So Batum has defense at the 3 but not at the two While he can guard some of the best point guards in the NBA?
It's not suggesting dealing a fan favorite. It's suggesting to trade for a terrible player the Celtics are literally trying to give away.
IMO, the Blazers proved they had a terrific starting 5 last season. The bench was better than the season before, but still not good enough. The starters played big minutes and won lots of games early on. Then they seemed to run out of gas and the bench was exposed. I don't believe it makes sense to break up the starting unit, but rather to beef up the bench. To do that, it may take two seasons, but I would give Neil the benefit of the doubt. There's the MLE and BAE this season and then MLE and draft picks next. BAE can land you a guy like Belinelli or Nate Robinson. MLE can land you two guys like that or a really good bench player. I'd try to sign Mo Williams so you don't lose depth, but are adding to it. I think Wes is a really good SG and if you trade him you might be looking for a guy as good for several years to come. Batum has a unique skill set that would be hard to replace. It's also not like trading baseball cards to move players. They're human beings who are radically affected by being forced to move to another city. They're also friends with the staff and rest of the players and would likely be missed.
Repped for being the voice of reason. You don't break up a team that is getting better. You add to it and build on that success. Our starting five is awesome, and will only get better with another season together. Improve the defensive schemes, let the young guys continue to develop and bolster the bench - especially the latter. Robinson, Barton and McCollum all still have untapped potential, and after winning 54 games and making the second round, reasonably priced vets will view Portland as a desirable destination.
Is this your go to everytime someone calls you out for one of your 10,000 asinine trades? If you're going to get a starter, at least be smart about it.
No you're not. If you were truly sorry, you'd learn from your mistakes and stop repeating them. Have a nice day. BNM
