So what other teams could make sense?
Toronto, doubt he want to imitate Kawhi. Cleveland, no way he is going to follow LeBron. So that leaves:

    Chicago
    Atlanta
    Charlotte
    Memphis
    New Orleans
    Minnesota
    Utah
    Portland

I'd say these are the teams Durant could end up possibly going to. Refreshing this isn't a list of glamor markets as we usually see.

Chicago is Jordan land. No chance he goes there.

So he needs a two time reigning MVP to win? Then Jokic gets more credit, I don't see it.

Good point, agreed. So that would leave:

    Atlanta
    Charlotte
    Memphis
    New Orleans
    Minnesota
    Utah
    Portland

    He's not a free agent.

Yeah but the bottom line is they have never won it and no one on the team has ever made it to the finals. So I also think you need to add Denver from KD's point of view. But unless Denver would agree to include Murray, would the Nets want to do it?

I could see Utah. Succeeding where Stockton and Malone failed.

I don’t see him going to Minny. That place is a shit show.

New Orleans has the talent but it almost feels like he would just be another cast member. Especially if Zion comes back.

    I’d say one of these
    Atlanta
    Charlotte
    Portland
    Utah
    Memphis.

Which of those has the best supporting cast? Which of these would win a ring?

    Dame
    Durant
    Grant

    Trey
    Durant
    Collins

    Ja
    Durant
    ???

    Mitchell
    Durant
Gobert (not sure if he’s still there though)

    Ball
    Durant
    Bridges

I think Durant should go to Kentucky for a year but not play for them.

    Then we can draft him!

Sure, but teams aren't going to give up a ton of assets if Durant doesn't buy in.

Utah is probably the best trio if they can keep Gobert. I don't see him wanting to cover Trade and Collins D in Atlanta. Charlotte seems to young, possibly Memphis too.

When you break it down like this Portland seems like a real appealing option.

I still think most likely the Nets figure a way to run it back, but if not it's certainly a very real possibility. Dame and Nurk tweets mean a lot IMO. They aren't going to throw those out publicly without having some idea of Durant's mindset.

We would just draft a big center instead though…

Had he had any ACL blowouts? Was Harden a top 5 player when the Nets acquired him?

One big issue is the possible sale of the team, what does a possible buyer think about "mortgaging (or mortgaged) the future" of a team they might want to buy? My guess is in that regard it makes going after Durant less likely

I don't think Utah has anything to offer if they keep Gobert and Mitchell to form that trio.

It will all come down to Kyrie. Will the Nets get assets if they trade him and how will those assets affect what they
trade Durant for. Or will Kyrie opt out and take less to go to the team of his choice. That would help open up some cap space for the Nets.

Let's think - OKC and Durant... why does that seem familiar?

Also: OKC is smart enough to know that you build a winner incrementally, like Golden State, Boston, Phoenix (they got CP3 but not by gutting the roster), and not like these sad teams like Philly and Brooklyn that keep trying to steal aging stars from other teams.

Based on who is rumored to buy the team, I doubt they care.

That’s true but you still have to try! Imagine if we got Durant. The Blazers vs. GSW in the western conference finals would be like Blazers vs. Lakers in 2000. What a great story that would be for the NBA.

I don't think they would take that when they can have Ant. I actually think it's an underpay. I think they'd want the below deal and we should do it, with the three swaps:

The nets could get AD or Jimmy Butler or many superstars for KD....why would they want Nas and Bledsoe? He's not coming here. Stick a fork in that rumor...it's done.
