No. 7 Michigan State pulls away late to beat Indiana

For most of the game, it felt as if Michigan State was one play away from being in real trouble.

Connor Cook never let it come to that.

Cook threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns, and No. 7 Michigan State remained undefeated with a 52-26 victory over Indiana on Saturday. Cook threw all four of his touchdown passes on third down, and he fell just short of the school record of 400 yards passing, set by Bill Burke in 1999 against Michigan.

No. 10 Iowa holds off Maryland 31-15

Unbeaten Iowa kicked off the supposedly soft part of its schedule with a win that wasn't exactly pleasing to the eye.

Coach Kirk Ferentz couldn't care less.

All he sees is that his Hawkeyes are 8-0.

Desmond King had an 88-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and 10th-ranked Iowa beat Maryland 31-15 Saturday.

No. 15 Michigan stuffs Minnesota at 1-yard line as time expires

Two weeks after a gut-wrenching loss to rival Michigan State, the Michigan Wolverines found themselves 18 inches away from losing on the final play again.

This time, the Wolverines let their opponent make the big mistake instead of the other way around.

Wilton Speight came off the bench and threw a 12-yard touchdown pass toJehu Chesson with under 5 minutes to play, and No. 15 Michigan stoppedMitch Leidner on a sneak as time expired to escape with a 29-26 victory over Minnesota on Saturday night.

    State over Minnesota 28-14

The quarterback switch? Not so smooth. Everything else? Just good enough to keep Ohio State unbeaten.

And now, coach Urban Meyer has to decide whether to switch passers again.

Ezekiel Elliott weaved 15 yards for a touchdown on Ohio State's only lengthy drive, and the Buckeyes (No. 3 CFP, No. 1 AP) weathered Minnesota's two fourth-quarter touchdowns for a 28-14 victory Saturday night.

Brandon Reilly's controversial TD lifts Nebraska over Michigan State

This time one went Nebraska's way, and now Michigan State's playoff hopes are in jeopardy.

Tommy Armstrong drove Nebraska 91 yards in the final minute, hittingBrandon Reilly with a 30-yard touchdown pass that withstood a video review with 17 seconds left to hand the Spartans (No. 7 CFP, No. 6 AP) a devastating 39-38 loss on Saturday night.

No. 9 Iowa gets past Hoosiers 35-27 to stay perfect

C.J. Beathard had the perfect ending for a painful Saturday.

He kept Iowa (No. 9 CFP, No. 10 AP) unbeaten and in prime position to make a playoff run.

The Hawkeyes quarterback, who has battled a groin injury for the past month, hurt his back on a leaping go-ahead touchdown run late in the first half, continued to play and threw a 10-yard TD pass to George Kittlewith 6:03 left in the game to wrap up a crucial 35-27 victory at Indiana.

No. 14 Oklahoma State stays perfect while dealing No. 8 TCU first loss

How's this for a playoff statement?

By dominating previously unbeaten TCU on Saturday, Oklahoma State gained control of the Big 12 championship race, and perhaps much more.

Mason Rudolph passed for 352 yards and five touchdowns, James Washington caught five passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns, and the Cowboys (No. 14 CFP, No. 12 AP) pulled off a 49-29 upset of the Horned Frogs (No. 8 CFP, No. 5 AP).

Mitchell's kick gives Northwestern win over Penn State

Even though he had missed two field goals and an extra point, Northwestern kicker Jack Mitchell still had the confidence of coach Pat Fitzgerald.

Mitchell justified that faith when it mattered the most.

Mitchell's 35-yard field goal with nine seconds left gave the Wildcats a 23-21 win Saturday over thePenn State Nittany Lions. Backup quarterback Zack Oliver passed for one touchdown and ran for another, and Justin Jackson rushed for a career-high 186 yards for Northwestern.

Rudock leads No. 17 Michigan to a 49-16 Rutgers rout

Jim Harbaugh refused to show mercy asMichigan (No. 17 CFP, No. 16 AP) was routing Rutgers. And he's not sorry.

