Understand, this guy has never, ever, never been held accountable for ANYTHING in his life. Ever! And while he should be impeached and imprisoned, stripped of everything he owns, this is white, patriarchal America. White men in positions of power are seldom, if ever held accountable for their misdeeds. We all have seen and heard with our very eyes and ears that Trump is guilty beyond even the most reasonable of doubts. But let’s hold off on the party until he is actually punished. Congress is (also and always has been) too filled with cowards to do the right thing....
Oh, I'm not convicting him. Only the Senate can convict him. I'm just here to say that it now looks likely. Halleluja.
Just remember.....at the end of the day she is still a politician. And her agenda is opposed by a very large hunk of this country (unfortunately).........and it is an agenda that leaves very little room for compromise. I’m rooting for her but she, in her own way, is as triggering as a Cruz, Goetz, Hawley et al. And the deplorables are going to fight her every step of the way for as long as she is in the game. As we have found out this past 4 years, a whole lotta people aren’t interested in the truth........unless it’s truth they want to hear......
I dont know if they have enough Republican votes in the senate to convict him. More and more Republicans are coming over though. He will be impeached by the house and it won't be dealt with in the senate till after Trump leaves office on the 20th
in the end there's a difference: She delivers the truth and they deliver bullshit. It's just that the deliveries might be somewhat similar but not the delivered.
I've heard that there are about 20 Republican Senators willing to vote for a conviction of the impeachment and those votes include McConnell. I'll bet McConnell is pissed as hell as he almost certainly is receiving death threats for him and his wife.
He is being punished. The extent of the punishment is still to be determined. The republican party is beginning to turn on him. He lost PGA. Banks are done with him. Deutche bank looks to be trying to take his properties to pay for massive loans he has out. He is being impeached for the 2nd time. Prosecutors are waiting for him to be out of office to go after him for tax fraud among other illegalities. A conviction by the Senate to insure he can't run in 2024 will be icing on the cake.
it's just funny how the right vilifies her so much. Like she's some bogeyman, when she says exactly what the MAJORITY of people in this country think. The messaging around her and the narrative the Dems construct for her will be key to her political future. Also, her use of social media has been perfect. She prolly will get as much, if not more exposure/visibility with her IG live yesterday as people speaking on the floor of the House today.
I heard on the news that it takes more than a conviction on an impeachment to bar someone from holding a federal, state or local office. If and only if the person is voted a conviction on an impeachment then and only then can a second, subsequent vote by the Senate be taken to bar that person from public service.
If they have the votes to convict him, they will have the votes to stop him from running in the future. Other GOPs want a chance to run in 2024. The Republicans won't admit it but they fucked up letting Trump take over the party. With his hold over voters no one would get the nomination without his backing. They now need to sever him from the party. They want him gone and his influence gone just as much as the Dems.
It's sad that there are no righties left here to debate with, even @MARIS61 has gone silent. But, truth be told, they weren't very good debaters. They cut and pasted with abandon though! But actually marshaling facts to support an argument? Not so much.
He's impeached by the House...Senate takes it on on the 19th which for them is a gamble because there will be more evidence by then.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that even if the Senate hasn't voted on impeachment yet, since the House voted to impeach him, he no longer has the power to pardon himself or anyone else as it relates to the impeachable offense?
