Comeback! No. 6 Ohio State rallies to beat No. 2 Penn State

In the tunnel at Ohio Stadium that leads from locker room to the field, J.T. Barrett was posing for pictures with friends, receiving handshakes and hugs and thanking one older man with a scratchy voice for screaming himself hoarse.

Barrett smiled and laughed. Apparently, the Ohio State quarterback even busted out some moves in the locker room celebration. The stoic fifth-year senior doesn't show much emotion on the field. And if he gained any particular gratification from playing the best game of his decorated career seven weeks after a lot of Buckeyes fans were wondering if he should be benched, he was not about to let on.

This is certain: When Barrett said goodbye to his friends and left the Horseshoe on Saturday night he did so as a Heisman Trophy candidate with absolutely nothing left to prove.

Barrett was near flawless against No. 2 Penn State, capping a brilliant performance with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Baugh with 1:48 left in the fourth quarter that gave No. 6 Ohio State a 39-38 victory.

Northwestern stuns No. 16 Michigan State 39-31 in 3 OT

A gory injury couldn't knock Nate Hall out of the game or stop him from coming up with Northwestern's biggest interception of the season.

Hall picked off Brian Lewerke in the end zone on the game's final play -- even though he had 30 stitches in his left hand -- after Clayton Thorson threw a 22-yard touchdown to Flynn Nagel in the third overtime to lead the Wildcats to a 39-31 victory over No. 16 Michigan State on Saturday.

No. 24 Spartans wait out delay, upset No. 7 Penn State 27-24

Michael Geiger had the windmill. Now Matt Coghlin has the slide.

On a long, wet, wacky day at Spartan Stadium, Coghlin's celebration sure felt appropriate.

Coghlin kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired -- some seven hours after the game began -- and No. 24 Michigan State upset No. 7 Penn State 27-24 on Saturday night in a game that was delayed nearly 3 1/2 hours by severe weather in the second quarter. After making his winning kick, Coghlin ran back down the field and slid across it on his stomach while his teammates joined him in celebration.

Stanley, Hawkeyes throttle No. 3 Ohio State 55-24

Big Ten teams with national title hopes should know by now to be wary of Kinnick Stadium in November.

The Ohio State Buckeyes weren't -- and their playoff aspirations are likely cooked because of it.

Nate Stanley threw for 226 yards and five touchdowns, and Iowa throttled third-ranked Ohio State 55-24 on Saturday, dealing what's likely to be a fatal blow to the Buckeyes' hopes of reaching college football's Final Four.

Taylor, Ingold help No. 4 Wisconsin run over Indiana 45-17

Jonathan Taylor set up No. 4 Wisconsin with a flurry of inside jabs Saturday. Alec Ingold delivered the scoring punches.

    It was a devastating combination.

Taylor ran for 183 yards and one score and Ingold scored three touchdowns on five touches to lead the Badgers to a 45-17 victory at Indiana, keeping them in the shrinking group of unbeaten teams.

No. 11 Ohio State rebounds, routs No. 13 Michigan St 48-3

No. 11 Ohio State put to rest any notion that it wouldn't be motivated to finish strong after a surprising loss last week dropped the Buckeyes out of national championship contention.

The Buckeyes came out fast, scoring on five of their first six possessions on the way to a 48-3 rout of No. 13 Michigan State, a team that has given them headaches in recent years.

Defense carries No. 6 Wisconsin past No. 25 Iowa 38-14

Undefeated Wisconsin's defense keeps getting better as the stakes get higher with every victory.

Imagine how good the Badgers could be if they stopped turning the ball over so much.

Kendric Pryor scored twice, and No. 6 Wisconsin relied on its stifling D to overcome four turnovers and Iowa cornerback Josh Jackson's two touchdowns in a 38-14 win Saturday over the Hawkeyes.

McSorley sets all-time Penn State TD mark in win vs. Rutgers

Coach James Franklin saw Saturday's game against Rutgers as an opportunity to bounce back from a tough, two-loss stretch that all but ended Penn State's chance to play for a national championship.

