Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford was fine with getting close-to-normal scoring production from stars Phil Forte III and Le'Bryan Nash.

What everyone else did helped the Cowboys beat No. 20 Baylor 64-53 on Tuesday night. Oklahoma State's suffocating defense held the Bears to 34.5 percent shooting.

Frank Mason III had a couple of key baskets in the second-half run that put No. 9 Kansas ahead to stay.

There were also his two missed throws that gave TCU one last desperate shot to extend the game.

"We're always happy with a win but it was an ugly win in our eyes," Mason said after their 64-61 victory Wednesday night. "We definitely could get better. We did a lot of things wrong."

If Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger ever needs to emphasize the importance of playing great defense, he'll have a 40-minute how-to video in the archives.

The Sooners allowed the fewest points ever by a Big 12 team in a conference game, and No. 24 Oklahoma defeated Texas Tech 81-36 on Wednesday night. The Sooners eclipsed the league record of 37 points set by Texas against Oklahoma in 2004 and matched by Oklahoma against Texas A&M in 2008.

Getting off to a sensational start is only half the battle. Bill Self hopes No. 9 Kansas learned that lesson while beating Kansas State 68-57 on Saturday and holding the Wildcats to one of their most miserable halfs ever.

One game after Texas Tech set a Big 12 record for fewest points scored, West Virginia's full-court press gave the Red Raiders fits.

Devin Williams scored 18 points and No. 17 West Virginia forced 26 turnovers in a 77-58 win over Texas Tech on Saturday.

Iowa State finally had a chance to breath nice and easy at the end of a game.

After a series of white-knuckle finishes in Big 12 play, the 15th-ranked Cyclones rolled past TCU 83-66 Saturday behind Georges Niang's 23 points and 63 percent shooting in the second half.

Oklahoma pushed the pace in the second half and overwhelmed Oklahoma State.

Jordan Woodard scored a season-high 17 points and had a career-high five steals to help the 24th-ranked Sooners beat the Cowboys 64-56 on Saturday night. Oklahoma overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to sweep the regular-season series.

Scott Drew had a simple answer for why his Baylor Bears were able to rout Texas. They shared the basketball.

The 20th-ranked Bears beat No. 19 Texas 83-60 on Saturday night.

Now that Missouri has bid farewell and joined the Southeastern Conference, a new archrival is emerging for Kansas. Its name is Iowa State.

The 223rd consecutive sellout in historic Allen Fieldhouse was definitely louder for the Cyclones on Monday night than it was two days earlier when Kansas State came calling.

When the No. 8 Jayhawks got hot in the second half and raced to an 89-76 victory over the 11th-ranked Cyclones team that handed them a road loss the month before, the windows seemed to rattle in this 60-year-old arena.

As West Virginia coach Bob Huggins was asked how his team's vaunted press performed against Oklahoma, he muttered, "What press?" into the microphone before the question was completed.

The 21st-ranked Sooners handled it well and defeated No. 15 West Virginia 71-52 on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma committed 22 turnovers in the first meeting, an 86-65 win for the Mountaineers on Jan. 13. This time, the Sooners committed just 13 and often scored after breaking down West Virginia's defense.

Kenny Chery and No. 19 Baylor were much better at home against TCU.

Forgot about that sub-30 percent shooting by the Bears in the first matchup a month ago. Chery put Baylor ahead to stay with a 3-pointer and 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the game and was one of the five players in scoring in double figures for the Bears in a 77-57 victory over the Horned Frogs on Wednesday night.

Phil Forte stepped to the free throw line, practiced his stroke a couple of times, then settled in to the calm feeling that he'd "been here, done that" on this very court.

And standing in the same place where he won a Texas state high school championship a few years ago, the Oklahoma State guard calmly swished two free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime, sending the Cowboys to a 65-63 victory over No. 25 Texas on Wednesday night.

The best offensive team in the Big 12 got defensive and put together its most lopsided conference victory of the season.

Jameel McKay scored 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting in his first start and keyed a sterling effort on the defensive end that carried No. 11 Iowa State to a 75-38 rout of Texas Tech on Saturday.

Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield had an open path to the basket for an easy tying layup when he instead stopped and gave the ball to Ryan Spangler.

Spangler, whose blocked shot set up the breakaway, had an emphatic two-handed slam dunk as part of 10-0 run to end the first half that put the No. 21 Sooners ahead to stay in their fourth consecutive Big 12 victory, 68-56 win at TCU on Saturday.

exas' four-game losing streak was as baffling to Isaiah Taylor as it was for anybody on the Longhorns' bench.

On Saturday, Taylor and his team took an approach that had been missing for nearly three weeks.

"We played desperate," Taylor said. "Today we didn't get down on ourselves. Everyone played with an attitude and it's sort of like (a sense) of cockiness that we needed to win and that's what happened."

Taylor scored 23 points, including two foul shots with one second left that sent No. 25 Texas over Kansas State 61-57 Saturday.

Another strong effort from its bench helped stop No. 21 West Virginia's tailspin in February.

Reserve Brandon Watkins scored a career-high 14 points and West Virginia surrendered a double-digit lead before recovering for a 76-72 win over Kansas State on Wednesday night.

Leg cramps weren't going to keep Juwan Staten from getting West Virginia to 20 wins for the first time in four seasons on Monday night.

Staten scored 20 points, including a layup with four seconds left, then draped Perry Ellis on the other end after a long pass before the Jayhawks forward missed a layup off the back of the rim at the buzzer as No. 23 West Virginia beat No. 8 Kansas 62-61.
