Penn men's basketball struggles offensively, falls to No. 12 Kansas State, 64-48

The Red and Blue had a chance to make paradise even sweeter. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

Penn men’s basketball fell to No. 12 Kansas State, 64-48, in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam basketball tournament in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The game was closer than the final score indicated, as the Wildcats (4-0) separated themselves late once the game was out of hand. Junior guard Devon Goodman once again led the Quakers in scoring with 18 points in the contest.

Longhorns stun No. 7 Tar Heels in Las Vegas

Kerwin Roach II blended aggression and good decision making, just how coach Shaka Smart drew it up.

Roach scored a career-best 32 points and helped Texas hold off a late charge to beat No. 7 North Carolina 92-89 on Thursday and advance to the final of the Las Vegas Invitational.

No. 2 Kansas outlasts No. 5 Tennessee in OT

Bill Self wanted to see his young team play in and win a tough, grind it out game. They did just that against a team he thinks can compete for a National Championship in March.

Dedric Lawson had 24 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, and No. 2 Kansas rallied to beat No. 5 Tennessee 87-81 in overtime early Saturday morning in the NIT Season Tip-Off title game.

Vick leads No. 2 Kansas past 90-84 win over Stanford in OT

After struggling to score in the first half, Lagerald Vick came through in a big way to rally No. 2 Kansas to a big win over Stanford.

Vick hit the tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation and had eight of his 27 points to start overtime and lead the Jayhawks to a 90-84 victory over Stanford on Saturday night.

No. 20 Texas Tech rallies past Memphis in Miami, 78-67

Shooters get hot all the time in basketball.

Tariq Owens says the same applies to shot-blockers like himself. And No. 20 Texas Tech is extremely fortunate that he found his way into a groove just in time on Saturday.

Owens blocked six shots in the last nine minutes, fueling a 33-10 game-ending run that carried the Red Raiders to a 78-67 comeback win over Memphis on Saturday at the HoopHall Miami Invitational. Owens finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high-tying eight blocks in only 24 minutes.

No. 2 Kansas surges in 2nd half vs. Wofford, loses Azubuike

Kansas endured yet another slow start -- plus the loss of a player with NBA aspirations -- before finally pulling away from a small-conference opponent.

Dedric Lawson had 20 points and eight rebounds, and the No. 2 Jayhawks ran off 27 consecutive points during the second half beat Wofford 72-47 on Tuesday night after center Udoka Azubuike left with a right ankle injury.

No. 1 KU tops No. 17 Villanova 74-71 in Final 4 rematch

Lagerald Vick had never watched last season's Final Four loss to Villanova before this week, when top-ranked Kansas had to endure every minute of it while prepping for Saturday's game against the Wildcats.

"We watched it for like, a week straight," Vick said. "It was definitely hard."

He'll have better memories of the rematch.

Vick poured in 29 points Saturday, Dedric Lawson added 28 points and 12 rebounds, and both helped the Jayhawks make just enough free throws in the closing minutes to hold off the No. 17 Wildcats 74-71 in a game that was nip-and-tuck almost the entire way.

No. 20 Sun Devils rally from 18 down to beat Georgia 76-74

Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley thought his team showed the kind of toughness it needs to get back to the NCAA Tournament this season.

"I just think it's a great ceiling with great potential," he said. "We're a determined group, a resilient group, and a lot of teams would've back out of this one maybe at halftime."

Remy Martin scored 21 points, Romello White added 16 and No. 20 Arizona State rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat Georgia 76-74 on Saturday night.

Lawson, Moore carry No. 1 KU to 89-53 rout of South Dakota

Kansas coach Bill Self hoped from the moment Charlie Moore arrived as a transfer from Cal that the talented shooting guard would provide the Jayhawks a lift off the bench.

    He finally did Tuesday night.

Moore knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points, Dedric Lawson added 16 points and 14 rebounds, and the top-ranked Jayhawks pulled away over the final 15 minutes for an 89-53 win over plucky but overmatched South Dakota on Tuesday night.

No. 11 Texas Tech eases past Texas Rio Grande Valley, 71-46

Some rust was inevitable for 11th-ranked Texas Tech after eight days off, and the Red Raiders looked sluggish for a half against Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Then Texas Tech flipped the script in the second half with defense, something it's done plenty this season.

Jarrett Culver scored 19 points, first-time starter Deshawn Coprew added 13 points and 10 rebounds and the Raiders pulled away from Texas-Rio Grande Valley for a 71-46 victory Friday night in their final tuneup before Big 12 Conference play.
