storied football programs and I can't wait to get started."

Ohio State blows out Wisconsin for statement win in Big Ten title game

Ohio State's No. 3 quarterback looked every bit as good as the other two.

Cardale Jones even did something his two all-conference predecessors could not. He led the Buckeyes to a Big Ten title.

Jones threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns and was named the game's MVP in his first career start, leading No. 5 Ohio State to a 59-0 rout of No. 13 Wisconsin in Saturday night's conference championship game -- one of the most lopsided title games in Big Ten history and an emphatic statement to the College Football Playoff selection committee.

    QB Michael O'Connor to transfer

Penn State freshman quarterback Michael O'Connor, ESPN's No. 6 signal-caller in the 2014 recruiting class, plans to leave the football program and transfer elsewhere.

He redshirted this season but was expected to compete for the starting job after Christian Hackenberg's departure.

"I loved my time here at Penn State and thank the community for all their support," O'Connor told ESPN.com in a text message.

    Paul Chryst to Wisconsin

Former Wisconsin assistant and current Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst is poised to become the Badgers' new head coach, a source confirmed to ESPN.com.

In a statement Friday, Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said only that the job cannot be offered to any candidate prior to Wednesday because of university hiring policies and that any offer would need approval from the university's board of regents.

"We are continuing the process of finding our new head football coach. We have not offered the position to anyone," Alvarez said in the statement.

    Badgers officially hire Paul Chryst

Paul Chryst is coming home to coach Wisconsin.

The school made it official on Wednesday, hiring Chryst away from Pittsburgh. The announcement ended days of speculation following the surprising departure of Gary Andersen for Oregon State.

Chryst is a former Wisconsin offensive coordinator and a Madison native. He leaves the Panthers after going 19-19 in three seasons, returning to his hometown and alma mater.

"Very appreciative and honored for this opportunity," he said.

    Connor Cook indicates return

Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook says he has "unfinished business" that he would like to take care of and indicated he plans to be back with the Spartans as a senior.

Cook passed for 2,900 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first full season as Michigan State's starter this year. He played most of the 2013 season while leading the Spartans to a Rose Bowl victory.

"I have unfinished business that I want to accomplish next year," Cook said Tuesday. "I think the only way I can do that is if I return."

The Spartans (No. 8 CFP; No. 7 AP) play Baylor (No. 5 CFP, No. 4 AP) in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Jan. 1.

PSU edges BC on game-winning extra point in OT to win Pinstripe Bowl

At Yankee Stadium, Sam Ficken was Penn State's captain in the clutch.

Ficken used Derek Jeter's old locker, then showed No. 2 must have left behind some postseason kismet. He booted a walk-off winner deep into Monument Park, kicking the extra point that Boston College could not to give the Nittany Lions a 31-30 overtime win in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Jones, a sophomore, had 11 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns and four carries for 42 yards this season.
