Page 3 I still have high hopes on Childress above any other choices we have. We need someone like him to fill that 3 spot. Bron and Childress would be a great pair for years to come. Next MJ/Scottie? Who knows.
here's how i view our team, bear with me this is a MONSTER post: if we draft Livingston (my guy)- i see this as our future lineup: 1-shaun/mcinnis 2-wagner 3-bron 4-booz 5-Z/diop we hav two big bodies in the post, 1 of which is a shotblocking machine, we have the best 3 in the league, a huge pg who can dish it great, and a 2 guard that can just flat out score. whoever we have comin off the bench will be from free agency or future drafts, but once this clan gets rollin we wont be gettin much from the draft! and the best part about this squad- starting next yr: shaun-19, wags-22, bron-20, booz-23, diop-23. youth my friends, and talented youth playin together for awhile. mouth is salivating. however this team will not be significantly better than last yrs team next yr, livingston, wags, and diop all need more time, as does lebron to get to the level he needs to be at for THIS team to work. or.... we draft childress 1-mcinnis till we get somebody else 2-lebron 3-childress 4-booz 5- Z/diop this team would be hosting a playoff series next june in the first round. childress would improve our defense dramatically on the perimeter, and also improve bron's defense by allowing him to take mor chances in the passing lanes where he is most effective. if he shoots as well as he did in college, he would vastly improve our offense as well. he would also make this team solid for yrs. or.... we draft gordon or harris (very similar players imo) 1-mac/gordon or harris 2-bron 3-? 4-same as above 5- again dont like this fit for 2 reasons. 1- both guys are undersized. 2- both have too much of a scorers mentality to play pg for us. to me, they are both slightly less offensive minded than wagner, which we all know is a problem for us. gordon wasnt a pg in college, taliek brown was uconn's pg, harris was a pg who kind of did it all himself at wisconsin, he wont be playin that kind of game in cleveland, though if i had to take either of these guys, theyd make decent 2 guards. problem is, we have 2 of those already. or we take andris biedrins the big guy i dont even need to go through the lineups anymore, basically this guy could be a good pickup for us. however looking longterm i dont like it. the way i see it, every great dynasty must have a great competitor or villain as i see it (ie lakers/celtics, spurs/lakers). for us, that great competitor will be the houston rockets i believe. that said, we wont beat them with our starting center standing 6-11 and weighing 240 as biedrins does. we need to draft a guy this yr that is a big piece of our future lebron dynasty, and if all goes well, this is the last draft we hav to get a lottery talent. another guy im very high on is luke jackson, but the only way we take him is via a trade down, im not kidding when i say he is one of the 5 best offensive talents i watched in college bball this past yr, awesome scorer and shooter, not a great defender. andre iguodala would also do wonders for our defense, but nothing for our offense, we need a guy that can do both. my conclusion: livingston or childress are my guys. those 2 guys i think are our best fits here. i would go so far as to offer our first rounder this yr plus either wagner or our 1st rounder next yr to get either one of them. i wouldnt offer diop becuz i believe he will be tremendous once actually given a legitimate chance to establish some type of night to night rhythm, cuz theres no doubt he has talent that has yet to be unleashed.
I have read too many reports that Telfair is all hype and less game. If he grew up in any other area, he would have never received the pub he is getting. Can't remember who wrote it, but someone mentioned that he would be lucky to be chosen in the first round except for the fact that he has probably been guaranteed a spot by some team if he falls.
^He is not Hype he scored 36 a game in high school so he apparently is good. I have been following him since he was in 8th grade and he is by no means "hyped up". it will take time for him to be good but he will be good soon enough. And also polarbear< the cavs will not get rid of Jeff he is a huge contributer to the cavs and the key to future success
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He is not Hype he scored 36 a game in high school so he apparently is good.</div> Thats not that much. He averaged 33.2 this season, and broke the city scoring record. He had a couple 50 point games.
Most of the reason's people don't want Telfair here is this: -he is inexperienced -he is undersized -he lacks a consistant jumpshot -they believe NY just hyped him up too much than he is worth. My conclusions: -he is inexperienced -so was LeBron -he is undersized -He is 18 and will eventually grow a few inches. -he lacks a consistant jumpshot -They said the same thing about LeBron. -they believe NY just hyped him up too much than he is worth. -Players get hype for a reason. And that reason is because he has skills. Am I a Telfair fan? Yes. Do I think he is the real deal? Yes. Would I like Telfair to play here in Cleveland? Yes. Do the Cavs need him? No. The Cavs already have a great point guard in McInnis and all we need is a backup. With all the hype that Telfair is recieving, he should go somewhere to be a star to live up to that hype. Our main priority at this time is a wingman. And that wingman is Josh Childress.

