No. 6 West Virginia beats No. 7 Oklahoma 89-76

Every season, West Virginia coach Bob Huggins seems to have someone ready to jump off the bench in a scoring mood.

Teddy Allen has become that guy for the Mountaineers at the start of the Big 12 season. The freshman's nickname? Buckets.

The reserve forward scored 20 points in 24 minutes, Sagaba Konate had 14 of his 16 points in the second half and No. 6 West Virginia beat No. 7 Oklahoma 89-76 on Saturday night.

Graham 28 points as No. 10 Kansas wins 88-84 at No. 16 TCU

Devonte Graham wanted the ball down the stretch, and the senior guard kept making free throws for No. 10 Kansas.

Graham scored 28 points, including eight straight free throws in the final 2:02, and the Jayhawks held on for an 88-84 victory over No. 16 TCU on Saturday night.

Evans 27 points as No. 18 Texas Tech beats K-State 74-58

Keenan Evans and No. 18 Texas Tech have done more than just win their first three Big 12 games. The Red Raiders haven't trailed in a conference game yet.

When Kansas State made a bit of a run in the second half Saturday, Evans scored the game's next four points off turnovers and the Red Raiders maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way in a 74-58 victory.

Newman's career night helps No. 12 Kansas beat Iowa St 83-78

Malik Newman started the game for Kansas on the bench.

He was on the floor when it mattered.

The on-again, off-again starter finally broke out for a career-high 27 points, and Svi Mykhailiuk added 23 to help the No. 12 Jayhawks beat pesky Iowa State 83-78 on Tuesday night.

    Young's 27 lift No. 9 Oklahoma over No. 8 Texas Tech 75-65

Texas Tech's aggressive defense made Trae Young look like a typical freshman in the first half.

Young was back to being his dynamic self in the second. The national scoring leader had 22 of his 27 points after the break to help No. 9 Oklahoma beat No. 8 Texas Tech 75-65 on Tuesday night.

No. 2 West Virginia escapes with 57-54 win over Baylor

Handed its highest ranking in 58 years, West Virginia was lethargic against Baylor for nearly the entire game. It took Jevon Carter getting free for the go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute to keep the nation's longest winning streak going.

Carter, a senior, got around a screen set by teammate Sagaba Konate to sink a long jumper from the right wing with 57.5 seconds left and No. 2 West Virginia escaped with a 57-54 victory Tuesday night.

Sims' free throw lifts Texas over No. 16 TCU 99-98 in 2OT

Texas had just taken a one-point lead with 5 seconds left when TCU's Jaylen Fisher drove the lane and went up for what should have been easy layup at the buzzer for the win.

Only someway, somehow, the ball fell out and hit the floor.

The Longhorns beat the 16th-ranked Horned Frogs 99-98 in double overtime to earn their biggest win of the season, just after the Texas program was walloped with an emotional sledgehammer: sophomore guard Andrew Jones being diagnosed with leukemia.

No. 8 Texas Tech tops 2nd-ranked West Virginia 72-71

Freshman Zhaire Smith cradled the inbounds pass as the final eight-tenths of a second ticked off the clock and the frenzied Texas Tech fans rushed the court.

The Red Raiders will savor this moment, even if the rough-and-tumble Big 12 is just getting started.

Keenan Evans scored 20 points, Brandone Francis had a career-high 17 and No. 8 Texas Tech won the first-ever Top 10 matchup on its home court, beating second-ranked West Virginia 72-71 on Saturday.

No. 12 Kansas holds on to beat Kansas State 73-72

Kansas coach Bill Self insists he hasn't spent any additional time this season working on late-game situations, those pressure-packed moments that are often the difference between victory and defeat.

    Perhaps he should.

The No. 12 Jayhawks were in another back-and-forth affair on Saturday, this time with their biggest league rival. It took 23 points from Devonte Graham, two go-ahead free throws from Malik Newman with 15 seconds left, and some salty defense on the final possession to hold off the Wildcats, 73-72.

Mykhailiuk, Graham lead No. 10 Kansas over No. 6 WVU 71-66

Kansas' reserves were struggling to produce and time was running down, so Svi Mykhailiuk and Devonte Graham went to work.

Mykhailiuk and Graham hit big shot after big shot down the stretch to bring No. 10 Kansas back from 16 points down in the first half, and the Jayhawks held off No. 6 West Virginia 71-66 on Monday night.

Brown, Wade star as Kansas State routs No. 4 Oklahoma 87-69

Barry Brown missed a potential game-winner at Kansas last weekend, an off-balance shot he was never supposed to take, and spent the next couple days ruing the missed opportunity.

Kansas State's gritty junior guard made up for it Tuesday night.

Brown poured in 24 points, locked down defensively on Oklahoma star Trae Young, and ultimately led the plucky, defensive-minded Wildcats to an 87-69 upset of the fourth-ranked Sooners.

Roach scores 20 as Texas beats No. 8 Texas Tech 67-58

Texas guard Kerwin Roach had already missed two games with a fractured left hand and was supposed to be on the bench for at least one more.

Even when X-rays showed Roach's hand was healing quickly and he suited up for pregame warmups, Longhorns coach Shaka Smart didn't think his sophomore guard would play against No. 8 Texas Tech.

Then came a sly hint from the team trainer just before tipoff.

"I literally was walking out on the court at the beginning of the game and turned to the trainer and said, `Can (Roach) play or not?' And he winked at me. That's how I found out," Smart said.

Roach had a huge night in his surprise return, scoring 20 points and igniting Texas' offense as the Longhorns earned their second home win over a ranked opponent in a week, beating the Red Raiders 67-58.

No. 24 TCU snaps 3-game skid with 96-73 over Iowa State

Jaylen Fisher brings plenty of energy to the court for No. 24 TCU. Alex Robinson and his teammates wanted to make sure they didn't miss a beat without their injured point guard.

Vladimir Brodziansky had 26 points on 11-of-13 shooting, Robinson set a school record with 17 assists and the Horned Frogs snapped a three-game losing streak with a 96-73 win over Iowa State on Wednesday night in their first game without Fisher.

Iowa State upsets No. 8 Texas Tech 70-52

After a lofty start this season, No. 8 Texas Tech was humbled this week.

The Big 12 has a way of doing that -- even ones as experienced and talented as the Red Raiders.

Freshman Cameron Lard scored 18 points and Iowa State cruised past Texas Tech 70-52 on Saturday, its first win over a ranked opponent this season and its biggest win over a Top-10 team in terms of margin of victory.

No. 10 Kansas rallies late to beat Baylor, 70-67

Kansas coach Bill Self has relied on a four-guard lineup all season, one that is designed to attack the basket aggressively, draw fouls and get to the free throw line.

He was fortunate one of those four guards stepped up Saturday night.

Malik Newman scored seven of his game-high 24 points in the final minutes, bailing out the rest of his sluggish teammates, and Baylor turned the ball over on the last inbounds play as the No. 10 Jayhawks escaped with a 70-67 victory that kept them atop the Big 12.

Wade scores 20, Kansas St beats No. 24 TCU 73-68

On throwback day at Kansas State, the Wildcats threw down another ranked opponent.

Wearing the lavender jerseys and deep purple shorts that were popular when coach Jack Hartman took the team to the Elite Eight in 1981, these Wildcats got off to a fast start and beat No. 24 TCU 73-68 Saturday.
