Maryland football blown out by No. 6 Michigan, 59-18, pushing bowl game hopes to final week of season

Maryland football’s final home game of the season followed a familiar pattern.

The Terps continued to make life harder on themselves, committing costly penalties and executing poorly in the red zone in a 59-18 loss to No. 6 Michigan at Capital One Field.

Braelon Allen continued a tradition of Wisconsin running backs steamrolling Nebraska defenses.

Allen rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns – including a tiebreaking 53-yarder with 3:50 remaining – to help No. 19 Wisconsin outlast Nebraska 35-28 for its seventh consecutive victory Saturday.

Michigan beats Ohio State 42-27, ends 8-game skid in rivalry

Jim Harbaugh got the win he wanted perhaps as desperately as any coach in sports.

Hassan Haskins matched a school record with five rushing touchdowns and Aidan Hutchinson had three sacks to break a single-season program mark, helping No. 6 Michigan finally beat No. 2 Ohio State 42-27 Saturday to give Harbaugh his first win as a coach against the Buckeyes.

Minnesota chops down No. 18 Wisconsin 23-13 to take back Axe

Minnesota's fans gleefully converged on the field as Paul Bunyan's Axe was slowly paraded through the crowd, eager for a peek at this long-sought trophy that has gone so often to Wisconsin.

The Gophers' defense swarmed the field like that all afternoon.

Tanner Morgan overcame an interception that was returned for a first-half touchdown, leading three scoring drives after halftime to take down the 18th-ranked Badgers in a 23-13 victory that regained the Axe and gave Iowa the Big Ten West Division title Saturday.

No. 2 Michigan takes Big Ten in rout, makes playoff pitch

Michigan ignored the preseason predictions, the early poll snub and especially the critics who thought the program's best days were long gone.

Instead they set out to prove everybody wrong. On Saturday, they did.

Hassan Haskins ran for two scores and broke a longtime school record leading No. 2 Michigan past Iowa 42-3 while clinching their first Big Ten title in 17 years and likely the first playoff berth in school history.

Allen, Wisconsin hold off Arizona State in Las Vegas Bowl

Braelon Allen thought his week in Las Vegas was rather uneventful.

After all, it's hard to really soak in Sin City when you're only 17 years old. He'll have to settle for his MVP award.

Allen ran for 159 yards and Wisconsin drained the final 9:57 off the clock with an 18-play drive that sealed a 20-13 victory over Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Thursday night.

Purdue outlasts Tennessee 48-45 in OT in Music City Bowl

Purdue came into the Music City Bowl short-handed and banged-up, particularly at wide receiver.

The Boilermakers are going home winners after a game that had people clicking over to catch an amazing finish.

Mitchell Finerankicked a 39-yard field goal in overtime and Purdue finished off its best season since 2003 by overcoming a 14-point deficit and beating Tennessee 48-45 on Thursday in a record-setting Music City Bowl.

No. 7 Ohio State beats No. 10 Utah 48-45 in wild Rose Bowl

C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba put on a passing performance that obliterated a multitude of records during one of the biggest offensive days in Ohio State's storied history.

The Buckeyes still barely did enough to hold off resilient Utah and its backup quarterback in one spectacular Rose Bowl.

Stroud capped his record-setting offensive day by leading a 56-yard drive ending in Noah Ruggles' 19-yard field goal with nine seconds to play, and No. 7 Ohio State beat No. 10 Utah 48-45 on Saturday night in the wild 108th edition of the Rose Bowl.

Northwestern rallies past Nebraska 31-28 in opener in Dublin

Scott Frost isn't calling plays on offense this season.

However, the embattled Nebraska coach still made the biggest decision in Saturday's 31-28 loss to Northwestern in Ireland.

Clifford's masterful final drive sends Penn St. past Purdue

Sean Clifford avenged his biggest mistake Thursday night with one masterful, final drive.

It may have saved Penn State's conference title hopes.

The sixth-year quarterback hooked up with Keyvone Lee on a 10-yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds left, rallying the Nittany Lions to a 35-31 victory in their season opener at Purdue.

No. 2 Ohio State wears down No. 5 Notre Dame 21-10

With its vaunted offense bogged down, No. 2 Ohio State leaned on its revamped defense in a top-five opener against a former Buckeye that tested its toughness.

C.J. Stroud threw two touchdown passes and Ohio State shut out No. 5 Notre Dame over the final 42 minutes in a gritty 21-10 victory on Saturday night.

No. 15 Michigan State sputters in 35-13 win over W. Michigan

Payton Thorne played well in spurts, allowing No. 15 Michigan State to earn a lopsided win over Western Michigan despite struggling for long stretches of the opener on both sides of the ball.

Thorne capped three straight drives with touchdown passes in the first half and threw for a fourth score in the final quarter to help the Spartans pull away and beat the Broncos 35-13 on Friday night.

Richardson shines, Burney seals Florida's win vs No. 7 Utah

Standing in the tunnel and waiting to run into the raucous Swamp for the first time, Florida coach Billy Napier turned to an assistant and summed up the moment.

"Can you believe they pay us to do this?" he said.

It seemed like money well spent after the Gators delivered their biggest season-opening victory in more than 50 years.

Anthony Richardson ran for three scores in his second career start, including a 2-yard scamper with 1:25 remaining, and Florida upset seventh-ranked Utah 29-26 on Saturday night to get the Napier era off to a rousing start.

McNamara unhappy after No. 8 Michigan beats Colorado St 51-7

Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara had his first opportunity to share thoughts publicly on sharing starting quarterback duties with J.J. McCarthy early this season.

The Big Ten championship winning quarterback and team captain didn't hold back, making it clear he was surprised coach Jim Harbaugh chose to split who takes the first snap over the first two weeks.

McNamara had a lackluster performance that was made moot by a dominant defense as the eighth-ranked Wolverines routed Colorado State 51-7 Saturday.
