There wont be any trades... we just won two in a row. we are playoff bound!!! LOL OKay on the serious, there wont be any trades. Hendo wongt be traded. Kaman wont be traded. no one will have a need for Kaman at his salary. He is still more valuable to us as a player/coach than any other team in the league. Hendo isnt being traded, because we dont yet know if he can become a solid guy off the bench...6th man. He was injured early, so we couldnt evaluate. He is just not hitting a game stride and I dont think he gets moved until we see how he fits with the team. No moves until after the season unless a team gets REALLY stupid and offers us a large lopsided trade.
The two are $11M expiring contracts, combined. Whoever wants to trade for an expiring would simply be better off giving the Blazers a player for cap space. The premise of trading the two seems a bit absurd. Maybe some team wants Hendo now and to re-sign him. Or they can wait until the summer and sign him as a UFA (more likely, IMO).
Yeah, Singler is one of the worst players in the NBA and his contract goes until 2020. I really don't understand why he got that deal.
Rather than targeting a fringe Playoff team that needs a boost, I wonder if it's more realistic to use them as a salary dump. I just don't see a team thinking that Henderson or Kaman are the missing piece that will put them over the top. And while everyone says that all teams will have massive cap space next summer due to the increasing cap, that's not entirely true. CLE, LAC, HOU have $77M< committed to next season. HOU is really sucking and going nowhere fast. Will HOU finally pull the plug on Howard/Harden? Henderson/Kaman for Howard opens up an additional $22M in cap space for them next summer, and saves them from their tax bill this year. Play hardball and get HOU to include their pick for taking on Howard? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=zvm88ug
Bingo. For some reason many Blazer fans value Kaman and Hendo as if they are on cheap contracts or this is the 2005 CBA where other teams need expiring contracts. That isn't the case.
You think Kaman and Hendo are worth Dwight Howard plus another asset such as a first round pick? First off Dwight averaged 16/14 last year getting his team a few wins from the finals. Maybe they don't want him on a 5 year max deal long term; but he's hardly at a similar value as a DNP big man or an aging wing with a PER of 10. Second Dwight will be a free agent this summer and so Houston can just let him walk; they aren't giving up an asset. If he somehow did opt in they could trade him to Brooklyn or whatever team misses on free agents in the summer. There is zero incentive for them to trade him now for this summers free agency. Thirdly Dwight is not going to be a happy camper here with a lottery bound or playoff fodder at best team. Fourth there are a number of teams that could win a round or are in big cities such as the Celtics, Knicks, Toronto, Washington and they all make a lot more sense; would actually be willing to give up some type of asset just to see how he plays out this year with them. I'm gonna have to stop posting in this thread so many Blazer fans have delusional expectations.
A lot of ppl will think I'm kidding when I say this but... we need Neil to get us Boban Marjanovic (check out his line he had tonight, great +/- & 17pts in ~14min). I watched the game & he was a dominant shotblocker/defensive AND offensive force. They say this guy CAN shoot 3's too! This guy IS a game changer!
^ paging Rasta! But seriously, the guy is awesome in limited minutes. In my mind that is when he is at his best though. No way you make this guy average 28+ minutes a game. He would break down (feet first most likely) in no time.
Hahaha! I forgot he mentioned him! It's the 1st time I've mentioned him though Thing is, u don't have to play him 28+ minutes; he does his damage quick/very efficiently so actually I was thinking 28min. was the perfect time to run him (i.e. Whiteside averages 28.6 ). This guy will get nice defensive #'s (rebs, blks, etc.), though the #'s won't b as gaudy as Whiteside's, his defense/affect on the game r easily as impressive + this guy is way more impressive on the offensive end (versatility & efficiency); you have to watch this guy play vs. NBA talent to appreciate his awesome game
Well it means he is not likely to ever be a full-fledged starter. He probably caps out at 24 mins imo. He would be great (on basically any team - especially ours) as a 7th man or so though.
Olshey made 2 decisions. 1) He kept Kaman at $5M per. 2) He didn't play him. You were shocked at 1. I am shocked at 2. When 1 happened, I figured, this must mean that Olshey plans to play him. Kaman was possibly our best scorer early last season, till he got injured, shooting hook shots over opponents. He's what Leonard should be. Some say he's been good at changing Leonard...I don't see the similarity.
It's all about minutes and development for the young guys this season though. Every minute Kaman plays is a loss for the young guys development. Sent from my SM-J110F using Tapatalk
You are repeating the obvious. A GM should know that before he spends $5M. A GM should make Decision #1 to keep a $5M player only if he's already made Decision #2 to play him.
What makes you think he didnt know this and kept him for Locker room/ practice presence? This has been beat to death . There are several valid reasons for keeping Kaman but not actually playing him...
Orion you might not know this, but Jlprk is not a real person. He's a high-brow troll bot. His posts usually only make sense to him and his troll-bot cousin Maris.
Man, Im still too new to know whether your yanking my chain, he is yanking my chain, your both yanking my chain or your actually serious! lol.
