I saw that Dwight Jaynes was reporting that Wheels had been all set to call the Blazers/Houston game before the cancellation:

There were a lot of people disappointed when the NBA season went into a hiatus last week because of COVID-19 and locally, a lot of that disappointment was because the much-anticipated game last Sunday was not going to be played.

It was the Houston Rockets in Moda Center to play the Trail Blazers and featured the long-awaited return of Portland’s Jusuf Nurkic to basketball.

But it was also going to be another return to Moda Center for someone Trail Blazer fans haven’t heard from in almost a year:

Radio play-by-play man Brian Wheeler, who was going to do the game for ESPN radio.

“It was all set,” Wheeler said. “Their regulars were tied up with college tournaments and it’s hard for a freelancer to get a chance, but they called.”

After two decades with the Blazers, Wheeler has been on the sidelines all season battling health issues, but has still been on the team’s payroll. It would have been a lot of fun. I know the Blazers so well and I know Mike D’Antoni very well, so it would have been an easy game to call.”
