New Jersey native Jabril Peppers runs No. 4 Michigan past Rutgers in 78-0 rout

Jabrill Peppers might be more than Mr. Everything for Michigan. He could be Mr. Heisman, too.

Peppers ran for a career-high two touchdowns and set up another score with a 63-yard scamper in his return to his native New Jersey and No. 4 Michigan routed Rutgers 78-0 on Saturday night in a game in which the Scarlet Knights were limited to 22 yards total yards and two first downs.

No. 2 Ohio State struggles at times but downs Indiana 38-17

Ohio State's usually crisp passing game was mostly shut down by Indiana on Saturday so J.T. Barrett had to get it done on the ground.

Barrett rushed a career-high 26 times for 137 yards and a touchdown and threw for another score and No. 2 Ohio State beat Indiana 38-17. Barrett was 9-of-23 for 93 yards passing.

Barrett, No. 2 Ohio State charge past No. 8 Wisconsin in OT

J.T. Barrett escaped Wisconsin's pressure and shook off a mistake.

Ohio State's do-it-all quarterback proved his mettle after halftime in the toughest of road environments, accounting for three touchdowns and setting a school record in the process.

Barrett threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to leaping receiver Noah Brownin overtime, and the second-ranked Buckeyes finished off the eighth-ranked Badgers with a sack on fourth-and-goal from the 4 for a 30-23 win on Saturday night.

No. 10 Nebraska hangs on for 27-22 victory at Indiana

No. 10 Nebraska finally finished off Indiana on Saturday.

    Barely.

They needed Stanley Morgan Jr. to take advantage of two Indiana safeties running into one another for a 72-yard TD catch. They needed a break from the officials -- and the replay booth -- when Terrell Newby nearly lost a fumble with the Cornhuskers clinging to a two-point lead with 2:06 to play. They needed a 39-yard field goal with 45 seconds left to force the Hoosiers to drive for a touchdown and they needed an interception on the Hoosiers' final series to close it out.

No. 3 Michigan tops Illinois 41-8, tunes up for Michigan St

Wilton Speight faked a handoff and delivered a strike to Tyrone Wheatley Jr. for a 21-yard touchdown as the tight end when from right to left. Later, he drilled the ball to Amara Darboh, putting it where only the receiver could catch it between a couple defenders as he zipped from left to right.

He was so sharp and his team was up by so much that he didn't even have to play the whole game.

Speight threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns in three quarters before watching No. 3 Michigan finish off Illinois 41-8 Saturday.

UPSET: Penn State topples No. 2 Ohio State 24-21

The white out in the stands became the white out on the field as Penn State fans mobbed their Nittany Lions. Well after the biggest victory of the post-Joe Paterno era was over, the cries of "We Are! Penn State!" echoed underneath 56-year-old Beaver Stadium and bounced off its big rusty metal beams.

It felt like the good ol' days for Penn State football and Happy Valley was downright ecstatic Saturday night after the Nittany Lions upset No. 2 Ohio State 24-21.

No. 8 Huskers pull away from Purdue in 2nd half, win 27-14

Nebraska's victory over Purdue won't convince skeptics who've been saying the No. 8 Cornhuskers aren't worthy of a top-10 ranking.

The wait to find out how good they really are is almost over.

In their final tuneup before their Big Ten West showdown at No. 10 Wisconsin, they came back from a four-point halftime deficit to beat the Boilermakers 27-14 Saturday.

No. 2 Michigan stays unbeaten with 32-23 win at Michigan St

All Michigan needed was an exclamation point -- a final flourish that would add a little extra satisfaction to this big victory on a rival's home field.

When Michigan State fumbled while attempting a puzzling 2-point conversion with 1 second left, Jabrill Peppers scooped up the loose ball and ran all the way to the end zone. Then the celebration really began.

"It was just icing on the cake," Michigan quarterback Wilton Speightsaid. "I think we all had figured that we won at that point. Going for two, I'm sure there was a reason for that, but for Jabrill to pick that up and take it to the house, that felt good."

The defensive conversion by Peppers capped a 32-23 victory for the second-ranked Wolverines, who beat the skidding Spartans for only the second time in the last nine meetings. Peppers also scored a touchdown in the first quarter, and when the game's last second finally ticked off, he did a triumphant backflip for good measure.

