MM, my impression is that GO wanted a new start, that there were too many bad memories here and he never clicked with Portland, Oregon culture. We weren't going to be able to keep him, so cutting him was just acknowledging a reality.

The fucker I blame the most is Bobby Medina. Who the hell has a player GAIN weight after knee surgery? He should never have been allowed to get over 250-255. Instead, we tried to turn him into Shaq.

We could probably have got Durant plus something for him.

A healthy Oden would have been worth any of the players mentioned, especially assuming a healthy Roy and LA (which was our mindset at the time). It was just bad luck, bad medical advice and shitty trainers. At least we've finally rectified the medical and training issue.

I lived through Walton crumbling in 77-78 (arguably the most dominant Blazer team in franchise history, followed closely by 90-91), and this version of the Frail Blazers stings even more. At least that group won a championship; the Roy/GO/LA version never got started.

Where Oden is concerned, the only watching I want to do is to watch him burned at the stake.

We know the broken patella was a legit, basketball related injury. It is also NOT a career ending injury. The 2 subsequent MF surgeries had nothing to do with basketball, as Oden hadn't been anywhere near a court when these phantom injuries just magically appeared.

    Bull Dada!

Something caused those injuries, and if it wasn't playing basketball, what was it? A brawl in a strip club? A DUI accident that was hushed up? Call me a grumpy old man....but the fact that Oden and the team would never offer any explanation for what was going on smacks of a guilty conscience.

You know that Oden's #1 game next season is against the Blazers in the Rose Garden in front of all the Blazers fans. That game will be something else and possibly bigger than Roy's return to the Rose Garden.

I hope he doesn't end up in Miami or Los Angeles. Anywhere else, and I'll be rooting for him to become the beast I still believe he can be.

Burning at the stake is a tad extreme.

You have to put the whole Oden experience in the "Shit Happens" category.

Of course, shit happens frequently when the Blazers have the number one pick.

And, shit ALWAYS happens when the Blazers pick a center with the number one pick.

    Just sayin'.

Walton was number 1 and so was LaRue Martin.

I guess shit can also dribble down to the number 2 pick for the Blazers if a center is involved.

And he'd be the first to correct you if you labeled him a center.

Larue Martin was #2. Not as in #2 pick, but as in poop.
