....his top rookie this season is................. Jerryd Bayless. Said that he's going to be a phenominal player, that the PG position is his, and that he will change this Blazers team. Basically, he said. "Look out.." Heh, he just got into a little argument with C-Web saying that Oden is better than Shaq was at this beginning point of their respective careers.
I think GP might be high. Maybe Bayless reminds him of himself or something? I don't doubt Bayless will be good, but this year, TOP ROOKIE?
I think that's exactly what it is. -- Good-sized PG -- From a PAC-10 school -- Nasty streak -- Scoring skills I bet GP sees a lot of himself in Jerryd. Agreed 100%. Hopefully GP is right, though. Can you imagine what a fun year this would be if that is the case? Or at least what an unexpected year it would be? Ed O.
An aggresive defender with a solid three-point shot and ability to penetrate and finish? And the ability to get the offense started and get the ball to Greg (what he still has to learn)? Yeah, that would be pretty nice.
With all due respect to Bayless' talent, he's got a lot to learn about the NBA before we start gushing over him like that.
If Jerryd turns out to be in the same ballpark as the Glove, I am going to add a new wing onto my Pritch-shrine.
I think as long as we don't tag him with the pg label until he earns it, we won't be upset with his output.
Well ... I seem to recall that it took GP a couple of seasons to get into the groove and in his first couple of seasons there were more than a few Sonics fans who wanted to trade his "bum" ass. I only remember since I've always been an Oregon State fan and followed his career.
Bayless made some mistakes tonight, but I was impressed with him. He's very aggressive and very confident. I think he's going to be good.
He was alright but the confidence is the important part to me. We need dudes with some stones to play on this team. Like Rudy. He wanna dunk on your face.
