With Roosevelt Jones holding the ball above the top of the key and time running down, there was only one thing for Butler to do.

"The play is called, 'Get it to Rose and get out of the way,' " Bulldogs coach Chris Holtmann said.

Jones ran it to perfection, driving through the middle and banking in the winning layup with 1.9 seconds to lift No. 19 Butler to a 58-56 win over Creighton on Monday night.

Heading toward the best record in program history, Villanova coach Jay Wright sees room for improvement.

Darrun Hilliard II scored 18 points, Daniel Ochefu had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 6 Villanova cruised to an 80-54 victory over Seton Hall on Monday night.

Bill Self never has to worry about Perry Ellis speaking out of turn.

Even now, midway through his junior season, the Kansas forward rarely strings together more than a few words at a time. He talks in short, clipped sentences. He deflects attention, even when he has just joined the 1,000-point club at a school drenched in basketball tradition.

So after pouring in 18 points to reach the scoring milestone Saturday, and helping the eighth-ranked Jayhawks to a 74-64 victory over No. 16 Baylor, it was no surprise that Ellis didn't have a whole lot to offer eager reporters or in front of television cameras.

Scuffling to find options on offense, Kansas State was in desperation mode as it tried to avoid a sixth consecutive loss.

Fresh off a three-game suspension, Marcus Foster provided just the boost the Wildcats needed.

Foster made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 3.4 seconds left and scored 14 points to lead Kansas State past No. 17 Oklahoma 59-56 on Saturday night.

Iowa State was playing some of its best defense of the season. Its offense, on the other hand, was uncharacteristically stagnant.

Once the shots started falling, the 14th-ranked Cyclones simply blew past No. 21 West Virginia 79-59 on Saturday. Monte Morris scored 19 points and Iowa State (18-6, 8-4 Big 12) overwhelmed the Mountaineers to sweep the season series.

TCU had been close so many times in the closing 5 minutes of Big 12 games.

This time, the Horned Frogs didn't falter down the stretch.

Amric Fields had 12 points and a big part in an upset-sealing run as last-place TCU beat No. 21 Oklahoma State 70-55 on Saturday after the Cowboys had won three consecutive Big 12 games against ranked teams.

The return of Treveon Graham from a two-game absence gave VCU the boost it needed.

Melvin Johnson scored 17 points, hitting five 3-pointers, and No. 20 Virginia Commonwealth snapped a two-game losing streak with a 79-66 victory at George Washington on Saturday.

Devin Williams didn't back down after taking a shot to the nose and a forearm to the chin on separate occasions in the first half against Texas.

Williams finished with 14 points and was a big reason No. 20 West Virginia's inside game showed up this time against Texas in the Mountaineers' 71-64 win over the Longhorns on Tuesday night.

Baylor was down eight and seemingly destined for its 13th straight loss at Iowa State.

Then the Bears started making shots -- seven straight 3s, to be precise -- for a stunning late run that sunk the Cyclones.

Taurean Prince scored 20 points and 19th-ranked Baylor upset No. 12 Iowa State on the road 79-70 for its third straight win on Wednesday night.

Wesley Iwundu knew how little room for error Kansas State left itself. Within a blink of an eye, he gave the Wildcats' once meager postseason hopes new life.

An errant pass from Georges Niang ended up in the hands of Iwundu and a two-handed dunk helped paint a better picture to an up-and-down season at Kansas State (15-15, 8-9 Big 12).

Iwundu capped a 22-9 scoring run with the dunk, giving the Wildcats a 70-69 win over No. 12 Iowa State on Saturday and back-to-back Top 25 wins.

Buddy Hield broke out of his slump to help Oklahoma remain a strong contender for the Big 12 title.

Hield had 21 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, and the 16th-ranked Sooners rallied to beat TCU 67-60 on Saturday. The Big 12's leading scorer had made just 7 of 29 field goals the previous two games. He went 6 for 11 against the Horned Frogs, including making three 3-pointers.

Taurean Prince has turned into quite a scorer, Rico Gathers keeps pounding opponents and No. 19 Baylor is going into March on a nice roll.

Prince scored 20 points for his 13th consecutive double-figure scoring game, Gathers had another double-double and the Bears won their fourth consecutive game, leading throughout in a 78-66 victory Saturday over injury-plagued No. 20 West Virginia.

Isaiah Taylor didn't play a lot for Texas on Monday night. He was on the court when it mattered most.

The sophomore guard made a tear-drop shot in the lane with 4.8 seconds remaining in overtime to give Texas a 61-59 victory over No. 14 Baylor, snapping the Bears' four-game winning streak and the Longhorns' four-game losing streak.

Oklahoma was up by 20 when Isaiah Cousins hollered at the Iowa State bench.

Cousins got a technical foul, and the Cyclones got all the motivation they needed to spark one of the best comebacks in school history.

Georges Niang had 20 of his 23 points in the second half, and No. 17 Iowa State rallied from a 21-point deficit to stun No. 15 Oklahoma 77-70 and snap a two-game losing streak on Monday.

Bill Self has won 190 of the 199 games he has coached in Allen Fieldhouse. This might have been the most satisfying -- and improbable -- of them all.

The ninth-ranked Jayhawks were down 18 points to No. 20 West Virginia, a team that had beaten them on the road two weeks earlier. The Jayhawks would be outrebounded 46-34. Two of their best players were out of the game. From behind the 3-point arc, they would go 0-for-15.

    Somehow, they won.

Frank Mason III scored the final six points of overtime, and the Jayhawks clinched their 11th straight Big 12 regular-season championship with a 76-69 victory Tuesday night. They missed matching the biggest comeback in the 60-year history of Allen Fieldhouse by just one point.

Kenny Chery was serenaded with a senior night twist with the playing of the Canadian national anthem before his final home game for No. 14 Baylor.

The point guard from Montreal then came out hot from 3-point range to help offset a career night from Texas Tech's Devaugntah Williams, and fellow senior Royce O'Neale finished a stirring rally against the last-place Red Raiders.

    Taurean Prince
scored a career-high 24 points, Chery and Rico Gathers scored 18 apiece and the first of consecutive 3-pointers by O'Neale gave the Bears their first lead in the final 3 minutes after trailing by 12 in the second half of a 77-74 win over Texas Tech on Friday night.

The kid on the court for his defense made the shot of the year for West Virginia.

Tarik Phillip hit a 3-pointer with 28 seconds left while the shot clock was winding down, adding the clinching points as the fifth-seeded Mountaineers held off No. 12 Buffalo 68-62 on Friday in their NCAA tournament opener.

The last few weeks have been an exercise in patience for Kansas. Shots haven't been falling, the offense hasn't looked good. The game has been a struggle.

All of that changed against New Mexico State.

Frank Mason III scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack, and the second-seeded Jayhawks rolled to a 75-56 victory over the No. 15 seed Aggies on Friday, giving their beleaguered Big 12 its first NCAA Tournament victory in four tries this March.

The closest TaShawn Thomas had ever come to experiencing the NCAA Tournament was watching it on TV

.He made the most of finally getting his moment on the big stage.

Thomas powered his way to 18 points inside and versatile Buddy Hield added 15 to lead third-seeded Oklahoma past Albany 69-60 on Friday night, carrying the Sooners into the Round of 32 after early exits the last two years.
