Coach Urban Meyer said Miller got in a little work at Wednesday's practice but then had another session of rehab for his injured left knee. "We'll know more tomorrow," Meyer said. "He's going on the trip and tomorrow's going to be the day we'll find out how much he'll play." Read more http://espn.go.com/college-football...-miller-ohio-state-buckeyes-remains-uncertain
Kenny Guiton starts for hurt Braxton Miller, throws 4 TDs for Ohio St. Kenny Guiton waited until his fifth year at Ohio State to get his first start. Two plays into the game, he was already in the Buckeyes' record book. Guiton threw three of his four touchdown passes in the first six minutes, including a school-record 90-yarder to start the onslaught, and No. 4 Ohio State rolled to its 15th straight victory, 52-34 over California on Saturday night.
No. 11 Michigan survives scare, denies Akron's last-second upset bid College football's winningest program might have just had its worst win. Starting role awaits Braxton Miller Braxton Miller's spot in the starting lineup is safe, and the Ohio State quarterback could be ready to reclaim it after a one-week absence. A sprained left knee forced the junior to miss Saturday's win on the road against California, but coach Urban Meyer upgraded his status to probable for this week's final nonconference tuneup against Florida A&M.
Kenny Guiton sets Ohio State touchdown record in 76-0 laugher After a 76-0 victory against outmanned and overmatched Florida A&M, Urban Meyer couldn't say for certain that his Ohio State team got a lot out of its meek nonconference schedule. "Obviously, at midnight next week, we'll know," the coach of No. 4 Ohio State said, referring to its Big Ten opener on Saturday against No. 24 Wisconsin. "Are we prepared? I like to think we are." There's no doubt that Kenny Guiton is.
No. 15 Michigan uses late rally to dodge upset bid by UConn Michigan was making a mess of another game against a heavy underdog, when Desmond Morgan snatched away Connecticut's chance for a huge upset. Morgan's one-handed interception in the fourth quarter swung the game Michigan's way, and the 15th-ranked Wolverines dodged another potentially embarrassing loss with a 24-21 victory against UConn on Saturday night.
Two defensive TDs lead No. 18 Northwestern over Maine With Ohio State looming on the schedule, Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald had hoped Saturday's game against Maine would serve as sort of a tune-up for his high-powered offense to start running smoothly. Instead, the offensive inconsistencies lingered and only a pair of defensive scores -- interception returns for touchdowns by linebacker Damien Proby and Dean Lowry -- prevented a possible upset in as the 18th-ranked Wildcats held on for a 35-21 victory.
Melvin Gordon, No. 24 Wisconsin run past Purdue in Big Ten opener Melvin Gordon darted for the end zone, carrying the lunging Purdue defender with him over the goal line. Urban Meyer: 'I don't know' starter Urban Meyer is holding off on an official decision on his starting quarterback, and right now the Ohio State coach has bracketed his top options together on his latest depth chart. After missing his past two starts and almost all of the previous game with a sprained knee, Braxton Miller is slated to return to the lineup on Saturday against No. 23 Wisconsin in a critical Big Ten opener at Ohio Stadium. The fifth-place finisher in last year's race for the Heisman Trophy is also expected to slide back into the starting lineup, though Meyer is still evaluating how he practices this week and is comfortable enough with his backup that he currently lists his starter as Miller "or" Kenny Guiton. "Those decisions will be made later in the week," Meyer said during the Big Ten teleconference on Tuesday. "I think if [Miller] has a great week of practice, he will [start]. I don't want to name him a starter yet, because I don't know. "I want to make sure I'm doing right by Kenny Guiton, so it's more complicated than that." read more http://espn.go.com/college-football...s-qbs-braxton-miller-kenny-guiton-co-starters
Delany: Let players bypass college Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said Wednesday that Division I football and basketball might be better served by following Major League Baseball's model, in that players are allowed to sign professionally right out of high school. "Maybe in football and basketball, it would work better if more kids had a chance to go directly into the professional ranks," Delany said. "If they're not comfortable and want to monetize, let the minor leagues flourish. Train at IMG, get agents to invest in your body, get agents to invest in your likeness and establish it on your own. But don't come here and say, 'We want to be paid $25,000 or $50,000.' Go to the D-League and get it, go to the NBA and get it, go to the NFL and get it. Don't ask us what we've been doing. "If an athlete wants to professionalize themselves, professionalize themselves. We've been training kids for professional sports. I argue it's the color, I argue it's the institution. If you think it's about you, then talk to John Havlicek about that, you've got to talk to Michael Jordan about that. These brands have been built over 100 years." Meyer: Miller 'will probably start' The Ohio State depth chart still has the top two options at quarterback bracketed together, but it appears Urban Meyer already has a pretty good idea who will be his starter. After sitting out the past two weeks and missing almost all of the previous game with a sprained knee, Braxton Miller is slated to return to the lineup Saturday against No. 23 Wisconsin in a critical Big Ten opener at Ohio Stadium. And the fifth-place finisher in last season's race for the Heisman Trophy is apparently poised to slide back into the starting lineup despite Meyer having enough comfort with his backup that he currently lists his starter as Miller "or" Kenny Guiton.

Brady Hoke may shuffle O-line The Michigan offense and its quarterback haven't been in a good place its past two times out on the field. On Wednesday, the usually confident Devin Gardner admitted that he allowed some of the defensive pressure to get to him and, by extension, the entire Michigan offense. "Maybe getting down on myself, as far as that goes, that kind of deters your focus a little bit," Gardner said. "When you beat yourself up about bad decisions." Those bad decisions were a result of him getting away from his fundamentals, but during the Wolverines' bye week, Gardner returned to the basics to try and get back into his rhythm -- one that looked good when Michigan ran over Central Michigan in the season opener and put away Notre Dame the following week. "He has been really conscientious," Hoke said. "Stepping through throws, getting his hips turned, all those things that you do as a quarterback, the timing of the drops compared with the routes, all those things, I think he has really done a nice job through all last week and yesterday."
