WVU’s Holton suspended indefinitely for violating team rules West Virginia starting forward Jon Holton, the team’s most energetic performer and arguably its most consistent contributor in Big 12 play, has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules. A press release announcing the suspension was sent at 9 p.m. Thursday. Huggins, who did not return messages seeking comment Wednesday and Thursday, had his weekly radio show Thursday from 7-9. A source said Holton will not play in Saturday’s Big 12/SEC Challenge on the road against Florida (13-7) and is not expected to play Tuesday at No. 14 Iowa State and at home Feb. 6 against No. 17 Baylor. The Mountaineers played Tuesday without another starting forward, freshman Esa Ahmad, but Huggins was hopeful he could practice this week and play against the Gators. Junior Nathan Adrian is ordinarily Holton’s backup, but he started in Ahmad’s place Tuesday and had a season-high 10 points.
