Facing a deficit and a fired-up Dayton team, fueled by its fans who packed the house again, Oklahoma went on lockdown.

A steal, then another, and then a third helped Oklahoma get the lead. A block by Buddy Hield put Dayton away.

Hield and Jordan Woodard led a second-half defensive surge as Oklahoma quieted the Flyers and their fans to advance to the second weekend of the NCAA tournament with a 72-66 victory Sunday.

No. 4 Kansas rolls to 109-72 rout of Northern Colorado

Brannen Greene missed most of the offseason after hip surgery, and his hip locked up again on him earlier this week, just before Kansas rolled through its exhibition finale.

The Jayhawks' best shooter looked just fine Friday night.

Greene hit all five of his 3-point attempts, including a buzzer-beater to end the first half, and scored 18 points to help No. 4 Kansas roll to a 109-72 victory over Northern Colorado.

Gathers, No. 22 Baylor rout Stephen F Austin 97-55 in opener

Baylor forward Rico Gathers questions why anyone would call point guard Lester Medford a weak link for the No. 22 Bears.

And Stephen F. Austin coach Brad Underwood probably will rethink that assessment, while hoping he isn't wrong about his team as well.

Gathers scored 18 points, Medford had 13 points and nine assists for a punishingly efficient offense, and Baylor handed Underwood by far his worst lost in three seasons with the Lumberjacks with a 97-55 blowout in the season opener Friday night.

He played his entire roster in the eighth-ranked Sooners' 85-56 win over Southland Conference opponent McNeese State. Eleven different players saw at least 10 minutes, with no one on the floor for more than 25.

Strong second half leads No. 4 Iowa State past Illinois

With Illinois and No. 4 Iowa State trading the lead for most of Saturday's championship game in the Emerald Coast Classic, Cyclones guard Monte Norris decided with 10:51 remaining to try and deliver a knockout punch.

Iowa State held a 59-58 lead when Norris had the ball at midcourt and saw Abdel Nader had a step on his defender. Norris fired a lob pass and Nader slammed it home. The dunk was part of an 18-4 run in the Cyclones' 84-73 win.

The Sooners' fourth game had neither, but the result was the same. Ryan Spangler had 20 points and 14 rebounds to help the seventh-ranked Sooners beat Wisconsin 65-48 on Sunday.

No. 5 Iowa State holds off North Dakota St 84-64

For a few minutes, Iowa State's hopes for a huge season laid writhing on the Hilton Coliseum floor.

Star Georges Niang turned out to be fine.

So did the Cyclones, who shook off a sluggish start to overwhelm yet another opponent.

Abdel Nader scored 21 points, Jameel McKay had 15 to go with a career-high 19 rebounds and fifth-ranked Iowa State beat North Dakota State 84-64 on Tuesday night

No. 4 Jayhawks blow out Loyola 94-61 in Diallo's debut

Wayne Selden Jr. sliced down the lane, saw the defense collapse and whipped a pass behind his back, hoping against everything that Cheick Diallo would be there to catch it.

Not only was he there, Diallo was ready to flush it.

In his much-anticipated debut for fourth-ranked Kansas, the 6-foot-9 freshman from Mali had a trio of highlight-reel dunks Tuesday night. He finished with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks while helping the Jayhawks overcome a first-half malaise for a 94-61 victory over Loyola.
