Yeah, because we totally needed another Olshey thread. I didn't start a "Stotts sucks" thread every day.

In two years he'll be eligible for social security and medicare....and he's already wealthy...retirement is wonderful...people who tell you it's not are lying or have no interests

If the word bland was a human being, its name would be Terry Stotts.

I have no issue with the Billups hire, he could be great, who knows. I'm confident, with minimal roster moves, we will not be getting past the WCF with Billups either.

My issue with Olshey has always been his ability to put together a contending roster, which I have long contended requires multiple all-stars. He lost LMA for nothing, and now he's got Dame on the ropes as well. This entire process has been a disaster, his moves appear to be based out of self-peservation and getting 2 more years instead of 1 before he's fired.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong, Dame will calm down (I expect this), and he'll surround him with a real contending roster, but I'm not betting on it.

True, I forgot who we’re dealing with here. His biggest day of the week is probably something like new book release day at the Lake Oswego Public Library.

Udoka was my first choice because of the Portland ties. A Boston friend told me they wanted Chauncey bad, but because of his relationship with Neil, Chauncey was Portland's to lose. So they jumped on Udoka.

    I stand corrected:

There still are plenty of people who are holding out hope, against all logic, that Olshey can lead us to the promise land.

    I hope they're right.

Olshey is the type of guy who will stand up and flip off the crowd with both barrels, then head to Morton’s in a private room after the game and tell his rich buddies what a bunch of small town dipshits we all are.

Meanwhile Stotts will be at Applebee’s with his wife eating the 2 for $20 deal he saw on the TV.

He and Jan are raising purebred showdogs I think....he'll probably be parading some lapdog on a leash with a number on it's collar...I forget what breed...he's also got a mansion and a wife who likes to go to rock concerts...you probably don't know it but I'm a huge Stotts fan....I want to see him retire in Portland...I also get the impression he's done with the grind

Ime's resume on paper is far better than Billups; not sure if that translates or not. If I had to pick one, I would pick Ime because we wouldn't be in the middle of this s-storm right now as well, but I have no issue with Billups. Certainly I will be called an apologist for him in the future when I'm saying he's not the main problem.

I have nothing against him at all. He seems like a very decent person.

I think almost everyone agrees it was time to move on from him as a coach and Billups’ personality, other than both being universally liked in NBA circles (Twitter Drama People aside), is a 180 from the stoic demeanor of Stotts. Chauncey is a very intense personality who isn’t going to let things slide. If Dame truly is in his corner, that alone could be worth 5-7 regular season wins.

I’m not a fan of Neil but we’re all acting like we know all these incredible deals he passed up.

does anyone know of any he passed on?

I’m can think of the PG trade and not involving CJ. Any others?

The reason I didn’t want Ime, and it has nothing to do with his coaching, is his stoic demeanor is too similar to Stott IMO. My belief is this team needed an attack dog personality to shake off the old complacent bad habits, and wow did they get one!

I think "calm demeanor" is the most used descriptor of Billups personality.

I'm on record that you can hold people accountable while being calm, but I know some feel it requires calling out your players in the media. I don't suspect Billups will be that guy though.

He passed on Lamarcus after the buyout and turns out that was the right move...maybe Blake Griffin as well I'm not sure
