No. 24 Texas Tech rolls past Rice 73-53 on old home court

Keenan Evans and No. 24 Texas Tech didn't play very well on throwback night with alumni and former coaches watching.

    It was good enough, though.

Evans scored 13 points, Zhaire Smith added 12 and the Red Raiders beat Rice 73-53 on Saturday night in their first game since 1999 at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, their old home court

Undefeated No. 15 TCU tops winless Texas Southern 91-72

For a half, winless Texas Southern refused to follow the script against undefeated No. 15 TCU. The Tigers just couldn't keep pace for a whole game.

Consecutive 3-pointers from TCU's Alex Robinson and Kenrich Williams sparked a second-half surge, giving the Horned Frogs (11-0) some breathing room on their way to a 91-72 win. The victory extended the nation's longest winning streak to 16 games dating to last season.

Mykhailiuk's 3s spur No. 14 Kansas to 109-64 rout of Omaha

Svi Mykhailiuk struggled to get his shot to drop for three straight games, two of them losses and a third that easily could have been had the Kansas sharpshooter missed one more 3-pointer.

Instead, Mykhailiuk hit the shot to beat Nebraska.

He kept hitting them against Omaha.

Mykhailiuk knocked down six more 3s and poured in 26 points, Devonte Graham added 17 points and the No. 14 Jayhawks rolled to a 109-64 victory over the Mavericks on Monday night.

Texas Tech blows out Fla Atlantic in 2nd half of 90-54 win

Texas Tech coach Chris Beard uses defense to explain how the 21st-ranked Red Raiders hit more 3-pointers in one half than they had in an entire game all season.

Keenan Evans led six players in double figures with 15 points and Texas Tech hit 11 shots from long range while blowing out Florida Atlantic after halftime of a 90-54 victory Tuesday night.

Young sets Big 12 record with 22 assists in Oklahoma win

Trae Young has become known for his scoring during his brief career with No. 17 Oklahoma. It was his record-tying passing that made the biggest difference for the Sooners on Tuesday night against Northwestern State.

The freshman guard had 26 points and tied an NCAA Division I record with 22 assists as Oklahoma rolled 105-68 in the Sooners' first game since moving into the Top 25.

No. 18 Baylor wins 5th straight, 80-60 over Southern

With one eye looking forward to Christmas break and Big 12 play, No. 18 Baylor didn't look sharp for stretches Wednesday night.

But Bears coach Scott Drew is always quick to point out the number of upsets college basketball produces, almost on a nightly basis, so he was happy to see his team avoid that trap.

Manu Lecomte scored 22 points and Baylor won its fifth straight, 80-60 over Southern.

Udoka Azubuike gets 7 dunks, No. 14 Kansas tops Stanford

Frank Mason III is mere months removed from his sensational Kansas career, and this time he sat courtside in his new arena as an NBA rookie ready to watch as a fan and offer some thoughts and encouragement to his old Jayhawks teammates who remain dear friends.

Mason provided a simple postgame message: Keep winning. Be aggressive on both ends of the floor.

"It's Frank," Devonte' Graham said, "we're in his building."

Udoka Azubuike certainly took charge on offense, scoring his team's initial 10 points and dunking seven times on the way to 24 points as No. 14 Kansas ran away from Stanford early for a 75-54 victory Thursday night.

No. 21 Texas Tech rolls past ACU 74-47 in last Big 12 tuneup

Zach Smith returned to Texas Tech's starting lineup after coming off the bench for a game for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The senior forward looked ready for the start of the rugged Big 12.

Smith scored a season-high 16 points, freshman Zhaire Smith added 14 and the 21st-ranked Red Raiders beat Abilene Christian 74-47 on Friday in their final tuneup for conference play.

Young scores 31, leads No. 17 Oklahoma past Northwestern

After another dazzling performance, Oklahoma point guard Trae Young declared it the "best time to be a Sooner."

    He might be right.

The freshman guard had 31 points and 12 assists to help 17th- ranked Oklahoma roll past Northwestern 104-78 on Friday night.

No. 15 TCU beats William & Mary for record 17th straight win

Since he's from Fort Worth, Alex Robinsonknows a couple of players from the previous TCU team to take a perfect record into Big 12 play.

