OT The Death Penalty

My debating style is to use facts and data. That is tough to argue against without bringing facts and data to the table.

With your lack of sharing data, facts, or reason I have no choice but to infer and assume.

And then you try to take it personally since you can't make any headway.

Not using facts or data to support your position is how we got to Trump and January 6th. So I try to attack that sort of thing whenever possible.

 

You have many choices. That's the problem. You refuse to look beyond your numbers. I do.
But you keep on assuming chief.

 

Look beyond the numbers to what? Faith? Rumors? Prejudice?

I'm trying not to assume. I'm asking you to back up your position.

But you keep trying to take it personal...

 

No one is taking anything personal. You are simply incapable of understanding and accepting that someone can disagree with you and believe your numbers do not directly reflect our country.
You cannot accept that some people disagree with you. If you know you are right, then just consider me wrong and move on. Its not that hard to do.

 

I'm fine with people disagreeing with me. But when a person starts a thread and specifically tags me to discuss it, I assume they want a discussion. Why else start the thread? Is this thread not about debating our judicial system and what rights and responsibilities they should and should not have? Should we make another thread?

If not, I'm simply asking what data, facts, or reason do you have for thinking Americans would respond differently to German style rehab than Germans?

What is different about America that we should lock up 600% more than our fair share of prisoners compared to the rest of the world?

I explained why it seemed like you wanted to discuss this, and that's fine. I'm game.

I asked some fairly simple questions and you just sidestepped them again, trying to move the focus to something else.

You can stop responding any time, but if you're going to respond please at least try to answer the questions.

I've read the thread and am not finding answers other than basically, just because it makes you feel better.

The poll supports my statement that people in this country support illogical things that make them feel better.

I don't trust the government to kill citizens.

 

He is guilty. I don't care if he lives or dies. Makes no difference in my life, as long as he isn't free to harm another innocent person.

And if we allow government to kill people we know are guilty they will kill people we don't know are guilty as well, including some who are innocent.

Every government who has ever had the power to execute prisoners has executed innocent people.

Every. Single. One.