No. 11 Wisconsin beats No. 7 Nebraska 23-17 in overtime

Safety D'Cota Dixon turned around in the end zone and extended his right arm in front of receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. to swat away Nebraska's desperation pass on fourth down.

This time, No. 11 Wisconsin found a way to finish in overtime.

Dare Ogunbowale scored on an 11-yard run in overtime, the defense followed up with a clutch stop and the Badgers held on to beat No. 7 Nebraska 23-17 on Saturday night to hand the Cornhuskers their first loss of the season.

Big second half helps No. 24 Nittany Lions romp

Penn State crossed several items off its to-do list Saturday in becoming bowl eligible, staying within a game of first place in the Big Ten East and ending a seven-game road losing streak.

Saquon Barkley ran for 207 yards and two touchdowns, Trace McSorley threw three scoring passes, and the Nittany Lions used a 24-point third quarter as the centerpiece of their 62-24 victory against Purdue.

Wilton Speight helps No. 3 Michigan rout Maryland 59-3

Jim Harbaugh is stumping for another Heisman Trophy candidate, shifting his lobbying efforts from Jabrill Peppers to Wilton Speight.

The steady quarterback finished with a career-high 362 yards after accounting for three touchdowns and setting a school record in the first half, helping No. 3 Michigan build a huge lead before coasting to a 59-3 win over Maryland on Saturday. Harbaugh said Speight is playing so well he should be mentioned as someone who could be voted the nation's most outstanding college football player.

Samuel and No. 6 Ohio State cruise past No. 10 Nebraska 62-3

Urban Meyer seemed to be feeling pretty good about his team in the week leading up to Ohio State's game against Nebraska.

Despite three previous weeks of tight games -- including a stinging loss -- spotty offense and a general lack of "explosiveness," the Buckeyes coach exuded confidence.

"No, I've been going to acting school," Meyer said. "I was a mess."

The Buckeyes expected another tight tussle with the 10th-ranked Huskers. Instead, they scored one of the most dominant victories in the storied history of the program.

Curtis Samuel had 178 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard touchdown reception on Ohio State's first play of the second half, and the sixth-ranked Buckeyes pounded Nebraska 62-3 on Saturday night.

Clement leads No. 8 Wisconsin to 21-7 win over Northwestern

It wasn't just about building on a huge victory and a return to the Top 10 for No. 8 Wisconsin. The Badgers wanted to end their recent struggles against Northwestern.

To that end, they also succeeded.

Corey Clement ran for 106 yards and a touchdown, Jazz Peavy scored on a 46-yard run and Wisconsin beat Northwestern 21-7 on Saturday.

No. 12 Penn State hammers Iowa 41-14

Despite the new carpet and windows, faster elevators and some fresh paint, Beaver Stadium's press box still shakes and rattles when Penn State is rolling.

It swayed early and often on Saturday night as the No. 12 Nittany Lions hammered Iowa 41-14 in front of more than 106,000 fans, buzzing with Top 25 football back in Happy Valley.

Iowa upsets No. 3 Michigan 14-13 on last-second field goal

Michigan failed its first major road test of the season.

It might not matter for the Wolverines and their playoff hopes -- if they win out.

Freshman Keith Duncan kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired and Iowa stunned third-ranked Michigan 14-13 on Saturday night, damaging the Wolverines' playoff hopes.

No. 7 Wisconsin rolls to 48-3 win over Illinois

    Finally, Wisconsin had a breather.

Tested week after week with close games against the Big Ten's tougher teams, the seventh-ranked Badgers assumed the role of playoff contender in beating up on one of the league's weaker squads.

Corey Clement ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns, Dare Ogunbowale added 103 yards on seven carries and Wisconsin's defense intercepted Illinois quarterback Jeff George Jr. four times in rolling to a 48-3 win on Saturday.

Tough Tommy: Armstrong leads No. 19 Nebraska

Knocked unconscious in last week's game, Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. wasn't medically cleared to play against Minnesota until hours before the Saturday night.

Everything was going great until the third quarter when he injured his left ankle on a sneak and needed help to the sideline. When the offense returned to the field early in the fourth, Memorial Stadium roared at the sight of Armstrong, and he went on to lead the No. 19 Cornhuskers 91 yards to the tiebreaking touchdown in a 24-17 victory.
