No. 21 Michigan bounces back with 49-3 win over W Michigan

Shea Patterson used to hear his father tell him bedtime stories as a kid and the tales always included him playing quarterback at Michigan Stadium.

    He just lived the dream.

Patterson threw three touchdown passes, one in each of the first three quarters, in his Big House debut to help No. 21 Michigan bounce back with a 49-3 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.

No. 13 Penn State drills Pittsburgh 51-6

The future of the rivalry between No. 13 Penn State and Pittsburgh is uncertain.

There is no question about the present. The Nittany Lions have separated themselves from the Panthers. And the gap appears to be widening. Quickly.

Trace McSorley threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to erase the memories of a painful 2016 loss and Penn State overwhelmed Pitt 51-6 on Saturday night.

Sanders, McSorley lead No. 10 Penn State over Illinois 63-24

Miles Sanders burst through the hole, bounced off a defender trying to grab his ankles and sped up the right side for the go-ahead touchdown.

That's when No. 10 Penn State started to hit its stride, too.
Sanders set career highs by rushing for 200 yards and three touchdowns, Trace McSorley threw for three TDs and ran for a personal-best 92 yards, and the Nittany Lions scored 35 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 63-24 victory over Illinois on Friday night.

Moore, Purdue hand No. 23 Boston College 1st loss, 30-13

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm wants losing to hurt his players so much it makes them angry.

After three straight close losses to start the season, the Boilermakers let off some steam on No. 23 Boston College.

Rondale Moore caught two touchdown passes and Purdue had four interceptions, beating the Eagles 30-13 on Saturday.

Maryland blasts previously unbeaten Minnesota 42-13

During a season unlike any other, the Maryland football team has showed its mettle by responding positively to a variety of challenges.

Playing for a fallen teammate under an interim coach, the Terrapins came out Saturday looking for a bounce-back victory and got it, walloping previously unbeaten Minnesota 42-13.

No. 4 Ohio State routs Tulane in Meyer's return to sideline

Ohio State gift-wrapped a blowout for Urban Meyer in his return to the sideline, making sure the coach didn't have to get too stressed or too mad at anybody and didn't have to make any monumental decisions.

The No. 4 Buckeyes played like, well, like they played while Meyer was watching the first three games on TV while serving a suspension. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins continued to throw touchdown passes at a furious rate, and Ohio State routed outmanned Tulane 49-6 on Saturday.

No. 18 Wisconsin rallies past Iowa 28-17

With their season on the line in late September, Wisconsin showed that the Big Ten West will likely run through Madison yet again.

Alex Hornibrook threw a 17-yard TD pass to A.J. Taylor with 57 seconds left and No. 18 Wisconsin bounced back from last week's loss by rallying past Iowa 28-17 on Saturday night.

No. 21 Michigan State handles Central Michigan 31-20

Michigan State played well for about 30 minutes, and that was more than enough.

The final score was closer than it could have been, though.

"It's just disappointing for me. It's something that we are very aware," quarterback Brian Lewerke said. "Offensively, we just kind of got stopped a little bit, little bit of the third and fourth quarter. Probably should have put up more points."

Lewerke ran for two touchdowns in the first half, and the 21st-ranked Spartans overcame a slow start and an underwhelming finish to beat Central Michigan 31-20 on Saturday. Michigan State led 31-3 before letting CMU rally a bit in the fourth quarter.
