Iowa edges Nebraska to complete 12-0 regular season, stay in playoff hunt

Iowa certainly didn't change the minds of critics who say the Hawkeyes don't look the part of a national championship contender.

They didn't do a whole lot on offense against Nebraska, their defense gave up a lot of yards again and they muffed a punt.

When the clock struck 0:00 Friday, though, they were celebrating a 28-20 victory that finished their first perfect regular season in 93 years.

Michigan State takes division with rout of Penn State

Connor Cook began waving his arms, motioning for the crowd to yell louder.

Michigan State had turned its final home game into a blowout, so Cook didn't need the fans to be quiet as he lined up to take another snap.

"I was trying to have fun with it. It's our last time in Spartan Stadium," the senior quarterback said. "I just wanted to get the crowd into it, because I knew Jack was going to score."

The Spartans (No. 5 CFP, No. 6 AP) capped their home finale by letting senior center Jack Allen run for a touchdown, and Michigan State wrapped up a spot in the Big Ten championship game with a 55-16 victory over Penn State on Saturday. It was the most emphatic win of the season for the Spartans, who will play unbeaten Iowa for the conference title next weekend. The winner will be in good position to advance to college football's playoff.

Jake Rudock helps Michigan trounce Florida in Citrus Bowl

Michigan and Florida's Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl matchup was supposed to play out as an evenly matched struggle between two of the top defenses from the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference.

Someone forgot to tell the Wolverines.

Jake Rudock threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns and Michigan's defense dominated throughout in the No. 14 Wolverines' 41-7 victory over No. 19 Florida on Friday in the Citrus Bowl.

Ezekiel Elliott rushes for Fiesta Bowl record-tying 4 TDs as Buckeyes blitz Irish

Ezekiel Elliott bulldozed his way into the end zone in the first half, showing off his strength as Ohio State's drive capper.

He flashed his speed in the second, becoming the show stopper as he raced up the middle for a long run.

Those skills should translate well in the NFL. They certainly worked out for the Buckeyes over the past three seasons.

Elliott ran for 149 yards and matched a Fiesta Bowl record with four touchdowns to close the curtain on his college career, sparking No. 7 Ohio State's prolific offense in a 44-28 win over No. 8 Notre Dame on Friday.

Jordan Fuller won't be in Michigan's recruiting class.

But Michigan will still see plenty of him over the next four years.

Ohio State WR Corey Smith granted 6th year of eligibility, Urban Meyer confirms

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer confirmed on his National Signing Day radio show that receiver Corey Smith has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Smith suffered a broken leg last year against Indiana and missed the final eight games of the season, including the Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame.

Meyer said on his radio show on 97.1 The Fan that Smith would have to,"handle his business, and he will," to fully return to the Buckeyes in 2016.

Getting Smith back is a big deal for Ohio State because the Buckeyes are a little thin at receiver, at least when it comes to experience. If he is back at full go in 2016, Smith would be in his third year playing in Meyer's offense after signing with the Buckeyes as a junior college prospect in 2013.

Michigan suspends DE Shelton Johnson, WR Ahmir Mitchell

As the 2016 college football season approaches, Michigan will not have two of its freshman players with them until further notice.

The Wolverines have suspended defensive end Shelton Johnson and wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell, according to The Associated Press. Head coach Jim Harbaugh initially refused to give reporters the names of the two players, however an athletic department spokesman for Michigan has confirmed the suspensions.

Trevon Grimes, Tyjon Lindsey commit to Buckeyes

Ohio State added to its top-ranked recruiting class Monday by landing ESPN 300 wide receivers Trevon Grimes and Tyjon Lindsey.

Alabama has the second-most ESPN 300 commits with 13, followed byLSU with 12, but Ohio State is running away from the field by adding Grimes and Lindsey.

Purdue names David Blough starting quarterback

No surprise - David Blough is Purdue's starting quarterback.

Coach Darrell Hazell made the announcement Monday after meeting with the team's quarterbacks. Redshirt freshman Elijah Sindelar was also in the mix.

"He’s made outstanding decisions with the ball in his hands and protected the football," Hazell said. "I think this team is ready to go very far with him as our quarterback."

Blough has the experience, starting eight games last season before suffering a concussion at Iowa. The Texas native took over the starting role in the fourth game against Bowling Green, replacing Austin Appleby. In that game, Blough threw for a career-high 340 yards, completing 29 of 39 passes. He threw for four touchdowns and 274 yards against Nebraska.

Ohio State WR Torrance Gibson suspended for season

Gibson, a redshirt freshman, is a former 4-star quarterback who was set to make the transition from QB to wide receiver after sitting out last season. He was expected to contribute in 2016.

Last year, a lack of confidence pushed him down the depth chart and pushed into his life away from football. He began to miss classwork and was suspended by the football program for an unspecified violation of team rules in October.

He was a phone call away from quitting.

Now, he’ll miss his second consecutive season.

Gibson three for over 4,000 yards in his high school career with 44 touchdown passes, 2,275 rushing yards and 28 scores on the ground.

Buckeyes safety Cam Burrows likely out for season

Cam Burrows was a curious omission from the depth chart Ohio State football chart that was released on Tuesday.

    Now we know why.

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said on Wednesday that Burrows, a fourth-year junior, is likely to miss the entire 2016 season with a foot injury. Meyer did not go into specifics on the injury, but Burrows missed most of the 2015 season with an undisclosed foot injury.

No. 12 Michigan State makes key plays in 4th to hold off Furman

Tyler O'Connor's stats were fine, and Michigan State won.

The night still could have been a lot better.

O'Connor threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns, and the 12th-ranked Spartans held off upset-minded Furman 28-13 on Friday. O'Connor went 13 of 18 with an interception in his second career start, but Michigan State let the Paladins hang around for a while in the opener for both teams.

Wisconsin shocks No. 5 LSU, 16-14

Rafael Gaglianone booted the 47-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Wisconsin's defense backed up their strong-legged kicker with a late-game interception.

Then LSU offensive lineman Josh Boutte delivered a devastating hit.

The Badgers staved off the fifth-ranked Tigers' desperate last-ditch drive for a 16-14 victory Saturday in a game that dealt an early blow to LSU's national title hopes.

Speight throws 3 TDs, No. 7 Michigan routs Hawaii 63-3

Wilton Speight rolled right and threw an interception on his first snap as a starter. When he got his next chance to take the field, Michigan was backed up to its 2.

    No problem.

Speight led the seventh-ranked Wolverines down the field on a 98-yard touchdown drive, capping it with his first of three straight touchdown passes in a 63-3 win over Hawaii on Saturday, their most lopsided victory since 1975.

No. 6 Ohio St posts record romp over Bowling Green 77-10

Ohio State scored 10 offensive touchdowns and rolled up a school record 776 yards in beating Bowling Green Saturday, but was it enough to impress coach Urban Meyer?

    Maybe not yet.

After the 77-10 romp, Meyer made it clear that he wants to see what his team can do when the competition gets more difficult, especially in two weeks when the No. 6 Buckeyes have to travel to Oklahoma.