It took a little longer than Franklin would have liked for the No. 16 Nittany Lions to rediscover the tools they used to dominate opponents in the first half of the season.

Trace McSorley accounted for 258 total yards and three touchdowns and Penn State overcame an early deficit with 35 unanswered points to beat the Scarlet Knights 35-6.

Thorson's 2 touchdowns lead Northwestern over Purdue 23-13

Although his team's mantra is to focus on one week at a time, Clayton Thorson couldn't help revisiting the previous five weeks on Saturday night.

Thorson had a pair of touchdowns, Charlie Kuhbander hit all three of his second-half field goal attempts and Northwestern won its fifth straight with a 23-13 victory over Purdue.

Alex Hornibrook's 24-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Taylor in third quarter broke open a defensive sl ugfest, Kendric Pryorscored on an end-around and No. 5 Wisconsin beat No. 19 Michigan 24-10 on Saturday to remain undefeated .

Saquon Barkley sets Penn State TD record in win over Nebraska

Still a junior, Penn State's Saquon Barkleywasn't included Saturday in the Senior Day festivities even though it might've been his final game in Happy Valley, too.

If Penn State's 56-44 victory over Nebraska was indeed it for Barkley -- who'll be coveted by the NFL should he decide to forgo his senior season -- the Heisman Trophy candidate put on a memorable performance.

No. 8 Ohio State routs Illinois, looks ahead to Michigan

No. 8 Ohio State can look ahead to Michigan and trying to find the narrow path back into the playoff hunt.

Coach Urban Meyer this week had refused to talk about the future beyond Saturday's game against Illinois, which ended in a 52-14 blowout by the Buckeyes in sheets of driving rain at Ohio Stadium.

No. 22 Michigan State beats Maryland 17-7 in the snow

Mark Dantonio sounded ready for a relaxing night by the fireplace after Michigan State's snowy victory over Maryland.

"We should've brought some hot chocolate in here," the Spartans' coach said to start his postgame news conference.

Dantonio's team has played some of its best football this year in unusual weather conditions, and on Saturday night, No. 22 Michigan State held off Maryland 17-7. LJ Scott ran for 147 yards and a touchdown on a day the Spartans completed only two passes and still won.

Hornibrook, Badgers stay unbeaten with 31-0 win at Minnesota

That weaker schedule that has kept Wisconsin on the fringe of the College Football Playoff picture has become a moot point.

Win one more game, and the Badgers will be a sure bet for the final four. They're still unbeaten, confidently striving for more.

Alex Hornibrook threw three touchdown passes without an interception for fifth-ranked Wisconsin, and the Badgers overwhelmed rival Minnesota 31-0 on Saturday for their 14th straight victory over the Gophers.

Haskins helps No. 8 Ohio State rally to beat Michigan 31-20

Dwayne Haskins did what Ohio State quarterbacks have been doing for more than a decade. He beat Michigan.

The latest victory, though, came with a bizarre twist.

Haskins replaced injured star J.T. Barrett and led the eighth-ranked Buckeyes from behind to beat the Wolverines 31-20 Saturday for their sixth straight win in a rivalry they've dominated no matter who's under center.

McSorley leads No. 12 Penn State to 66-3 rout of Maryland

Penn State finished its regular season with a third straight blowout and the satisfying feeling that comes with playing exceptionally well before bowl bids are announced.

"We're trending in the right direction right now," coach James Franklin said after the 12th-ranked Nittany Lions breezed past Maryland 66-3 on Saturday.

No. 21 Michigan State flips 2016 record, goes 9-3

No. 21 Michigan State capped a terrific turnaround season with a dominant performance that probably would have been record-setting if the NCAA kept one for time of possession in a game.

Brian Lewerke threw for a touchdown and ran for another and the Spartans held the ball for more than 47 minutes in defeating Rutgers 40-7 on Saturday to probably write a ticket to one of college football better bowl games.
