    No. 18 Baylor wins 104-59 over Hardin-Simmons

Back on the mainland after a week in Hawaii, Baylor coach Scott Drew got exactly what he hoped for from his No. 18 Bears.

Playing for the only time between their first loss and another game against a top 10 team, Brady Heslip and Rico Gathers each had 17 points to lead six Baylor players scoring in double figures and Cory Jefferson had a double-double in a 104-59 win over Hardin-Simmons on Sunday.

Dustin Hogue's career game lets No. 17 Iowa State rip Auburn

Dustin Hogue was supposed to be a complimentary piece for Iowa State.

It looks as if he's ready for a bigger role.

Hogue set career highs with 22 points and 16 rebounds, and the 17th-ranked Cyclones pounded Auburn 99-70 on Monday night for their sixth straight win.

No. 20 Baylor sends No. 3 Kentucky to second loss of season

Coach John Calipari was asked about the chances of his young Kentucky Wildcats getting to play in the Dallas Cowboys' massive stadium again in four months.

"For us? What you just watched?" Calipari said. "We're just trying to win our next game and get tougher."

All the freshmen are good, but the third-ranked Wildcats are a long way from getting back to Arlington for the Final Four in April after a 67-62 loss to No. 20 Baylor on Friday night.

Nash leads No. 9 OSU past South Carolina 79-52

Le'Bryan Nash insisted last week's loss to Memphis wasn't on Oklahoma State's mind when it took the court against South Carolina.

Whatever the ninth-ranked Cowboys were focused on worked out just fine as they dominated the Gamecocks in a 79-52 victory on Friday night.

No. 17 Iowa State rallies past UNI 91-82 in OT

For the first time this season, Iowa State found itself staring at a loss -- and a blowout one at that.

The Cyclones took the lead with an historic run, lost it on a banked-in 3 to end regulation and grabbed it for good with a dominant performance in overtime.

Melvin Ejim scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and OT and 17th-ranked Iowa State rallied from 18 points down to beat Northern Iowa 91-82 on Saturday for its best start in 10 years.

No. 7 Oklahoma State overcomes slow start to beat Louisiana Tech

Marcus Smart will likely have more opportunities to play on an NBA court.

But the All-America guard -- and potential lottery pick -- decided not to force any shots and get his teammates more involved Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena, home of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Big 12 Conference's leading scorer took a backseat as Le'Bryan Nash scored 22 points and No. 7 Oklahoma State overcame a sluggish start to pull away for a 70-55 victory over Louisiana Tech.

Perry Ellis, Joel Embiid lead No. 13 Kansas past New Mexico

Joel Embiid had just picked up his second foul, and like so many other games this season, he knew he was going to be spending the rest of the first half sitting on the Kansas bench.

The 7-foot freshman vowed to make up for it in the second half.

Embiid scored 16 of his career-high 18 points over the final 20 minutes, leading the No. 13 Jayhawks to an 80-63 victory over New Mexico on Saturday night that ended a two-game skid.

No. 7 Oklahoma State shuts down Delaware State in blowout

Seventh-ranked Oklahoma State required patience Tuesday night -- on both ends of the floor.

The Big 12 Conference's second-leading offense, averaging 88.4 points per game, faced off with a Delaware State squad that employed the deliberate, shot-clock-eating offense of veteran coach Greg Jackson. The time-consuming tactics worked for a half, but the athletic Cowboys bolted out of the gate in the second half, forcing their guests to play at a much quicker pace.

A 30-16 halftime advantage ballooned to 48-18 four minutes into the second half thanks mainly to full-court defensive pressure. After playing at Jackson's pace for 20 minutes, OSU coach Travis Ford decided it was time to play at his pace the rest of the way.

The 75 points in a 75-43 victory were 13 points fewer than his squad's season average, but Ford knew what to expect from Tuesday's opponent.

"We played hard in the first half, but we didn't play with

No. 12 Baylor beats Northwestern State 91-84 in OT

Kenny Chery was wondering how he missed that layup at the end of regulation. Baylor's point guard more than made up for it in overtime.

Chery scored 12 of his 20 points in the extra period for the 12th-ranked Bears, who returned from an extended break with a 91-84 victory over Northwestern State on Wednesday night.

Demarcus Holland, Texas upend No. 14 North Carolina

Texas coach Rick Barnes had told his players they would have to do something unexpected if they wanted to get more respect. The Longhorns figured out a way to do that Wednesday night with yet another win over North Carolina.

Demarcus Holland scored on a stickback of his own free throw with 4.1 seconds left to help Texas hold on and beat the 14th-ranked Tar Heels 86-83, its sixth straight win.

Josh Hart scores 19 points as No. 8 Villanova tops Rider

With his team coming off its break for final exams and a showdown against No. 2 Syracuse looming next week, Villanova coach Jay Wright had a couple of major concerns heading into Saturday's game against Rider.

As has been the case all season, it turned out he had nothing to worry about.

Led by a career-high 19 points off the bench from freshman Josh Hart, No. 8 Villanova remained perfect with an 88-67 rout of Rider.

Thomas Gipson, Kansas State outlast No. 21 Gonzaga

At the media timeout with 7:51 remaining and his team leading No. 21 Gonzaga by two, Kansas State coach Bruce Weber challenged his players.

Weber told them the Bulldogs had put up nearly 30 points in the second half.

"They had been scoring a little too easy," Weber said. "I told our guys we needed to get stops right then. They were at 52. And they stayed at 52 for a long time."

Indeed, Gonzaga scored only two points in the next seven minutes after that timeout, keying Kansas State's 72-62 upset victory.

Tarik Black, Joel Embiid help No. 18 Kansas trounce Georgetown

Tarik Black never let his chin drop. He never quit working hard in practice. He never stopped making the rest of his Kansas teammates laugh until their stomachs hurt.

If anything, once he was relegated to the bench, Black did all of that stuff even better.

His positive attitude paid off on Saturday.

Black got a chance to play extended minutes for the first time in weeks against Georgetown, and the Memphis transfer responded by plowing through a physical bunch of Hoyas for 17 points in the 18th-ranked Jayhawks' 86-64 victory.

No. 14 Iowa State wins, matches best start in school history

Georges Niang and Iowa State just keep rolling along. The program's fastest start is within reach, and it looks as if the Cyclones could take down a few school records this season.

Niang scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half, and No. 14 Iowa State beat Akron 83-60 on Monday in the semifinals of the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii.
