Promoter Mickey Helliet reckons his next bill topper could be the small hall fight of the year.

Croydon ticket-seller Chas ‘The Bomb’ Symonds and Gavin ‘Guv’nor’ Tait go head to head for the vacant Southern Area welterweight championship at The Coronet in Elephant & Castle on Friday, September 16 on a show that also includes heavyweight power puncher Dillian Whyte, unbeaten light-middleweight Wayne Alwan-Arab and Lee Cook, the former Southern Area lightweight champion.

Symonds is a former holder of the title – picking himself off the floor to stop Brett James in a four-round shoot out seven years ago – and Tait has come through a fight that Eurosport commentator Steve Holdsworth rates as one of the best toe-to-toe scraps he has ever seen.
