well normally the criteria is winning 6 games which is a .500 record. But that only means a team is bowl eligible, not that a bowl will select them. the Beavs have had 3 of their 4 games 'at home' so that's been an advantage for them. But their last two games are @Utah and @Stanford. Certainly, both games are winnable, neither opponent is that good this year but both of those teams have been slammed by Covid absences and appear to be getting more players healthy. And the Beavs can't count on both opponents cooperating as well as the Ducks did last night I doubt a 3-3 Pac-12 team will get a bowl invite, especially since the rumors are several regular bowl games may just cancel their bowls this year. It's too big a financial risk for many; and what makes it riskier is the possibility of a last minute cancellation by a team because of a Covid outbreak. A 3-3 Pac-12 team would probably be competing with several 5-5 and 6-6 teams. Now maybe, some teams will refuse an invite. Going to a bowl game is expensive and without full ticket sales, the ledger could be too far into the red a 4-2 Beavs team? maybe yeah, they could get a bowl game. 2020 seems like such a lost cause in so many ways. Bowl games may be one of those lost causes
I'm a duck fan and the game was fun to watch. I enjoy competitive games. The recent blowouts were boring to watch. And the Ducks losing isn't the end of the world. They weren't going to do anything this year anyways with half the starters on defense sitting out the season and our entire offensive line leaving too.
if the Ducks win their 2 remaining games, they will play in the Pac-12 championship game. And then a bowl game. So they do have a lot to play for: winning a 2nd straight conference title and a bowl game while finishing the season 7-1 that's a real tall order considering their holes on defense and a completely rebuilt OLine, but it is a worthy goal
I know with Cristobal are lines have gotten bigger, but our defensive line last night seemed very slow more so than the previous games. Maybe they ate to much the day before!
the DLine is getting almost no penetration. This season they are averaging 1 sack and 4 tackles for loss, Last season, they averaged 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. More importantly is that they consistently collapsed the pocket last season and got steady pressure on opposing QB's. this season, nada now, they have been battling Covid issues. But while everybody was focused on their losses in the secondary, the Ducks may have lost a lot more on the DLine. Gone are Gus Cumberlander, Gary Baker, Drayton Carlberg, Bryson Young, and Sione Kava. And Troy Dye was an excellent blitzing LB; and Jevon Holland and Brady Breeze were good blitzing safeties a team really needs to have strong upper-classmen on the DLine. Ducks are lacking. Meanwhile, all the young LB's and safeties are having lots of trouble filling the right gaps
Back after a year absence to say #GoBeavs. If you’re from Oregon but have no ties to the quack or the beavs but root for the ducks you’re just as bad as a laker fan who grew up in Portland. There’s still time to change if you want to find your moral compass.
First in years I haven't watched and ofcourse the Beavers finally win. That said its just not the same.
Yeah, it was the weirdest civil war I've watched. The crowd is half the fun for rivalry games and the announcers and refs we're pretty garbage. The actual game was good though, especially as an OSU alum.
