    Games CJ has missed:

This year: Home against Phoenix (7-31 on the road)

This year: Home against Indiana (17-20 on the road)

This year: Home against Dallas (7-30 on the road)

This year: Home against Detroit (14-23 on the road)

Last year: Away against Phoenix (10-31 at home)

The other two games he missed were the last two games of the 2016-2017 season when we (and the competition) were resting players, and Dame didn't play either, so to include those games in your "analysis" is disingenuous at best.

I get that you're deeply invested on this important subject, as evidenced by a new post every ten minutes, but you're really grasping at straws with this one given the sample size/circumstances. It shows a certain desperation and puts your entire argument into question.

Lol barton and withey were trash at that time, withey still a no name without a team. And crabbe was obviously to safe Allens money, Connaughton was drafted by brooklyn, not by Portland. Oh yeah Aminu, it was probably just a coincidence that he signed him back in Portland. Neil loves his rookies too much and overpaid all in 2016, hopefully he changed

Wins are wins. If you want to minimize them to fit your narrative go ahead. Next time I’ll let CJ know to only miss games against elite teams.

Sure, I mentioned it the other day as well. Stotts, along with other coaches in the NBA like to leave the rotation intact and bring another player off the bench rather than changing things up too much so that when CJ comes back it's as simple as taking Jake out and plugging McCollum back in. If Hood were to start it would be 2 changes by moving Hood back to the second unit. Agree or disagree isn't really the point on this philosophy as their are arguments to be made both ways but it's not uncommon for NBA coaches to follow the same philosophy as Stotts has implemented.

There was no minimizing anything. He simply pointed out some facts. Sure wins are wins, but do you consider a win against the Warriors equivalent in relevance to a win over the Suns?

So you are suggesting we are better without CJ then?

I wasn't aware I had a narrative. Thank you for letting me know.

I have felt for a while that I would like to convert CJ into a position that would be more beneficial.

    Small forward.

We have plenty of players that can fill at two guard and I would rather have Dame handling the ball.

Edit - and by "convert" I mean do a trade that brings back an equal talent at SF.

I agree, problem is what’s an equal talent SF? We obviously aren’t taking about LeBron, KD, Kawhi, PG, or Giannis. So who? Butler? Tobias Harris? Middleton? Hayward? Or maybe a young guy? Tatum? Siakam? It’s just not a great market for SFs currently.

The targets have been out there. Neil just hasn't either tried or hasn't been able to close.

    Paul George. Kawhi.

My gut says he didn't want to trade CJ because there was a the possibility that they would leave.

yeah...there has been plenty of 'reporting' that whenever Olshey has engaged teams in discussions for those elite players he's held CJ "untouchable". That's pretty easy to believe, and of course since Portland has had such unimpressive assets outside of Dame & CJ, that has to have made Portland's hand fairly weak

I don’t think San Antonio had any interest in trading Kawhi to a western team. Also, OKC just had a better package than us, though in hindsight we should’ve offered CJ.

I really don't think they did. If we had offered CJ and 3 first round picks, we would have beaten Oladipo (who was coming off a horrible season) and Sabonis.

So the thread about CJ's injury turned into a trade CJ thread?

But we didn’t, sadly. Oh well, hopefully we can find another all star.

Also factor in that word from PG's xamp is he was going to LA when he became free agent. Sure he ended up staying but to lose McCollum and then lose PG would have been devastating. Can you imagine the comments in this forum if we ended up with nothing.

So, is there any update today on CJ's progress? I know it's a weird question in a thread like this.

Back to the OP, do we know anything more yet or just waiting on rehabbing back? The general walkthrough/shooting vid looked promising from last week.

Funny thing is Cj is good as gone when his contract runs up. Dame will definitely be here we all know that but nobody seems to talk about how Cj doesn’t seem like a lifer here at all. Just seems to me he’s going to want his own start and plus we all know he loves the east coast nyc to be specific.

I just think Cj knows rip city doesn’t really appreciate him much for whatever reason and that we should be prepared to trade him
