MM on a serous note, I very much agree with Hail. When you are making a point to be negative or counter a positive, you have many many great insightful posts.

Great post. I wholeheartedly agree that having Evan Turner setting up CJ and Dame with more catch-and-shoot opportunities is something we would really benefit from. Just that alone could bring up both our boys 3p% up, maybe even lifting Dame above the 40% mark. Now... if only Evan Turner could raise his own 3p% up, too, that would be all the icing on the cake. I wonder how the blazers are gonna handled that aspect of his game? Just let him fire whenever he gets an open shot (i.e. Aminu last season)? It's not like Turner has never had a good season from long range: he had a respectable .365 percentage back in the 2012-2013 season.

Turner has taken 150+ 3PA twice in his career. He shot .365 and .321. For all the rest he does, .321 would be fine with me.

Thanks for steering this back on topic...

If Turner can shoot anywhere near .365 from 3-point range, I'll be beyond thrilled. That's above league average. 3-point shooting was the one area where Batum is clearly superior to Turner, but Batum's last season in Portland he only shot .324 3FG% and last year, in CHO, the $125 million man was only .348 3FG% (slightly below league average).

It will be interesting to see how Turner does in Stotts' system. I bet nobody here, and probably not even Terry or Neil, would have predicted Aminu, a career .286 3-point shooter would actually shoot better from 3 last year than Batum.

When derogatory, my posts are of high quality too. Some people don't see that because their view is different. My joke about Smith not passing the keyboard was fucking amazing. Derogatory as well, but no one cared because no one really likes him anyway. Had it been about Vonleh or someone else people like I would have been chastised

Although this thread is about how Dame and C.J. will benefit from playing with Turner, I think the reciprocal is also true. I think Turner will benefit greatly from playing with the second best, second most prolific backcourt in the NBA.

    In BOS, their four largest volume 3-point shooters were at .359, .361, .336 and .253 from 3-point range (a combined 497 - 1476 = .337 3FG% - significantly below league average). In POR, our four top 3-point shooters by volume were .375, .417, ,361 and .393 from 3-point range (a combined 664 - 1716 = .387 3FG% - significantly above league average).

So, not only will Turner likely rack up more assists passing to guys who shoot higher percentages, like Aminu before him Turner will get more wide open threes as opposing defenses focus on running Dame, C.J. and Crabbe off the 3-point line.

Seems like a very symbiotic relationship.

a.) your remark was accurate and could be easily backed up with statistical data

b.) nobody cares about Russ Smith because he is not, and never will be, on our regular season roster.

Yeah, Aminu and Turner have some similarities when it comes to their 3-point shooting history. Both had consecutive bad 3-point shooting seasons. Both have had halfway decent 3-point shooting seasons somewhere in their career. And if I remember correctly, both have come off seasons (the following season becoming blazers) where they have shown flashes of brilliance/potential or just an uptick in 3-point shots made during the second half of the season or during playoffs: Aminu hit 3s in the playoffs, Turner shot well from the 3 after all star break. This might be a little too optimistic, but Turner could have a similar rise in his first season as a Blazer. Terry's magic hands and all that. Although, to our chagrin, we may have to live through Turner bricking A LOT of open shots before that ever happens.

Maybe since I am an old man and have seen a lot, I can tell you what I think happened here. I believe MM was only was trying to say how strongly he disagreed with your comparison of Vonleh and Randolph as basketball players. To him, the comparison was so off base that he decided to emphasize his point by speculating that you must have meant to compare their off-court behavior. Maybe he has a longstanding resentment about Randolph's bad behavior that still stuck in his craw, and so this popped out. He never said that there was a valid comparison between the two off court. I don't think he ever intended to be a troll. He is probably genuinely puzzled why a couple of posters are calling him stupid, asinine and a troll. Since I see this thread goes on for many more pages, which I will not read, I have to say that I personally wonder if a few people here should do some self-examination and try to understand why this is so important to them.

While Zbo as a person exercised poor judgement at times, Zbo the basketball player is one of my favorite and one of the best at a dying skill set. He seems to be one of the few power forwards who still enjoying playing near the basket and are good at it. He has a variety of post moves, can get his shot off with more skill than athleticism against bigger players, and has exceptional positioning and timing while rebounding. While I recognize that LMA is great at the mid range shot, I hate that he takes so many of them. Being a long time Blazer fan I grew with power forwards like Lucas and Buck. Player who pounded down low around the basketball. When motivated Zbo was also in that mold.

Is Noah like that? No. Can Noah become that? He's more athletic than Zbo, seems raw but has some great instincts.

Does Karl Malone have a basketball camp? I would send him there.

Exactly. I think most everyone here welcomes debate. It's just when it crosses the line to shit talking it becomes less honorable/welcomed.