The expectations were different a few years ago because the Horned Frogs were coming off a winless conference season. Robinson and crew just won the NIT, and have kept it going with a school-record 17 straight wins.

Robinson scored a season-high 23 points, Jaylen Fisher had 17 of his career-best 21 points after halftime and the 15th-ranked Horned Frogs extended the nation's longest winning streak, beati

No. 22 Texas Tech tops No. 18 Baylor 77-53 in Big 12 opener

Texas Tech is starting to look like the Red Raiders of a decade ago, when they were winning NCAA Tournament games under Bob Knight with Chris Beard as one of his top assistants.

Beard's bunch took another big step in the Big 12 opener.

Keenan Evans scored 18 points, freshman Zhaire Smith added 15 in his conference debut and the No. 22 Red Raiders rolled past 18th-ranked Baylor 77-53 on Friday night.

Graham leads No. 11 Kansas past Texas 92-86

Kansas players saw Mohamed Bamba, Texas' long-armed shot blocker, stationed near the basket and figured there were easier ways to score than to challenge him.

So the 11th-ranked Jayhawks shot 3-pointers, converting 17 of 35, and defeated Texas 92-86 on Friday night in the Big 12 opener for both teams. They made 11 3-pointers in the second half.

No. 7 West Virginia rallies for 12th straight win

West Virginia and Oklahoma State played to their defensive personalities Friday night, pressuring and harassing each other for 40 minutes.

The seventh-ranked Mountaineers maintained their profile, however, while the Cowboys faltered late at one of their greatest strengths -- free throw shooting -- allowing West Virginia to surge to its 12th straight win, 85-79.

Young leads No. 12 Oklahoma over No. 10 TCU

With its highest ranking ever and in its first home game in 20 seasons with both teams ranked, No. 10 TCU finally settled in after No. 12 Oklahoma opened the game with 11 straight points.

The Horned Frogs even went on to build a 13-point lead after halftime -- and then let it all slip away at the end.

Standout Sooners freshman Trae Young scored 39 points, including the tiebreaking free throws with 7.9 seconds left, and had 14 assists to give Oklahoma a 90-89 victory Saturday in the Big 12 opener for both teams. The Horned Frogs had won 17 games in a row, the nation's longest winning streak.

No. 6 West Virginia holds off Kansas State, 77-69

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins has a play card packed with 75 offensive sets, yet he couldn't seem to find anything that would work against Kansas State on Monday.

So Huggins told his guys to get the Wildcats to chase them in the hopes of opening up the lane.

Maybe that freelancing should be set No. 76.

Teddy Allen kept driving to the rim and scored 22 points, Lamont West added 19, and the sixth-ranked Mountaineers -- so often the undersized team whenever they step on the floor -- beat up pesky Kansas State in the paint in a 77-69 victory that pushed their win streak to 13 games.

No. 16 TCU bounces back with 81-78 overtime win at Baylor

Kenrich Williams finally got a hometown victory with No. 16 TCU, which needed overtime after again blowing a double-digit lead in the second half.

Williams, the TCU senior guard from Waco, had 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Horned Frogs in an 81-78 victory at Baylor on Tuesday night. That included the inbounds pass to Kouat Noi for the punctuating breakaway slam in the closing seconds.

No. 18 Texas Tech never trails in 85-73 win over No. 10 KU

Texas Tech coach Chris Beard didn't expect his team to walk out of Allen Fieldhouse with a victory Tuesday night, especially considering the Red Raiders had never done so in school history.

"What I did expect," Beard said, "was to play hard and play well."

Turns out that was a winning formula after all.

Keenan Evans scored 15 points, Norense Odiase and Justin Gray had 12 apiece, and the No. 18 Red Raiders never trailed in beating the No. 10 Jayhawks 85-73 for their first win at the Phog in 18 tries.

Young's 27 points help No. 7 Oklahoma rout Oklahoma St

Trae Young has spent the first two months of his Oklahoma career doing what no Sooner has done before.

The freshman nearly pulled off his most improbable feat yet. He fell one rebound short of a triple-double to help No. 7 Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State 109-89 on Wednesday night.
