Moody's late FG lifts No. 9 Michigan past Nebraska 32-29

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh called the ninth-ranked Wolverines' come-from-behind victory over Nebraska a "Clint Eastwood win."

Jake Moody hit a 39-yard field goal with 1:24 remaining to lift Michigan to a 32-29 win over upset-minded Nebraska on Saturday night.

Stroud throws 5 TDs, No. 7 Buckeyes bury Maryland 66-17

C.J. Stroud, who didn't throw a pass in a college football game until five weeks ago, says he's getting better at relaxing amid the chaos.

With his sore shoulder feeling better and some early wobbles behind him, Stroud is beginning to look less like an inexperienced freshman and more like Justin Fields, his unflappable predecessor at quarterback who led Ohio State to the College Football Playoff in both years as a starter.

"I'm just being more comfortable," Stroud said after throwing five touchdowns in the No. 7 Buckeyes' 66-17 pounding of Maryland on Saturday. "I mean, being myself. I'm really just relaxing back there, andI think my teammates have really helped me. AndI feel like we're starting to roll, get momentum."

No. 3 Iowa beats No. 4 Penn State 23-20, fans storm field

Iowa was in victory formation and the emotion was about to spill over as dusk settled over Kinnick Stadium.

Spencer Petras took the last snap, took a knee and took off, apparently thinking he could get off the field before the students and other fans pouring out of the end zone seats could catch him.

He barely made it to midfield. That's where he and his teammates were swarmed and the mosh pit formed on the Hawkeyes logo to celebrate No. 3 Iowa's hard-earned 23-20 victory over fourth-ranked Penn State on Saturday.

No. 5 Ohio St extends streak with 54-7 blowout at Indiana

C.J. Stroud and TreVeyon Henderson provided Ohio State’s offense with a refreshingly familiar look Saturday.

Even a persistently rainy night couldn't derail the Buckeyes' two big stars.

Stroud threw four touchdown passes, Henderson scored three times and No. 5 Ohio State routed Indiana 54-7 after its bye week, extending the Football Bowl Subdivision's longest active winning streak against one team to 27 in a row.

    Illinois stuns No. 7 Penn State 20-18 in NCAA's 1st 9OT game

Over the course of an unprecedented nine overtimes, Illinois survived Penn State's botched attempt at a trick play, lost its quarterback and a powerful running back to injury, and failed to gain just three measly yards again and again.

When Casey Washington finally came down with the winning catch Saturday, he hardly knew what to do.

“I actually cried,” he said. “It just felt good.”

The Illini came out victorious in the NCAA's first ever nine-overtime game, edging the seventh-ranked Nittany Lions 20-18 on Washington's 2-point conversion catch from Brandon Peters to end a string of goal-line stalemates under college football's recently rewritten overtime rules.

Mellusi, Allen help Wisconsin run past No. 25 Purdue, 30-13

Wisconsin freshman running back Braelon Allen figures the Badgers got back to their their strengths.

Graham Mertz completed just 5 of 8 passes for 52 yards. But it didn't matter with the Badgers running for 290 yards on 51 carries.

"That's Wisconsin football, that's what we're known for, imposing our will on defenses," Allen said. "We are finally getting back to our brand of football. It's worked for the longest time."

Chez Mellusi ran for 149 yards and a touchdown and Allen had 140 yards and two scores to help Wisconsin beat No. 25 Purdue 30-13 on Saturday.

Henderson, No. 5 Ohio State hold off No. 20 Penn State 33-24

Facing adversity for the first time in more than a month, Ohio State showed off the mettle the Buckeyes believe they'll need to get through the rest of a rugged Big Ten schedule.

TreVeyon Henderson ran for 152 yards on a season-high 28 carries and No. 5 Ohio State made just enough long plays and short field goals to hold off No. 20 Penn State 33-24 on Saturday night.

Defense carries Wisconsin to 27-7 triumph over No. 9 Iowa

Wisconsin safety Collin Wilder was planning his Halloween costume this week when he bought a red and white hat for $7 at a mall and wrote a message on it with a Sharpie.

Just like that, he came up with the object that best symbolizes how the Badgers have turned their season around.

Wisconsin forced three turnovers and produced six sacks in a 27-7 victory over No. 9 Iowa on Saturday that enabled the Badgers to maintain control of their destiny in the Big Ten West Division race. Each time a Wisconsin player made a big play on defense, he wore Wilder's hat with the homemade slogan, "The Grit Factory."

No. 6 Buckeyes hang on to win 26-17 over struggling Huskers

A nine-point win over the last-place team in the Big Ten West might not satisfy Ohio State's fan base.

Buckeyes coach Ryan Day was just fine with it.

C.J. Stroud threw for 405 yards and two touchdowns, Ohio State's defense came up with a pair of stops after Nebraska had pulled within six points, and the sixth-ranked Buckeyes got out of Memorial Stadium with a 26-17 win on Saturday.

O'Connell, Bell help Purdue take down No. 5 Spartans 40-29

Purdue coach Jeff Brohm already had a reputation for running trick plays — and for leading his unranked team to upsets of top-5 opponents.

His Boilermakers added to that legacy on Saturday.

Aidan O'Connell matched his career high by throwing three touchdown passes — including one on a reverse, flea-flicker screen pass to Jackson Anthrop — and Purdue toppled a Big Ten giant for the second time this season, beating No. 5 Michigan State 40-29 and leaving the conference without an unbeaten team.

No. 19 Iowa changes quarterbacks, beats Northwestern 17-12

Alex Padilla could feel the jitters when he got the call to go into the game. Once he stepped on the field, he sure looked comfortable, though.

Padilla took over for the banged-up Spencer Petras and led three scoring drives, Tyler Goodson ran for 141 yards and a touchdown and No. 19 Iowa beat Northwestern 17-12 on Saturday night to stop a two-game losing streak.

Wisconsin wins fifth straight, beats Rutgers, bowl eligible

Not only has Wisconsin put its horrid 1/3 start behind it, everything is suddenly within reach for the Badgers.

Graham Mertz threw a season-high three touchdown passes and Wisconsin won its fifth straight game and become bowl eligible for the 20th straight year with a 52-3 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.

McNamara, No. 9 Michigan rally past No. 23 Penn State 21-17

Michigan tight end Erick All woke up on Saturday with a sore ankle, a leftover reminder of the Wolverines' last painful loss.

Inside a packed, hostile Beaver Stadium, he was able to block out the discomfort enough to help No. 9 Michigan stay in the Big Ten championship chase with a 21-17 win over No. 23 Penn State.

Stroud throws 5 TD passes, No. 6 Ohio State routs Purdue

After two weeks of some uneven offensive play, the No. 6 Buckeyes were understandably anxious this week with giant-killer Purdue coming to town.

Ohio State had reason to be wary of the Boilermakers, who had already upset two top-five teams this season. The last time the two teams met, Purdue halted the Buckeyes' 2018 march to the playoffs with a stunning upset in West Lafayette.

    No worries this time.

Freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud was dialed in, throwing for 361 yards and five touchdowns as the Buckeyes struck early and rolled over Purdue 59-31 on Saturday.

Stroud tosses 6 TDs, No. 5 Ohio St blows out No. 7 Mich St

C.J. Stroud lit up No. 7 Michigan State early and gave his coach the rare luxury of being able to let his mind wander to next week's showdown with Michigan.

Stroud tied a school record with six touchdown passes -- all in the first half -- as No. 5 Ohio State bolted out to a 49-point halftime lead on the way to a startling 56-7 rout Saturday that eliminated the Spartans (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten, No. 7 CFP) from the Big Ten East race.
