No. 20 Seton Hall beats Vanderbilt 72-59

Seton Hall spent Friday morning watching film and the Pirates did not like what they saw, especially defensively.

Once it was time to take the court, the 20th-ranked Pirates decided to do something about it, even if it took a half to get going.

Desi Rodriguez scored a season-high 27 points and Seton Hall clamped down defensively in the second half and beat Vanderbilt 72-59 in the consolation game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Barclays Center.

No. 23 West Virginia dominates 1st half, routs UCF 83-45

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins called out his team after the opening round of the Advocare Invitational.

    It definitely sunk in.

James Bolden scored 17 points, Jevon Carter had 16 and No. 23 West Virginia quickly responded after surviving an upset scare one day earlier by routing Central Florida 83-45 on Friday night in a semifinal at the Advocare Invitational.

Carter scores 29 points, West Virginia beats Missouri 83-79

West Virginia had a wild weekend in Florida that ended up with a three-game sweep.

Jevon Carter scored 29 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute, and the No. 23 Mountaineers overcame a 16-point, second-half deficit to beat Missouri 83-79 on Sunday night in the Advocare Invitational championship game.

Graham scores 35 as No. 2 Kansas routs Toledo 96-58

Devonte Graham's shot hadn't been falling lately, so the Kansas point guard had been content to dish out nearly 10 assists per game, a number that ranked second in the nation.

Well, his shot finally fell Tuesday night.

Graham hit five 3-pointers and poured in a career-high 35 points -- and still racked up five assists without a turnover -- to lead the second-ranked Jayhawks to a 96-58 rout of Toledo and extend the Jayhawks' best start in seven years.

No. 23 TCU beats Belmont 87-76 in return to AP rankings

Rankings were part of the routine in the 13 seasons that TCU coach Jamie Dixon spent at Pittsburgh.

Now that his alma mater is in The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in almost three years in Dixon's second season, the idea will be to keep the Horned Frogs there.

Dixon thought his team handled its return to the rankings well.

Vladimir Brodziansky scored 22 points and the 23rd-ranked Horned Frogs extended the nation's longest winning streak to 12 games with an 87-76 victory against Belmont on Wednesday night.

TCU beats Yale 92-66 for nation-leading 13th straight win

TCU coach Jamie Dixon still wants to figure out ways to get Desmond Bane more shots.

It's easy to see why since the sophomore guard is making nearly 75 percent of them for the season.

Bane scored 18 points, Jaylen Fisher had 17 points and seven assists and No. 23 TCU won its nation-leading 13th straight game, beating Yale 92-66 on Saturday night.

No. 23 Baylor ends 2-game skid, 84-56 over Sam Houston State

Jo Lual-Acuil and the No. 23 Baylor Bears were glad to be back on the court so quickly after a tough week.

Only two days after their second consecutive loss to a Top 25 team, and after falling seven spots in the poll earlier in the day, Lual-Acuil had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead six players who scored in double figures for the Bears in an 84-56 victory over Sam Houston State on Monday.

Texas Tech bounced back from a loss that knocked the Red Raiders out of the Top 25 by beating Nevada in the Wolf Pack's first game in the poll in 10 years.

Keenan Evans scored 25 of his career-high 32 points in the second half and overtime and the Red Raiders rallied from 11 points down after halftime to beat No. 22 Nevada 82-76 on Tuesday night.

No. 20 TCU extends win streak to 13 with 94-83 win over SMU

Kenrich Williams was on a breakaway toward the TCU basket when he was suddenly caught from behind and essentially tackled.

That still couldn't stop the 20th-ranked Horned Frogs from extending the nation's longest winning streak to 14 games with a 94-83 victory over SMU on Tuesday night.

Carter, West lead No. 18 WVU over No. 15 Virginia 68-61

West Virginia's Jevon Carter is doing so much more nowadays than just being a key to Bob Huggins' smothering defense.

Carter had 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead No. 18 West Virginia to a 68-61 victory over No. 15 Virginia 68-61 on Tuesday night, sending the Cavaliers to their first loss.

No. 20 TCU beats No. 22 Nevada 84-80 for 15th straight win

After dominating the first 30 minutes, TCU cooled off and Nevada came on strong.

The 20th-ranked Horned Frogs still had enough left to hang on for an 84-80 victory Friday night in the Hall of Fame Basketball Classic, extending the nation's best winning streak to 15 games.

Omot gets 30, No. 23 Baylor tops Randall 105-82 at Fort Hood

Baylor dressed just six scholarship players because of injuries that shortened the bench and sidelined two of the top three scorers for the 23rd-ranked Bears.

It didn't matter much against tiny Randall, a 400-student Oklahoma college with a large roster considering the size of the student body.

Nuni Omot scored a career-high 30 points while Jo Lual-Acuil and freshman Tristan Clark notched double-doubles, leading Baylor over Randall 105-82 in the Bears' return to Fort Hood on Saturday night.

No. 18 West Virginia holds off Pittsburgh 69-60

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins made it a point to schedule back-to-back games against No. 15 Virginia and Pittsburgh to give the 18th-ranked Mountaineers a taste of what awaits when Big 12 play begins in three weeks.

"I was trying to prepare them and we flunked that test," Huggins said.

Well, maybe not technically. It just sort of felt that way to Huggins after his team nearly let a 20-point lead get away before holding on for a 69-60 over the Panthers on Saturday night in the renewal of the "Backyard Brawl."

Lecomte returns as No. 21 Baylor tops Texas Southern 99-68

Manu Lecomte's wrap on his injured left thumb will come off eventually, assuming it heals.

Baylor coach Scott Drew chuckled while wondering whether that was a good thing.

"Maybe we need to wrap his hand all the time," Drew said after Lecomte scored 22 points in his return after missing a game, helping the 21st-ranked Bears to a 99-68 victory over winless Texas Southern on Thursday night. "He was really good tonight."

Mykhailiuk's late 3-pointer lifts Kansas over Huskers 73-72

His team down a point in the final minute, Kansas' Devonte Graham never thought twice about passing to struggling teammate Svi Mykhailiuk.

Mykhailiuk had missed 19 of his previous 25 3-point shots over three games to that point, and he was wide open in the corner in front of the Jayhawks' bench.

Graham penetrated and then delivered the pass to the senior from Ukraine. His feet set, Mykhailiuk launched the go-ahead 3-pointer, and the 13th-ranked Jayhawks survived a frantic finish to beat Nebraska 73-72 and break out of a mini slump Saturday night.
