Motley 23 points for No. 11 Baylor to beat No. 10 WVU 71-62

Ishmail Wainright is the lone senior for 11th-ranked Baylor, and was recognized with a video tribute after his final home game.

This also likely was the Ferrell Center finale for Johnathan Motley, a standout junior and potential NBA lottery pick who delivered quite a farewell to Bears fans if this was indeed his last game there.

Motley scored 19 of his 23 points after halftime in a 71-62 victory over 10th-ranked West Virginia on Monday night. The Bears avenged a 21-point loss in Morgantown on Jan. 10, when they were playing their first-ever game as No. 1 in the AP Top 25 after winning their first 15 games.

No. 24 Iowa State holds off Oklahoma State 86-83

In their last night at Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State's four senior starters gave the Cyclones one last home win that came down to the buzzer.

Matt Thomas scored 25 points and No. 24 Iowa State held off a furious challenge from Oklahoma State on Tuesday night, winning 86-83 to close out its home schedule with its sixth straight win.

Miles scores 23, No. 10 WVU beats No. 24 Iowa State 87-76

Daxter Miles Jr. was determined to give West Virginia's five seniors a proper send-off in their final home game.

He also boosted the Mountaineers' mindset heading into the Big 12 Tournament.

Miles tied a career high with 23 points to lead No. 10 West Virginia to an 87-76 victory over No. 24 Iowa State on Friday night.

TCU stuns No. 1 Kansas 85-82 in Big 12 quarterfinals

It didn't matter to TCU that it was playing just down the road from the Kansas campus in Lawrence, or that the Horned Frogs already had endured a taxing opening-round game in the Big 12 Tournament.

It probably mattered a great deal that the Jayhawks were missing star freshman Josh Jackson.

Regardless, the spunky underdogs from Fort Worth held on after squandering an 11-point second-half lead, and Desmond Bane's three free throws with 2.5 seconds left gave the Horned Frogs an 85-82 victory over the nation's top-ranked team in the quarterfinal round Thursday.

Brown sends K-State past No. 9 Bears 70-64 in Big 12 tourney

Barry Brown and D.J. Johnson heard what critics were saying about Kansas State, all those rumors that coach Bruce Weber was on the hot-seat and the Wildcats were an NCAA Tournament long shot.

They provided a defiant answer to all those people Thursday night.

Brown had 21 points, including a series of crucial foul shots down the stretch, and Johnson had 13 points and seven rebounds to help the Wildcats upset ninth-ranked Baylor 70-64 in the Big 12 Tournament -- clinching not only a spot in the semifinals but likely a berth in the NCAA's field of 68.

Carter leads No. 11 W Virginia past Texas in Big 12 tourney

West Virginia's Bob Huggins sure sounds motivated by last year's runner-up finish at the Big 12 Tournament, but don't ask the often-irascible coach whether his players feel the same way.

"I don't know, man. You're asking me to know what they're thinking," Huggins said after his No. 11 Mountaineers cruised to a 63-53 win over Texas in the quarterfinals Thursday night. "I wish I knew."

No. 23 Iowa St beats Oklahoma St 92-83 in Big 12 tourney

Monte Morris had the ball in his hands with Iowa State's victory assured, knowing he was only an assist shy of the second triple-double in the history of the Big 12 Tournament.

The senior star held the ball until teammate Naz Mitrou-Long came over and took it so he'd get the turnover instead when the shot clock ran out.

The moment at the conclusion of the No. 23 Cyclone's 92-83 victory over Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals Thursday was evidence of two things: How selfless and mature Morris has become during his career in Ames, and how respected he is by Mitrou-Long and the rest of his teammates.

Kansas transfer Carlton Bragg commits to Arizona State

Kansas transfer Carlton Bragg told ESPN he has committed to Arizona State.

Bragg took a visit to the Sun Devils' campus earlier this week, and got back late Tuesday night.

"I felt like it was the best fit for me -- in the Pac-12," he said. "Their style of play fits my style getting up and down the court. I talked to everyone close to me and they felt it was the best fit for me."

Vick leads No. 4 Kansas to 92-56 win over Tennessee State

Tennessee State coach Dana Ford forked over the cash to watch the online feed of Kansas playing in Italy last summer, and $40 for the pay-per-view of the Jayhawks' exhibition game against Missouri.

It was an investment made in scouting the Tigers' first opponent of the season.

"Wasted a lot of money," Ford said with a wry smile.

Lagerald Vick scored 23 points, Svi Mykhailiuk added 15 and the No. 4 Jayhawks ran roughshod over their Ohio Valley counterpart, beating Tennessee State 92-56 on Friday night in their only tuneup before heading to Chicago to face No. 5 Kentucky in the Champions Classic.

Lecomte 22 points, No. 24 Baylor wins opener 107-66 over UCA

The Big 12's top newcomer last season is off to a fast start for No. 24 Baylor. And the Bears are already going deep.

Manu Lecomte, the Belgium-born senior point guard and former Miami transfer, had six of Baylor's 12 3-pointers while scoring 22 points to lead the Bears to a season-opening 107-66 win over Central Arkansas on Friday.

Mykhailiuk scores 17, No. 4 KU beats No. 7 Kentucky 65-61

A chance to build some Self-awareness was too much for Kansas to pass up. Beating a marquee program was a nice little bonus.

Svi Mykhailiuk scored 17 points, and Devonte Graham hit the clinching free throws to give No. 4 Kansas a 65-61 victory over No. 7 Kentucky on Tuesday night that put Self in a tie for second with Roy Williams on the Jayhawks' all-time wins list.

Mykhailiuk helps No. 4 Kansas rout South Dakota State, 98-64

It was late in the first half Friday night that Kansas began walking the ball up court, the searing temperature inside Allen Fieldhouse and the Jayhawks' shortened bench having left them spent.

The slower pace didn't slow down Svi Mykhailiuk.

The senior sharpshooter poured in a career-high 27 points, Lagerald Vick finished with 22 and the fourth-ranked Jayhawks routed Summit League favorite South Dakota State 98-64 in their first game since topping seventh-ranked Kentucky in the Champions Classic earlier this week.

Miles leads No. 24 WVU in rout of Morgan State 111-48

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins was wondering whether his team would regain its energy before the tough part of the schedule.

That problem was solved Saturday night as Daxter Miles scored a career-high 32 points to lead the 24th-ranked Mountaineers over Morgan State 111-48.

No. 25 Baylor blows most of big lead, beats Wisconsin 70-65

Baylor was stuck on the same point total for so long Monday night that coach Scott Drew thought about strolling over to the scorer's table and punching the button to change it himself.

Nobody on the court seemed to be doing it for him.

But despite going the final 8 minutes, 43 seconds without a field goal, the No. 22 Bears somehow managed to hang on to beat Wisconsin 70-65. They blew most of a 19-point lead and looked ragged in doing it, but the outcome was all that mattered in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Classic.

No. 3 KU with 7 in double figures in 102-59 rout of Oakland

Udoka Azubuike was 10 of 16 from the field and his shooting percentage took a nosedive.

That happens when you spend most of your time dunking.

Oh, the Kansas big man still had plenty of dunks Friday night. But he also tried a few nifty hooks, drove to the basket a couple times and finished with a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds, leading the third-ranked Jayhawks to a 102-59 rout of overmatched Oakland.
