Trio scores 16 apiece as No. 1 Baylor beats Alcorn St 94-57

If top-ranked Baylor had any ill effects from a quick turnaround, it didn't show.

The Bears were back in action on their home floor Monday night against Alcorn State, less than 48 hours after a road game at Oregon on Saturday.

Kendall Brown, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and Flo Thamba scored 16 points apiece to lead five players in double figures, and No. 1 Baylor romped to a 94-57 victory against the overmatched Braves.

No. 6 Kansas routs Nevada 88-61 in hastily scheduled game

After Kansas had its game against Harvard wiped out by COVID-19, and Nevada had its Mountain West opener against San Jose State postponed for the same reason, Wolf Pack coach Steve Alford jumped at the chance to visit storied Allen Fieldhouse for the first time.

By halftime of the hastily arranged fill-in game, he was probably regretting it.

Christian Braun scored 22 points, Ochai Agbaji added 16 and the sixth-ranked Jayhawks rolled to an 88-61 victory over the turnover-prone Wolf Pack before another sellout crowd in the storied arena on Wednesday night.

Carr leads No. 17 Texas past short-handed WVirginia 74-59

Marcus Carr spent the nonconference portion of his first season at Texas becoming comfortable in coach Chris Beard's offense, trying to be a good teammate and working to create shots for others.

On Saturday, Carr was assertive looking for his own shots. Carr scored a season-best 20 points and No. 17 Texas defeated short-handed West Virginia 74-59 in the teams' Big 12 opener, snapping the Mountaineers' eight-game winning streak.

Coleman-Lands scores 20, No. 6 KU beats George Mason 76-67

    — Kim English probably didn't have Kansas guard Jalen Coleman-Lands or forward Mitch Lightfoot circled on his scouting report, especially considering the George Mason coach only had a couple days to put it together.

The two backups certainly made English pay for it.

Coleman-Lands came off the bench to hit five 3-pointers and score 20 points, Lightfoot hopped up after him and scored 14, and together they helped No. 6 Kansas hold off the Patriots 76-67 on Saturday in a late addition to the schedule.

No. 6 Kansas survives cold stretch, beats Oklahoma State

Bill Self didn't know exactly how many consecutive shots his team missed to close the first half — it was 19 — but the Kansas coach didn't panic at halftime, telling his players "the lid will come off" the basket.

It certainly did. No. 6 Kansas shot 70.8% from the field in the second half, helping the Jayhawks overcome a scoreless streak of more than 9 1/2 minutes and beat Oklahoma State 74-63 on Tuesday night in the delayed Big 12 Conference opener for both teams.

Top-ranked Baylor beats Oklahoma 84-74 for 20th win in row

Adam Flagler glanced down at the stat sheet and groaned. James Akinjo didn't even want to see the Baylor turnovers he knew were glaring on the page.

While the guards combined for 12 of Baylor's season-high 20 turnovers, both also scored more than 20 points as the top-ranked Bears stretched their national-best winning streak to 20 games with an 84-74 win over Oklahoma on Tuesday night.

No. 1 Baylor loses 2nd straight home game, 61-54 to Okla St

Bryce Thompson and Oklahoma State completed quite a journey to beat a No. 1 team on the road for the first time in school history. They also gave Baylor consecutive home losses.

Thompson scored the game's final six points and finished with 19 as the Cowboys, in their third Big 12 road game in five days while traveling more than 3,200 miles, beat Baylor 61-54 on Saturday.

No. 9 Kansas uses big 2nd half to stuff West Virginia, 85-59

Kansas has been waiting all season for David McCormack to give the No. 9 Jayhawks a consistent force inside.

It's been waiting for Jalen Wilson to finally shake off a season-long slump, too.

Ochai Agbaji? Well, he's been just fine.

McCormack had 19 points and 15 rebounds in a virtuoso outing against West Virginia. Wilson added 23 points and eight boards of his own. And Agbaji, the Big 12's leading scorer, merely had 20 points and seven rebounds as the Jayhawks shook off a sluggish first half to rout the Mountaineers 85-59 on Saturday.

Cryer, Mayer lead No. 5 Baylor past West Virginia 77-68

Despite its recent struggles at home, Baylor still knows a thing or two about winning on the road, even when short-handed.

LJ Cryer and Matthew Mayer each went on a 3-point tear to set a career high for scoring, and No. 5 Baylor snapped a two-game losing streak with a 77-68 victory over West Virginia on Tuesday night.

No. 18 Texas Tech's strong 2nd half beats No. 15 Iowa State

Kevin Obanor and No. 18 Texas Tech got physical with No. 15 Iowa State. The Red Raiders had some reinforcements this time.

Two weeks after the Red Raiders lost at Iowa State with only seven healthy players, Obanor scored 13 of his 15 points with several putback baskets in Texas Tech's strong second half for a 72-60 victory Tuesday night.
