Could be a speculator just throwing big bucks on a guess. Or it could be people(s) with knowledge doing the same.
Would you guys trade Sharpe for Mikal Bridges? I'm kind of thinking that if the Suns are ready to ship out Bridges and Ayton for Durant, maybe we can slide it to grab Mikal, who is one of Dame's favorite players in the NBA. Any chance the nets would prefer Sharpe, a future first, and Keon to Mikal Bridges? I'm not sure that Bridges makes a ton of sense next to Ayton and Simmons. Hell of a defense but not a lot of scoring there. This lineup would depend on Dame and Ant to score like mad, but it would be balanced and tough. Lillard/Ant Ant/Hart Bridges/Little Grant/Winslow Nurkic/Bamba
No I wound not. That lineup with Bridges isnt a contender. We probably aren't with Sharpe either, but there is a small chance we might be. I'd rather gamble with Sharpe then take the known solid man in Bridges.
I really don't see how Phoenix has anything appealing to Brooklyn. Ayton.... Bridges...... that's a big meh if you're rebuilding. Simmons/Ayton/Bridges is not really a solid core to build around imo.
I think that team is the best Blazer team since 99/2000, but to each their own. I think we'd be a top 5 team, which gives you a puncher's chance at a title. Which teams do you think are better than that lineup?
They are both better players or prospects than Simons/Sharpe. If Phoenix gives up a ton of picks too.... that offer clearly has more value IMO than what we've discussed from Portland.
You think so? Bridges is 25 and his numbers are pretty pedestrian. And there's a reason why Phoenix hasn't been running to the table to sign Ayton to a max deal. Plus, any picks from them have a low chance of being any good any time soon. Booker is still only 25 years old. So even if the Paul/Booker/Durant trio doesn't work, they still have a very young stud player to continue to build around. If the Blazers traded Simons/Sharpe and a bunch of picks, and the Dame/Durant/Grant lineup doesn't work, we're going to be complete trash in a couple years. Bottom of the league. Top 4 pick territory. Those picks could be worth a lot, and with Brooklyn trading away so many of their picks for Harden, they will be needing some decent picks.
You make a good argument on the picks. I'd say that perhaps 2027 and 2029 picks are so far out it almost doesn't matter what the rosters look like or that they have Booker. The reason I think the Phoenix offer would trump Portland is because Ayton and Bridges are worth much more than Simons and Sharpe. Yes Ayton might be overpaid; but same would probably go for Ant.
Sharpe might turn out to be Ben McLemore II. But he could also turn out to be Ray Allen or Devin Booker. And if he is, you really want to swap him for possibly 2 years of rapidly declining Durant?
Shams says Kyrie is going to opt and and stay in Brooklyn for the year. Oh what a suprise that was... y'all told me he was gonna pass on 37 million.
Kyrie can still get traded by the deadline, and will have more leverage in dictating destinations then by saying he will only sign long term to particular teams. But the Durant stuff is done. Guess Vegas made some more money today.
Well, that ends that. I'm gonna bet Low Joe (I'm calling him that now because he both buys and sells low) didn't spend much time on that anyway. I have a feeling he has something brewing for that starting 3 spot because he didn't sound like he was done for the offseason in that presser, not by a long stretch. He's looking to make one more splash. I guess we'll see... really soon.
Yeah, I'm sure Sean Marks was like, "Um, sure Kyrie why don't you go out and look for a sign and trade that will get you anything close to 37M next season and then get back to me." A day later we get this news. I feel like we're going to get a quieter Kyrie this season that's all about ballin because his next contract will be lucky if it sniffs 20M per season if he keeps on causing his team headaches and sitting so damn much.
