We need a PF. That should be priority #1.

No idea. If I had a tank I would definitely be using it to pick up chicks though.

Yes, you have mentioned fucking the thing that has got us our best players after missing the playoffs, sans Drexler.

Walton, LMA, Roy, for some of you, Dame, CJ

I'm all over being stoked about the draft. But not until after the season ends. Screw rooting to lose.

It's technically rooting to win in the long run. That counts, I think?

It's basically asking: what would you rather have? :

A real chance at a top 5 pick in a strong draft, a guy who might be an all-star who will earn pennies in his first 4 seasons.
    OR
4-5 more games after the season ends.

How do you figure that there's a "real chance at a top 5 pick"? As of today, the Blazers have the 12th pick and probably only a realistic shot at Dallas passing them. I don't see the Hornets or Timberwolves making up two games on the Blazers given the favorable schedule they have after this road trip. So, let's say they end up with the 11th worst record. The odds of the 11th pick winning one of the top 3 picks in the lotto are less than three out of 100. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_draft_lottery

Even if an intentional tank job were put in place by Blazers management, you can't lose faster than the teams that are already tanking below the Blazers. In all realistic likelihood, all of these endless threads on tanking are only talking about the difference between getting the 11th pick vs. 14th or 15th. If Olshey really wants to move up three or four spaces, he has enough assets to make that happen.

There are good reasons why teams only really tank after their chances of making the playoffs are mathematically eliminated. Winning is too important to coaches and players who have to think about that next contract. Playing in the playoffs is where players' reps are made. Asking them to willingly lose just to gain a couple of draft spots? That's going to brand a franchise as a loser outfit for years.

As long as we are getting Vonleh, Harkless, Leonard and Nurkic minutes I'm good with whatever happens. I don't disagree with MM's desire for the draft at all. But, if you put the youngsters out and they win then I can live with that.

I would be pissed if we got playoff fever though and benched Vonleh and Biebs just to win a game or two.

If we need a PF, and we are looking at the Draft, we don't necessarily need to be in the top 10. Even if we are able to sneak into the playoffs we likely will have the #15 pick. There are only 2 PF's ranked in the top 14 right now, Markkanen (#7) and Robert Williams (#10). There is also Miles Bridges but a 6'6" SF/PF is not what we need. Once we get to #15 there is quite a selection of bigs.

    #15 John Collins
    #16 Justin Patton
    #17 Isaiah Hartenstein

Currently the Memphis pick is sitting at #19 and around that pick there is
    #22 Ivan Rabb
    #23 Tyler Lyndon
    #24 Johnathon Motley
    #25 Harry Giles
    #26 TJ Leaf

Then we have #27 from Cleveland

    #27 Bam Abedayo
    #29 Caleb Swanigan

In my mind we likely are going to be using the draft to reload reserves freeing up assets like Crabbe, Davis and Leonard to be used to potentially upgrade the PF position via trade.

    I didn't say top 3 pick, i said top 5 pick.
Read some more on the wiki page you posted. Here are teams who actually won the lottery with relatively small chances of doing so:

1993 - Magic win the lotto with 1.5% chance of winning it.
1995 - GSW win the lotto with 9.4% chance of winning it.
2000 - Nets win the lotto with 4.4% chance of winning it.
2002- Rockets win the lotto with 8.9% chance of winning it.
2005 - Bucks win the lotto with 6.3% chance of winning it.
2006 - Craptors win the lotto with 8.8% chance of winning it.
2007 - Blazers win the lotto with 5.3% chance of winning it.
2008- Bulls win the lotto with 1.7% chance of winning it.
2011 - Cavs win the lotto with 2.8% chance of winning it.
2014 - Cavs win the lotto with 1.7% chance of winning it.

    So what did we learn:

    A. Plenty of teams have won the lottery when the odds were clearly against them, getting a top 5 pick with the 11th place is not out of the realm of possibility.
    B. The NBA is fixed.

I don't think you can tell any of the players\coaches to tank, none of them want to end this season with a big "Fail" mark labeled on top of it.
I'm just saying that as a fan, i don't see the point of winning right now. They failed, they are a bottom 10 team and changes need to be made.

Only the top 3 picks are in play in the current lottery system. The chances of moving up from the number 11 spot are less than 3 in a hundred.

With 15 more games, we can definitely stink enough to get #13 seed, that's 6.3% chance for ya.

Come on Lillard! learn from D-Wade and Chris Paul and pull some ~"season ending injury"~ out of your ass.

    My ideal draft:

POR and MEM picks (+?) to LA for Randle

    CLE pick reach: Jonathan Jeanne
    Second round buy: Ethan Happ

I still like Collins/Williams/Bridges but Randle is ready now and is still very young.
