I heard a democrat explain some of this tonight. I don't know who he was, nor do I know that he speaks for AOC. But he did offer some
corrections, his or hers, I don't know but here it is.

Correction, we will not stop using fossil fuels, the correction is we will still use them but we will make them obsolete.

That means Tractors, planes and ships can still work. Even your old car, but you will pay the price for that error.

Ok! this might be possible, but I do not understand the language.

How can fuels actually be obsolete, if even the brightest physicist/engineers can not make a plane fly without the fuels and we still need planes?
I think the same question also applies to Tractors.

I sort of fancy myself as a pretty good engineer, and I just can't come up with a way to make a tractor without fuel on board. An electric cord is just not going to due. A battery would have to be so damn big it would take another tractor to drag it around a large crop field. I had a job when I was 16, driving a D8 cat working a large wheat field in Eastern Oregon. The field was so large it took 13 hr to make the first pass around the outside perimeter of the field. There were 4 D8 Cats working together to plant that field. A tanker truck met us at the appropriate place each day to refuel the Cats and haul us drivers to the shower. I can replace the drivers with an autopilot , GPS and simple robot, but replacing the fuel is much more difficult.

 

I voted for a gas tax to fix local roads...problem is there aren't many local roads compared to the hiway that runs through town full of sink holes...I attended a town hall meeting to talk about it and while they were bragging about the gas tax I mentioned that the roads to all the gas stations were still full of holes....at the school I worked at there were certain people who loved to waste money and particularly paper..reams of it...and post its...etc...pens...they'd go through a paper mill in a semester for really nothing. Supply officer said she just loved spending other people's money....I stopped voting for taxes

Years ago I was driving a chemical tanker truck with a drum boot on the back end for the company I worked for and was making a delivery of a drum of lacquer thinner to a customer that I had done several times before. I pulled into their back lot where the drum gets delivered and parked it
and went inside to get someone to approve the delivery. When I came back out the back end of my truck was sitting in a large hole and the frame is what kept the truck from going in even further. I was shocked as I couldn't figure out how I drove into that hole without knowing it. Once we took the time to look it over it was obvious that the under part of the parking lot had given way from the weight of the truck. They had just had the lot paved a week ago and obviously they didn't do a good job of filling in the lot before paving. The hole in your post, although bigger, reminded me of that time.

Anyone else find it difficult to see running a 110KW tractor on a 10 gauge cord? Forget about the short tether.

 

That cord is coming off a spool that seems to be in the front end loader..not coming to the tractor but coming from the spool in the basket
