Wadley runs No. 17 Iowa to 45-21 win over Miami (Ohio)

No. 17 Iowa's backfield tandem of Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels looked spectacular in its opener.

The same couldn't be said for the Hawkeyes defense, which looked lost at times against a Mid-American opponent that won just three games last season.

Wadley ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns, Daniels added 83 yards rushing and two scores, and Iowa beat Miami (Ohio) 45-21 on Saturday.

Ohio State overcomes sluggish start to beat Tulsa 48-3

Ohio State's stout defense hasn't allowed a touchdown in two games against overmatched Bowling Green and Tulsa. Urban Meyer knows the first real test will come at No. 14 Oklahoma next week.

The Buckeyes intercepted four of Tulsa quarterback Dane Evans' passes Saturday -- including pick-sixes by safety Malik Hooker and cornerbackMarshon Lattimore -- in in a 48-3 victory.

No. 5 Michigan routs Central Florida 51-14, another easy win

Wilton Speight faced a defense determined to stop the run.

Instead of being stubborn and sticking with a ground game, No. 5 Michigan asked Speight to put the ball in the air a lot and it worked out well.

Speight threw four touchdown passes, two to Jake Butt and two toAmara Darboh, to help the Wolverines rout the Knights 51-14 Saturday.

Clement scores twice, No. 10 Wisconsin stuffs Akron 54-10

Corey Clement is proving he can carry a full workload for No. 10 Wisconsin.

The passing game is starting to round into form, too, which might turn into a key development if Clement's ankle injury becomes a nagging issue.

Clement ran for two scores before rolling his left ankle on his last carry, and Wisconsin stuffed Akron's spread offense in a 54-10 win on Saturday.

No. 16 Iowa throttles Iowa State 42-3

Funny things tend to happen when Iowa and Iowa State get together.

This year's matchup was a record-setting rout for the Hawkeyes -- and it ended with a wedding engagement for one of Iowa's biggest stars.

C.J. Beathard threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns and 16th-ranked Iowa throttled Iowa State 42-3 on Saturday night, its biggest win over the rival Cyclones in 18 seasons under coach Kirk Ferentz.

4 Minnesota Gophers football players reportedly investigated in criminal sexual conduct case

Four University of Minnesota football players are reportedly under police investigation for a possible connection to an alleged criminal sexual conduct case involving a 22-year-old woman.

The allegation, reported Sept. 3, was found in a police-aided records search, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on its website Monday.

On Saturday, a Minneapolis Police Department spokesman said four Gophers players were mentioned in an unspecified case.

The alleged incident happened the morning of Sept. 2, hours after Minnesota’s season-opening victory over Oregon State at TCF Bank Stadium, according to the Pioneer Press, and no names were listed in the police report.

Brown, Barrett lead No. 3 Ohio St. past Oklahoma

Noah Brown's circus catch summed up Ohio State's victory over Oklahoma.

Even when Sooners were in the right place, things went the Buckeyes' way.

In the closing seconds of the first half, Noah Brown reached around Michiah Quick and held onto Quick and a pass from J.T. Barrett while falling out of bounds for a 21-yard touchdown reception.

"I did see it when I caught it," Brown said. "When I had it behind his back, I was just thinking, `Just hold on until I get to the ground and try to make this play,' and I was able to do it."

Brown, who entered the game with five catches and one touchdown in his career, tied a school record with four touchdown receptions as No. 3 Ohio State rolled past No. 14 Oklahoma 45-24 on Saturday night.

No. 4 Michigan rallies for 45-28 victory over Colorado

No. 4 Michigan was tested for the first time this season, falling behind by two touchdowns twice in the first quarter and by four points in the second half.

The Wolverines responded well to the challenge, going ahead on De'Veon Smith's 42-yard run early in the third quarter and pulling away to beat Colorado 45-28 on Saturday.

No. 9 Wisconsin surges late to beat Georgia State 23-17

This is not the right time for No. 9 Wisconsin to have questions at quarterback, not with Big Ten play starting next week.

