No. 4 Kansas cruises to 89-74 victory over Stanford

Jerrod Haase received a long, loud ovation upon his return to Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday.

The rest of the cheers were for the Jayhawks.

Frank Mason III scored 20 points, Devonte Graham delivered an early 3-point barrage and fourth-ranked Kansas pulled away late for an 89-74 victory over Stanford, spoiling the return of the Cardinal's coach to the building where he once starred as a player.

No. 9 Baylor beats No. 7 Xavier 76-61; Bears 3rd Top 10 win

Baylor fans filled the arena with the obligatory chants over "Over-rated!" in the closing minutes as the ninth-ranked Bears were closing out a convincing victory over No. 7 Xavier.

Maybe they should have been chanting "Under-rated!" for their own team.

Manu Lecomte scored 24 points, Johnathan Motley had 17 points with eight rebounds and the Bears took over in the second half for a 76-61 victory Saturday. Less than a month into the season, they already have three wins over Top 10 teams for the first time.

Kansas rolls over UMKC 105-62 to give Bill Self win No. 600

Just as the video celebrating his first 600 wins was wrapping up, Kansas coach Bill Self turned to his left and saw Frank Mason III, extending a ball to him to commemorate the milestone.

It was fitting: Nobody did more to deliver Self's most recent victory.

The sparkplug point guard poured in 30 points to match his career high, Devonte Graham and Josh Jackson also had starring roles, and the third-ranked Jayhawks cruised to a 105-62 victory over Missouri-Kansas City on Tuesday night to give their coach a win 24 years in the making.

No. 15 West Virginia stomps Western Carolina 90-37

Esa Ahmad and No. 15 West Virginia made sure there was no drop off in performance against an outmanned opponent after an emotional road win at Virginia.

The Mountaineers were solid again on defense and Ahmad led another balanced scoring attack with 14 points as West Virginia stomped Western Carolina 90-37 on Wednesday night.

No. 15 West Virginia struggles early, beats VMI 90-55

It took nine games for West Virginia's Daxter Miles Jr. to start to find a rhythm.

Miles scored a season-high 20 points and the 15th-ranked Mountaineers overcame an early lull to beat VMI 90-55 on Saturday and give coach Bob Huggins his 799th career win.

Baylor cruises past Jackson St 82-57 in return to Fort Hood

Al Freeman appreciated a second chance to play in front of the soldiers and their families at Fort Hood.

The Baylor guard showed it with his best game of the season.

Freeman scored a season-high 19 points and made a career-best five 3-pointers and the fourth-ranked Bears returned to the sprawling Army post about an hour's drive south of their Waco campus with an 82-57 victory over Jackson State on Saturday night.

Jackson leads No. 3 Kansas past pesky Davidson, 89-71

It took Carlton Bragg Jr. about 20 minutes to knock the rust off.

Took about the same amount of time for Kansas.

Playing for the first time in a week, the third-ranked Jayhawks were sluggish in falling behind pesky Davidson on Saturday night. But they dominated in the paint in the second half, began getting into transition and ran away from the Wildcats for an 89-71 victory at Sprint Center.

No. 4 Baylor cruises over Texas Southern 89-63

Even during stretches when No. 4 Baylor wasn't at its best Wednesday night, the Bears never allowed Texas Southern to get back in the game.

The fourth-ranked Bears shot 59 percent from the field, 69 percent in the second half, and Johnathan Motley led five double-digit scorers with 17 points and 11 rebounds in an 89-63 victory that completed a perfect run through nonconference play.

No. 11 West Virginia routs Northern Kentucky 92-61

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins wanted to see some improvement from his team after a sloppy performance against Radford.

He had to wait a while.

Tarik Phillip scored 16 points and the 11th-ranked Mountaineers pulled away from Northern Kentucky for a 92-61 victory on Friday.

Texas Tech upsets No. 7 West Virginia in OT, 77-76

Anthony Livingston had been practicing taking 3-pointers from the corner before the game. That's what gave him the confidence to take the game-winner for Texas Tech.

"It was definitely a tough challenge for us," Livingston said of Tuesday night's 77-76 overtime upset of No. 7 West Virginia. "I shot that shot I think over a hundred times before the game, the same exact corner shot. So, I shot that shot with a lot of confidence."

Miles leads No. 7 West Virginia over TCU 82-70

No. 7 West Virginia got lazy on defense and kept letting TCU come back.

The up-and-down effort changed for the Mountaineers when the Horned Frogs threatened to take the lead midway through the second half.

Jevon Carter scored nine of his 13 points during a decisive 16-4 run that sent West Virginia to an 82-70 victory on Saturday.

Mason, Graham lead No. 3 Kansas past Texas Tech, 85-68

Kansas coach Bill Self spent this week bemoaning his team's defense after shootout wins over TCU and Kansas State, even calling it the worst he's seen since he arrived in Lawrence.

That was precisely what Chris Beard didn't want to hear.

"I would have much rather Kansas played better," the first-year Texas Tech coach said, "but I know Coach Self and I could just imagine what their practices have been like the past week."

The No. 3 Jayhawks answered Self's challenge by shutting down the Red Raiders. Frank Mason III poured in 26 points and Devonte Graham added 20 as Kansas cruised to an 85-68 victory Saturday night.

Baylor on verge of No. 1 after 61-57 win over Oklahoma State

Out of the Top 25 when the season started, new point guard Manu Lecomte and the Baylor Bears are on the verge of the first No. 1 ranking in school history.

Lecomte scored 17 points, Johnathan Motley had 13 and second-ranked Baylor came through for a raucous crowd hoping to celebrate a rise to the top of the poll, beating Oklahoma State 61-57 on Saturday night.

No. 2 Kansas rallies past No. 4 Kentucky 79-73 in Challenge

Second-ranked Kansas missed all of its 3-point attempts in the first half, and still the Jayhawks kept on shooting.

That confidence paid off in one of college basketball's toughest, loudest environments.

Josh Jackson calmly made consecutive 3-pointers to jumpstart the Jayhawks, Frank Mason III had 21 points and Kansas beat No. 4 Kentucky 79-73 on Saturday night in the SEC-Big 12 Challenge.

No. 5 Baylor rallies to top Mississippi 78-75

Baylor's Manu Lecomte caught the ball about five feet behind the 3-point line as the shot clock was winding down. For most guys, it wouldn't have been an ideal situation.

    For Lecomte, it was perfect.

"I was deep," Lecomte said. "But I was open."

The 5-foot-11 junior drilled the crucial shot for his fifth 3-pointer, and it proved to be the difference in No. 5 Baylor's hard-fought 78-75 victory over Mississippi on Saturday night in the SEC-Big 12 Challenge.

No. 1 Kansas rallies to beat Oklahoma 73-63 on Senior Night

Frank Mason III walked toward the court with his son by his side, flanked by his father, who tried in vain to hold back to the tears before his son played his final game at Allen Fieldhouse.

"I couldn't believe that this was the last time," the elder Mason said later, reflecting on the pregame ceremony. "It feels like a dream. He's a hell of a role model. I'm proud to have a son like that."

The senior guard proceeded to pour in 23 points for Kansas on senior night, and Devonte Graham hit a series of crucial 3-pointers in the second half, helping the top-ranked Jayhawks rally from a 10-point hole to beat Oklahoma 73-63 on Monday night.
