By awful, I presume he was referring to Boban's complete inability to guard anyone more than 6 feet from the basket. Draw him out from under the basket on defense and he's a huge liability in today's NBA with so many big men able to knock down an open 3-pointer.

Boban is the most lumbering person I've ever seen on a basketball court.

Love Boban. One of my favourite Serbs (there is no many of them to be fair).

Boban is sort of the anti-Meyers. With Boban, his slowness is purely physical. Getting that huge body moving in the right direction is like turning an aircraft carrier. His brain knows what to do. Getting his body to cooperate is the problem.

With Meyer's he has the physical ability to move faster, it's his brain that gets in the way. It's his reaction time, not his physical slowness (for his size) that limits him. Go back and watch him running the floor and blocking shots his rookie year. He was playing out of control most of the time, but at least he was doing something. Now his brain needs to slowly run through a mental checklist to decide what he's supposed to do before he does it, and against NBA caliber athletes, there is no time for such indecision.

Edit: I didn't mean that as too much of a condemnation on Meyers. He has been playing better in a much more limited role this season. Of course, his play doesn't warrant his contract, but that's Summer of 16 sunk cost. If he can give us an occasional 4 or 5 productive minutes when Ed and Nurk are in foul trouble, that's all you really expect from a 3-string center.

Speaking of...I thought it was very strange that Tater didn't sub Meyers for Ed when Boban entered the game for the second time last night. If there is EVER a time Meyers deserves PT it's against Boban. What made it more confounding was the fact Ed was in foul trouble, and ultimately fouled out...in the 3rd quarter!

Agreed. For that matter I thought Meyers would go in when Nurk came out in the first quarter. Was he just jacking Meyers around?

Didn’t Nurk just come in when Davis fouled out? He wasn’t in foul trouble by that point and sat more than usual in the first when he was.

IIRC Davis came in early for Nurk. I was surprised because I expected a repeat of the previous game strategy. But that's not the Stotts way I guess.

Meyers hasn’t earned minutes, especially not late in games. At the end of the day Stotts will go with who he trusts. He has no reason to trust Meyers. Six years is a lot larger sample size than whatever he’s done this season.

The Papagiannis signing has implications for Leonard imo. If Leonard is still on the roster, he’ll be the last guy on the depth chart.

But it’s in everyone’s best interest to part ways. How, I don’t know. But if he stays he will waste another two years of his career. An NBA team may not give him another opportunity, but I guarantee there would be teams in Europe willing to pay him good money. He could live the good life getting paid millions, jacking up threes, while living in Spain, Greece, or Italy. He seems like the type of guy that isn’t married to the game anyway. Europe would appeal to him (his wife)

During the game, I kept comparing him to Meyers Leonard. Boban is 2-3 inches taller (gotta be 7-4, not 7-3), and much wider than Leonard (barrel-chested, though arm muscles are the same). His height makes up for lumbering lack of quickness, at least while in the paint.
