I have to give this team props but I also believe we got scorers on this team because there very few of them are shy about shooting the ball. But it's not just Dame making this work it's been the whole team contributing that's getting these wins and yes Dame been clutch at the end if games on offense but it's been the defense at the end of games that really been the big factor of these wins. I still believe the offense and defense schemes are god awful you won't change my mind about that. The schemes are supposed make the players have easier time to get open looks on offense and the defense supposed put players in position where they make the opponent have to take difficult shots.

Outstanding take! Championships last one year. Dame lasts a lifetime. And all the youngsters out there are going to have far more pleasure telling their grandkids about the years they got to watch one the transcendent players of several generations consistently break the hearts of opposing teams with uncanny skill, than they will have talking about a championship that may or may not have happened........fans just truly need to appreciate this guy for everything good he brings to Portland

We've seen recently what can happen when Dame isnt Dame, even with Trent scoring. When Dame was out a number of over the years CJ picked up the slack big time. In fact when Dame wasn't on the floor he passed more and pushed the ball which is something this team should do more of. If we trade him they better get someone that can, create, shoot and get to the hoop on occasion. Doesn't matter if its a two / three as I still see Jones as a bench player if he even wants to stay.

Ewing, Barkley, Stockton to Malone just a few that are ICON's even today. Dame has been on record stating ships aren't everything but certainly an important goal.

The Blazers definitely deserve some respect for doing what they did the first half of the season with CJ and Nurk injured. No better way to deliver it than with a little Aretha:

I thought it was the other way around....? no matter

to me, the most persuasive argument here isn't adding up wins and losses, here or there, in games Dame missed. It's that over the last 122 regular season games, when both CJ and Nurkic have missed games at the same time, Portland's record is 22-11. That's a 33 game sample size, and that sample has covered two stretches of game, one of 10 and the other of 23. That's kind of significant. That's winning at a pace of .666 for 55 wins in a season, and that's compared to Portland averaging less than 46 wins in the Dame/CJ era. And by the way, in the balance of those 122 games, when CJ was there, Portland's record was 45-44, and that includes the win when Dame and CJ both sat and Simons played 48 minutes

That's almost all a testament to Dame; his leadership and his talent. And it shows that some of the prevailing assumptions about this team might be wrong

It's kinda like watching Clyde. Clyde had a lot more help though.

Clyde’s been sniffin’ Dame’s dust for several years now. And yes, Clyde had way more help than Dame to this point.

Lol no. Two NBA Finals and a league best record. I don't think so.

You're correct the Blazers record is 17-18 w/out Dame. Since his post said 90/10 credit to Dame, I thought I needed to flip the numbers to stay consistent with his ratio of Dame Credit/Everyone else.

So.....what’s Clyde done for us lately? What uni did he sport when he made the HOF? Two league finals and no rings. That “league best record” didn’t mean shit when they blew home court advantage. And he had way better talent (and coaching) around him. Mentally whipped from the get go by Isaiah Thomas and Michael Jordan when it was all on the line. And then whined about it and made excuses....Clyde had skills but Dame is and always will be the better man. At my age the value of player loyalty to our city and fan base increases exponentially with every passing year. I’d rather be proud of who he is than what he’s wearing on his finger if it has to come right down to it.

I’m not arguing who the better person is. I’m arguing who had the better Blazer career to this point. To claim that is Dame is disingenuous.

And isn't claiming that he's the better player at the same point in his career vs. Dame, and basing that claim on team achievements when he clearly had vastly superior talent surrounding him, just a little bit disingenuous?