But backup Alex Hornibrook may have put himself back into a competition with starter Bart Houston behind center after sparking the Badgers' sluggish offense on Saturday.

Hornibrook led three second-half scoring drives, helping Wisconsin avert an embarrassing upset with a 23-17 win on Saturday over Georgia State.

Armstrong's late TD helps Huskers past No. 22 Ducks 35-32

With legs that he said felt like Jello, Armstrong took off on a quarterback draw, made two tacklers miss and scored a 34-yard touchdown with 2:29 left Saturday, lifting Nebraska to a 35-32 victory over No. 22 Oregon.

Ohio State’s Greg Schiano hits bicyclist with his car

Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Greg Schiano hit a bicyclist with his car early Thursday morning, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

The 26-year-old male bicyclist suffered a head injury, but is expected to fine.

“We are very concerned about the young man who was injured,” said Chris Davey, assistant vice president for media relations for Ohio State.

No. 4 Michigan gets 6 rushing TDs in 49-10 rout of Penn St

Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight took a beating last week against Colorado. This week, he spent most of the day standing back and watching his teammates do all the work.

De'Veon Smith led an overwhelming ground game with 107 yards rushing and a touchdown and Karan Higdon ran for two scores and No. 4 Michigan routed Penn State 49-10 on Saturday in both teams' Big Ten opener.

No. 11 Wisconsin routs No. 8 Michigan State 30-6

By the time Alex Hornibrook's first start was over, there wasn't much question about whether he could handle one of the toughest road tests in the Big Ten.

Hornibrook threw for 195 yards and a touchdown, and 11th-ranked Wisconsin turned its early-season showdown with No. 8 Michigan State into a rout, beating the Spartans 30-6 on Saturday.

Armstrong Jr. leads No. 20 Nebraska over Northwestern 24-13

It looks as if No. 20 Nebraska's return to the Top 25 won't be a one-week affair.

Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw for 246 yards and ran for a career-high 132 yards to lead the Cornhuskers to a 24 -13 victory over Northwestern on Saturday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Barrett sets record, Ohio State blows out Rutgers 58-0

The talk all week was whether former Ohio State assistant and current Rutgers coach Chris Ash could take advantage of his familiarity with the Buckeyes' defense.

    The answer: Forget about it.

The stifling Ohio State defense overwhelmed the Scarlet Knights on the way to methodical 58-0 dismantling Saturday at Ohio Stadium.

No. 4 Michigan beats No. 8 Wisconsin 14-7, stays undefeated

Jourdan Lewis leaped, fully extended his right arm, squeezed the point of the football into his palm and pinned it against his hip.

No. 4 Michigan needed the spectacular play to seal its latest victory, the first one that wasn't a rout this season.

Wilton Speight threw a tiebreaking, 46-yard touchdown pass to Amara Darboh midway through the fourth quarter and Lewis made his spectacular play near midfield with 2:15 left, helping the Wolverines hold on to beat No. 8 Wisconsin 14-7 on Saturday. The interception was reminiscent of a one-handed reception famously made by a New York Giants receiver.

Indiana uses late rally to upset No. 17 Spartans 24-21 in OT

Indiana finally took advantage of its opportunities Saturday night and delivered a signature Big Ten win for coach Kevin Wilson.

Richard Lagow caught one touchdown pass and threw for two more. The Hoosiers forced Michael Geiger to try a 49-yard field goal after back-to-back sacks. And after Griffin Oakes missed his third field goal of the game, a leaping call against No. 17 Michigan State gave him a second chance and he made a 20-yarder two plays later to complete an improbable come-from-behind 24-21 upset over the Spartans.

Newby's late flurry sends No. 15 Huskers past Illini 31-16

Nebraska's fourth-quarter dominance showed up again Saturday. This time it was Terrell Newby leading the way.

The senior ran for 113 of his 140 yards and scored two touchdowns in the last 15 minutes, just in time for the 15th-ranked Cornhuskers to turn back Illinois' upset bid and win 31-16.