Jake Rudock threw for two touchdowns and a career-high 337 yards and ran for a score and an eyebrow-raising, 2-point conversion to lead the Wolverines in a 49-16 win over the Scarlet Knights on Saturday.

No. 5 Iowa holds off Minnesota 40-35

It seems like every week, Iowa finds someone else to help it stave off defeat.

This time it, LeShun Daniels gave the Hawkeyes just enough to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Daniels rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns and No. 8 Iowa held off Minnesota 40-35 on Saturday night to start 10-0 for the first time in school history.

No. 13 Michigan State beats Maryland despite Connor Cook's injury

With Connor Cook on the sideline wearing a headset, Michigan State (No. 13 CFP, No. 14 AP) eased its way through the second half against Maryland.

The Spartans didn't really need their star quarterback on this day. Next weekend is a different story.

"Connor will be all right," coach Mark Dantonio said. "I think he could have gone, but he felt like if he threw it hard, it would set him back."

Cook left the game at halftime with a shoulder problem, putting a bit of a damper on Michigan State's 24-7 victory over Maryland on Saturday, but the senior quarterback didn't sound too concerned about his availability for next weekend's showdown at Ohio State.

Late TD lifts Northwestern over Purdue

Justin Jackson didn't care how close the score was against struggling Purdue. All that mattered was another win by Northwestern (No. 18 CFP, No. 24 AP).

As for the margin of victory?

"It's a Big Ten game," the Wildcats running back said. "It's gonna be tough."

Jackson ran for 116 yards and a late touchdown, and Warren Long ran for two more TDs to lead Northwestern to a 21-14 victory over Purdue on Saturday.

No. 14 Michigan hangs on for 48-41 win over Indiana in 2OT

Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock kept taking advantage of his opportunities Saturday.

Six times he threw for touchdowns. Twice he saved the Wolverines' conference title hopes.

And when he finally saw Michigan's usually stout defense make a goal-line stand in the second overtime, a relieved Rudock finally got to celebrate by singing with his teammates to the people who made the trip to Bloomington.

The fifth-year senior threw one TD pass with two seconds left in regulation and two more on more on back-to-back plays in overtime, then watched excitedly as Indiana's Mitchell Paige bobbled a pass on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line to help Michigan (No. 14 CFP, No. 15 AP) barely fend off Indiana 48-41 in double overtime.

Michigan State ends Ohio State's 23-game win streak on last-second FG

The last place Michael Geiger, all 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds of him, wanted to end up was at the bottom of a pile of Michigan State football players.

The junior kicker booted through a 41-yard field goal as time expired and then sprinted away from a swarm of celebrating Spartans after Michigan State (No. 9 CFP, No. 9 AP) upset Ohio State (No. 3 CFP, No. 2 AP) 17-14 on Saturday to snap the Buckeyes' 23-game winning streak.

Iowa tops Purdue, clinches Big Ten West

Iowa barely acknowledged winning the Big Ten West.

The Hawkeyes have much bigger goals.

C.J. Beathard threw three touchdown passes, and Iowa (No. 5 CFP, No. 6 AP) clinched the West title and a spot in the Big Ten championship game with a 40-20 win over Purdue on Saturday.

Jake Rudock leads Michigan past Penn State

Jim Harbaugh was sure after Saturday's win over Penn State that his team was ready for a shot to compete for its first Big Ten title in over a decade.

He felt even more confident when he overheard return man Jourdan Lewis make a bold proclamation before a late kickoff return. With the Nittany Lions needing a quick stop for a chance to win a one-possession game, Lewis predicted he would break Penn State's back and he did just that, bouncing off tacklers for a 55-yard return. Michigan (No. 12 CFP, No. 14 AP) punched in a score six plays later to seal the 28-16 win.

    Northwestern holds off Wisconsin

No. 20 Northwestern finished strong, and benefited from a few favorable calls and a slew of Wisconsin mistakes.

It made for a finish that was so wild even Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald was a little stunned.

Justin Jackson ran for 139 yards and a touchdown, and the Wildcats used a goal-line stand to hold on for a 13-7 victory over the Badgers (No. 25 CFP, No. 21 AP) on Saturday.
