    Exactly! You use significant figures (decimals) and rounding and 2+2 is not always 4.

    Round is a descriptive, not scientific, term. The earth is indeed round but not a sphere.

    Also, when you add distances of 2 + 2 on a line along a sphere, but measure the total distance on a straight line, 2 + 2 is less than 4.

    In Euclidean geometry, space is curved.