Im willing to be that there is probably a good possabilty that he does. Kobe grew an inch since he was drafted, KG did also.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr_Infante:</div><div class="quote_post">Our main priority at this time is a wingman. And that wingman is Josh Childress.</div> I agree, although there are whispers Cleveland want a point guard. Obviously 10 is too high for Telfair. A few mocks have Nelson going to Cleveland, although I think that's a bit of a stretch. Devin Harris' stock fell after he was beaten in a workout by Roko Ukic recently too, maybe he slips to 10 and past Toronto?
^ According to the Akron Beacon Journal (I didn't get the full story because it requires registration), Cleveland want Livingston, Gordon or Harris. If all three are taken, then don't be surprised if the Cavs take Jameer Nelson according to one source. I had heard they didn't like Nelson originally?
From what I have read, The Cavs feel that Nelson will be another "bust". With those remarks I'm not quit sure why they would want that again. Trajon Langdon, DeSegana Diop, Dajuan Wagner, have all been bust picks. The chain might be relinked with Nelson getting picked. I want a definate STAR to be picked. A player that just shouts "improvement" every year.

A player that just shouts "improvement" every year.</div> Fair enough, although with this year's draft there's no guarantee you're going to get a star, or even a successful player, with the number 10 pick (well that's true every year, but this year's draft is lacking 'sure thing' prospects). The players you have mentioned all had high risk tags on them; Diop was a HS center with a huge emphasis on potential and raw physical attributes, Wagner was a shooting guard in a point guard's body and Langdon was widely acknowledged to be coming out too early, and really benefitted from playing on that Duke team. Nelson on the other hand is a reigning player of the year, a four year college player who was the team leader of one of the most successful college outfits in history (albeit against weaker opposition). I don't think he would be nearly as risky as the aforementioned three. But you're right, 10 may be a bit high for him.
My opinion is Harris, Gordan, Livingston, and Childress are all taken by the time we get our pick. Harris at #8 to the Raptors, Livingston at #2 to the Clippers, Gordan at #6 to the Hawks, and some people have Childress at #4 to the Bobcats, which I sort of agree with. Josh Smith seems to be the one I think will be our pick. SF is a main priority of our team. Newble isn't protected, Eric Williams is a FA I think which doesn't leave us to much. I bet if Josh Smith is available by the time the Cavs pick, I don't see them passing up on him. 'Bron and Smith at the 2 and 3 would be a great thing I think. Although, if anyone of Harris, Gordan, Shaun, and Childress are available, I don't think the Cavs would pass on them either. Telfair, in my opinion, right now, is not ready for the NBA. As many mentioned, lacks height, experience, a good jumpshot, and he was too hyped. I am a Telfair fan. I am also a Louisville Cardinals fan and it would have been great to see him play under Pitino and learn to play with his height. TJ Ford did the smart thing and went to college for a couple years, Telfair should have done the same. Both are undersized PG's. Jameer I think will also be a bust in the NBA, but hey, I could be wrong. I think at pick #10, it's too high for either Telfair or Jameer. Our pick, I think, is Josh Smith
Im not sure if the Cavaliers want another highschooler on the squad. Smith isn't a defined player but still has alot of upside. I believe Silas wants a college kid to come in that has already had the experience of team chemistry. Highschool ball lacks competition and the Cavs want a competitor. Im not trying to knock JSmith at all. I believe he will be great in a Cavs uni, but from what I hear he is not even considered an option.
Well hey, maybe it could be a surprise pick. I mean that's the thing that makes this draft so great. I expect so many surprises in this draft. It's almost an unpredictable draft. Some players can be picked high, and some can drop down out of the lottery. Smith, though, used to be ranked very high, he was mocked at #6 at one time to the Hawks, but I really don't see him going there. Telfair hasn't been to college so he might lack team chemistry as well. The only 2 choices I see coming to us is Childress and Smith. Both are good SF's. If Harris falls, I say he's our #1 choice. I just don't see him falling. I see him going to Toronto. Toronto has 2 choices, grab Harris, a PG they need, or grab a big man, because Bosh is just too skinny.
Devin Harris has been extremely poor in his draft workouts, and was recently torched by Jameer Nelson in front of the Raptors. If Gordon goes top seven, don't be surprised to see the Raps take Nelson at eight and Harris falling to the Cavs. Another option is Luke Jackson, who has been smoking in workouts and has pushed his way into the lottery. Word is Washington will take either Deng or Childress at the five, unless both are gone, which means Jackson could be the perfect fit in Cleveland. Great shooter, can play the two and allow LJ to move to the three permanently.
I want anyone but Jameer Nelson, because we need a combo guard, or a good shooter off the bench. Besides, we wouldn't need Nelson in the future. I really really want Gordon
^Gordon will not drop to ten and I can guarantee that. Wishful thinking... I still hate the fact that people still hate on Jameer Nelson. I guess turning around a talentless team into contenders and winning the player of the year don't mean jack. No matter what size he is you can't doubt his heart and ability to play this game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bez Koske:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd get Jameer Nelson.</div> Me too. That's who I've heard they're thinking about, although he might be taken by pick 10
